I think that this is a wonderful initiative and I look forward to joining in. I love the various activities and graphics.

This is a 5/5 concept: I loved the booklet and thought the activities it suggested inside were cute. I did complete some of them on my own and particularly enjoyed the bingo! However, unless I missed something (entirely possible!) Camp seemed heavily geared toward social media users. I’m not on social media so I didn’t get too much out of it despite loving the idea. Might there be a way to include the whole NetGalley community? This is a huge undertaking but a dashboard of activities and rooms or spaces we could chat to each other (like themed forums or something) would’ve been awesome.

Because it looks like all the action took place on social media platforms instead of here, I’m left with a feeling of “Did I miss it?” when looking at the feedback other folks have left: scavenger hunts? new books?
I’ll always have my canoe stamped bingo card, I guess! 🛶

If there’s a way to include the whole community, seasonal activities in this vein would be fun! Imagine a fall one!

One last thing I wanted to add was I loved the assets and design of the Camp materials. It was perfectly nostalgic and genuinely reminded me of 00s summer camp!

What a wonderful idea! I’m new here and this looks like a beautiful way to explore more about NetGalley!
I’ll bring marshmallows and spooky campfire tales! 🏕️

What a great idea! I wish I had discovered it earlier on. Hopefully I will get to participate in the next one. There will be a next one, right?

This is so cute! Love the idea - such a great way to build the community. I wish I’d downloaded this earlier in the month to take full advantage. Hope this happens again next year!

I am attending the first annual Camp NetGalley! What fun! There are bingo cards, a scavenger hunt, and a talent show, where you only need to submit a book review. No off-key singing attempts to sit through. Plus, at the end, all attendees get a NetGalley badge for their website and NetGalley page.

There are a few areas for improvement, which is true of me too honestly. First, advertise the camp activities. Other than the welcome packet, the camp and its events are not mentioned anywhere on the NetGalley website. It would be awesome if participant’s dashboards had the stickers pop up when earned. An interactive bingo card would also be a nice addition. Eventually, you might want the talent winners’ reviews to be featured on your home page, even the one for non-logged in viewers.

I am so happy that NetGalley is trying to lean into its We are Bookish community. Let’s just keep building this year-by-year to be the best that it can be.

By the way, you too can get free books, most as advanced reading copies by joining NetGalley. No blog is required though some social media presence is encouraged. All books should be reviewed and published on Goodreads, Amazon or other places where books are discussed.

You will start out by reading and reviewing Read Now books that don’t require publisher or author’s pre-approval. Eventually, you will develop relationships with publishers and/or authors of the types of books you like to read and review. They may pre-approve you for all of their titles. Their staff or the author themselves may email you with reading suggestions based on what you have read before that include direct links to download their galleys. Some may even offer physical copies of their books too. It is really an awesome experience for readers that I can’t recommend enough.

5 stars for NetGalley! Thanks for all the fish, I mean books!

What a super fun thing for NetGalley to offer! I think that this was a wonderful idea and I hope it happens again next year!

I love the concept of this event and the focus on the nostalgia of summer camp and summer reading! I like that the prizes are stickers for our NetGalley journal, a previous resourced provided by the site. That helps link together the resources provided to readers. It’s also just fun! The graphic design is fun and the challenges are accessible with a variety of options.

This was such a fun idea. July has been extremely busy this year, but I hope to see it again next year. I loved the bingo board and cute stickers!

Link is for my Goodreads review of The Branded by Jo Riccioni. It's my top read (all reads, not just ARCs) this year so far and I doubt it's being bested unless SJM sneaks an ACOTAR book release in this year!

I've really enjoyed taking part in camp NertGalley. As a reader who mostly goes for Romantasy & Dark Romance a lot of my reading is not very diverse, and I've enjoyed the challenge of seeking out Bipoc & queer authors & characters with the NetGalley bingo. That's been the best bit!

To improve it for next year I would recommend a forum or a social media group that enables us to take part together, that would be really awesome

I think this was a great opportunity. I unfortunately didn't get to follow along this year. But hope to next year. Thank you NetGalley

What a fun summer activity! I wish I would have downloaded this early July so I could join in for all of the fun!

I really found this camp fun. I was not always remembering to join in the activities but the idea of doing something that involved reading was very cool

This is a fun way to get out of a reading slump. The bingo game was creative and so was the scavenger hunt. Something like this for holidays would also be fun. Like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's themed. I hope to participate again next year!

I am looking forward to camp, and it will make the month of July even more exciting. It looks like fun, it will keep me motivated and I enjoy getting to know a different part of NetGalley and I Am Bookish.
The book, When You Find My Body, was special because I live in Maine When You Find My Bodyand it also happened to be the first book I read for NetGalley.

I absolutely loved this event. I started out behind because it was a hard month for our family. Now I am so excited and looking forward to all of Camp NetGalley. What a creative way to learn more about each other, learn more about NetGalley and of course more books for my TBR. This Camp was the escape I needed and I didn’t even have to leave home.
It gave me a chance to relax and get creative in sharing my thoughts.
I hope that NetGalley creates even more of these type of events throughout the year.
So exciting and fun.
I highly recommend joining for new ones to NetGalley and to those like me who have been around a bit, I learned a lot.
Ready for more adventures!!
