This was a fun idea. But I kept forgetting about it and didn't end up using most of the content. It felt like there were a lot of steps (downloading the packet, the stickers, additional content) that could have been more streamlined.

A fun idea — unfortunately I didn't have time to fully check it out. I love this kind of checklist/encouragement to dive more deeply into a set of tools but then I also often find myself rebelling against them and going my own way. :D I'd give this another try, though.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to complete this challenge. But it was a fun concept.
Lots of interesting things to do. To help with the summertime read

This is a super cute idea. I think having reading challenges is fun. My only wish for this is that the guide was a bit easier to access so I could have more easily followed along.

I never understood what this was or how to participate. I don't even know book I would be reviewing here. Very confused

I am going to be honest I was a little confused by what to do with this lol. BUT I also was super busy a didn’t have the time I would’ve liked to put forth into it. I love that NetGalley is creating a sense of community among readers!

This was such a fun idea. I do feel rhe instructions were a bit unclear. Them being clearer certainly would of helped but I'm still glad I participated!

I really did not use this so can’t give it a fair rating. It was an introduction packet, not a book. I’m not sure why I am required to leave a review.

I’m new to NetGalley and didn’t have as much time to participate in this as I had hoped. The idea is really neat to encourage engagement and reading. I look forward to it next year!

Thank you for an awesome NetGalley summer of reading! I read so many great books while helping out indie authors that I care about. Thank you for giving us a great website full of wonderful resources!

Camp NetGalley was a lovely way to build community over the summer with other readers. While I didn't finish the whole challenge, I plan on participating in future events.

This is such a fun bookish experience! Though I didn't participate in all the events I enjoyed the ideas!

Unfortunately I got way too busy in July and did not get to enjoy many of the activities in this packet...but the ideas were all so fun, and I'm hoping I can participate more next summer!

While I didn't get a chance to participate due to family illness, this Camp Netgalley looks very fun and I would love to participate in more events like this in the future.

Did not get a chance to participate as much as I would have liked with this! Will try again next year.

A fun packet to compete this summer- fun activity to follow along with on instagram! Although I didn't participate as much as I wanted to, I'm glad I was able to see what everyone else was doing online :)

Review for House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune:

I loved so much about this book. 15 out of 5 stars. Vibes are Miss Peregrine’s meets Good Omens meets Howl’s Moving Castle.

The story is told from the point of view of Linus Baker, a middle-aged man who lives alone with his cat and has worked in the same position for the same government agency for seventeen years. The most interesting thing about his day might be whether or not he remembered his umbrella and if his neighbor will try to play matchmaker while also wondering outloud about the possibility of his impending mental breakdown.

He works for DICOMY, in the magical orphaned young adults division, where he determines if orphanages for magical youth are healthy and safe for their inhabitants.

In recognition of his emotionless stance on the orphaned children, commitment to his duties, and complete lack of convictions or personality- he is given a Level Four Classified case assignment.

Linus is assigned, for one month, to observe the highly unusual Marsyas Island Orphanage which is home to six “problematic” magical beings and their caretaker- Arthur Parnassus.

Here we meet:

-Arthur, the mysterious and warm orphanage “master.”
-Talia, a bearded lady gnome child (who also happens to be 263 years old.
-Sal, an older shifter boy who has bounced from orphanage to orphanage and transforms into a Pomeranian.
-Theodore, a wyvern who has a button obsession
-Phee, a very blunt and observant forest sprite
-Chauncey, a jellyfish/slug/sea cucumber blob that dreams of being a bellhop
-Lucy, the Anti-Christ

Linus’ life, views, and beliefs are challenged and turned on their head in the ensuing adventure. I laughed and grinned throughout this entire book. It’s charming, lovely, and heartwarming. This is definitely one of my favorite reads this year. I listened to parts of the audiobook while I was at work and it was awesome. You don’t want to deny yourself the voices of Chauncey and J-Bone.

My favorite character is Talia and I’ll fight anyone over it.

I added this a little late so unfortunately did not get to actively participate and engage how I’d like but it looks amazing and I will definitely be participating in the future!!
