Quick easy read and gets to the point. Great to have on bookshelf to reread highlighted parts. All women should read this book
In You Are Not Broken, Dr. Kelly Casperson breaks down myths, misconceptions, and societal taboos that often cloud women’s understanding of their own pleasure. As both a urologist and a coach, she provides a compassionate, science-backed guide to embracing sexual wellness and self-discovery. Filled with relatable stories, thought-provoking insights, and actionable tips, this empowering book redefines what satisfying sex can mean. It’s a must-read for women seeking a more fulfilling, confident approach to intimacy.
This book packed with informative, straightforward, and honest advice about women's sexual health. It’s the book which all women should be given in puberty as it would prevent a dysfunctional beliefs and myths.
You Are Not Broken is a very interesting and informative book that is accessible to all. I really learned a lot from this book especially as I am now in my 40's and entering middle age and perimenopause. I am not broken, i am just underresearched because everything is spent focusing on men.
Finally a book about sexual health that is different to the others. The book is a good reminder that lack of libido is not your fault.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the chance to read You Are Not Broken. I’m the kind of reader who is fascinated by books about sex, in the sense that if it’s talking about our sexual health I generally pick it up, the title hooked me, but the content kept me. As a female who is almost at mid 40, many of these topics and scenarios touched on something I’ve experienced or are experiencing. A gentle reminder that things aren’t always your fault when it comes to the bedroom, and you’re not less than because things have changed. Sexual health isn’t a topic many talk about, especially publicly, we don’t sit down and speak on it like the weather, books like this, always leave me feeling like these should be normal conversations. That more often than not we have Al experiences similar. Especially as a woman. If you’re like me and you love learning and reading about sexual and mental health, do yourself a favour and grab these. While the author is knowledgeable, they leave you feeling comfortable and validated by the reasons why you might be feeling or experiencing some of these things sexually.
Thank you NetGalley and Sheldon Press!
Kelly Casperson wrote this book for women like me. Growing up in the religiously devote state of Utah the only discussion of sex or masturbation was to clarify that it was a sin and a one-way ticket to hell. There was nothing more that needed to be said. Sex was an experience that was expected to be shared between only man and woman and only after said man and woman were married,
This lack of knowledge is something I have now carried with me into my early thirties. This lack of knowledge creates self-doubt, insecurity, and embarrassment. You Are Not Broken gave me the opportunity to learn more in a few short hours than I have in my entire life combined. Kelly was able to address many topics in a thorough and honest way, I had no idea how little I really knew until this book. This would have only furthered my embarrassment; however, Kelly acknowledges those feelings and assures you that you are not alone, and those feelings are only natural and way to common.
You Are Not Broken is a book I will forever remember and appreciate.
This book packed with informative, straightforward, and honest advice about women's sexual health. The author provides clear explanations on important topics, cutting through the confusion with real, no-nonsense talk. It’s both educational and empowering, offering an open discussion on a topic no one wants to talk about! This is a book every woman needs to read.
Full of information in an easy to understand format. I learned things that I definitely should have learned in school! Coach Carr should definitely have read this book and so should you if you have questions about sex from a female standpoint- including men, you need to know this too if you want to sleep with women. Sometimes you don’t know who to ask for this type of information, doctors don’t even know it all, and this book is an affirming, feminist & empathetic guide. The knowledge this book gives will also help you to be able to give good advice to your children about sex when the time comes, beyond the scope of STI prevention and possible pregnancy. It is written from an American perspective, and I’d have liked to see more suggestions for resources in the UK as that’s where I am, perhaps worldwide recommendations could be included in future editions or on the podcast, which I will definitely try out. Who knows what I’ll learn next!
I am so glad to see a book like this come to market. I was so drawn to the cover and title and connected with it immediately. The author is clearly well researched and knowledgeable on this topic and does a great job bringing in the medical aspect alongside the human mental aspect of sex. I felt very seen and connected with so many topics she explored. I think this book is a must for any young woman (heck any woman). This book not only helped me see why I view myself in a certain way, but also made me think about how I would want to broach the topic of sex with any future children I have. I highly recommend this book and found it to be a very useful tool.
You are not broken is the book which all women (and men for that matter) should be given in puberty as it would prevent a whole lot of dysfunctional beliefs and myths being created. The initial chapters made me angry as Casperson dissected the history and causes of the factors which result in our understanding of sex and lack of education. Moving through to ways in which we can change the narrative and improve the sex lives of women provided some much needed empowerment.
There was a lot of wisdom in the book and would be a great first read for someone looking to start understanding their sex or lack of sex life (I do think for someone well read in this field is may be a tad basic), it is written in easy to understand language (no complicated science although for my taste this came across as overfamiliar in parts) with a huge amount of empathy but also not afraid of calling out excuses. It is written from an American perspective so some of the healthcare advice is not fully applicable to reads outside of America but that does not detract from the main messages.

This was a great book and finally a book where I learned some stuff about sexual health that I had not heard before. The book is light and funny and a fast read. 4 stars.
I expected greatness and Kelly delivered! As usual, she showed up with tons of great information and the receipts. This book covers enough without getting too long and drawn out and was easy to understand and follow.
A good book and very informative and it would have been helpful to have this book when I was younger.
I would recommend reading it if you need information.
I would like to thank Sheldon Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
You Are Not Broken was a quick read, and it will appeal to women who are hesitant to read about sex. Even with so much about sex being shown to us all the time, we are hesitant and shy about talking about such things. I think this book will help others who question their desires and whether they are "normal"
Thank you to John Murray Publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a good book. Slightly repetitive, but as the author says repetition is the key to learning. Also has some things you can apply to life in general and not just your sex life. I feel like it was very informative as well and everyone should read this since (like they say in the book) sex ed in schools is terrible.
I might not be that target audience for this book. It's got some great advice, but to me it was a bit repetitive. That may be because TO ME, these ideas are not particularly new. I've read The Menopause Manifesto: Own Your Health with Facts and Feminism by Jen Gunter and I listen to Dan Savage, so a lot of the things discussed here are not new to me. The author (who is a surgeon) has a great tone - it's light and conversational and straightforward, even as she underlines her statements with data and research. The book is sound, and I got some good ideas from it, which I'm not going to discuss here, because I've suddenly come across all shy.

I enjoyed this book, but as someone who has read a lot of literature about health and sex for people with vaginas, it just did not feel new. I did appreciate (and gain new insight) from the portion about menopause. However, that seems so far off that I am unsure how much I will have retained when I actually need it. All in all, a good book. We need more people talking about women's health.
I like to read about different perspectives, especially if they are informed by someone's expertise and insights.
You Are Not Broken is a quick, informative and inclusive read. The target audience that would benefit the most from this book is heterosexual women who are not interested in penetrative sex.
Dr Casperson is persuasive in her argument and I appreciate her having written this book. You are not broken.
A good overview of sexuality and particularly women's empowerment within sexual relationships. Good for men to read too!
