Superb! Alana and her team are neck deep in one of the most twisted, convuluted and intriguing murder mysteries I've ever read. It all starts with a fisherman finding human bones in one of his lobster pots and quickly escalates into an entire family being taken out one by one, and several attacks on Alana herself. I had to laugh at the picture of Alana's horror at being relegated to a hot pink electric wheelchair instead if her usual sleek chair! Fantastic writing, lots of twists and turns as the team tries to unravel all the strands of the case and a very unusual method of committing murder. Looking forward to the next case!

Detective Alana Mack and her team are back. The third book in the series, and the books go from strength to strength.

This time the team is investigating the remains of a body found in a submerged lobster pot, and the connection between that murder and a missing ex NYPD officer, recently retired back to Ireland. With many trails and leads, the team have their work cut out as does the reader following all the twists, turns and relationships. The author doesn’t make it easy, but it’s well worth it!

A fast paced, exciting read with great characters, and Eve, a new detective to add into the mix, along with Wally super dog! Plus with each book a little more character background is revealed.

Book 3 in the Alana Mack series features the investigation of human bones found in a lobster pot by a fisherman. I like the Dublin and Kerry settings and the characterisation, although there are quite a few to remember. Eve is a new addition to the team and may take some time to settle in but I quite liked her. The plotting is complicated, there is plenty of tension and some surprises towards the end but it is a very good read which i would recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Another gripping book in the Alana Mack series; this one has a truly fiendish murder method as well as an inventive way of hiding a body. Jenny O’Brien really does have a tremendous gift of storytelling, her characters gel immediately with the reader and the relationships between them strike a realistic note, with their banter adding some humour to the book. Having her main detective in a wheelchair gives the author a chance to show the character’s vulnerability as well as her determination. A total five star read from this author, who never disappoints.

Superb! This book was full of suspense, a real page turner, unputdownable with brilliants plot with plenty of twists and turns.

Alana is back with her team. It’s a little rocky with a new detective on the team. Alana runs into trouble and has to deal with the fallout of note I g able to protect herself while bound to a wheelchair. We get to see more of William and his adjustment to being in Alana’s team. The killings have them all baffled. It’s twisty and turns and a rollercoaster of suspense. I found myself holding my breath a couple of times. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Cage of Bones is an addictive and gripping crime thriller. It is book 3 in the Detective Alana Mack series by Jenny O’Brien.

These books can be read as standalone books, but it would be best to read this series from book 1 to get to know the characters and their backgrounds.

Concentrating on the main story was hard as I kept worrying about the dog who lost his owner.

Cage of Bones was an okay read for me. It was slow in parts, and this one was not my favorite of the series. The books have good characters, and I really like Alana as she is determined and tenacious in finding the truth and seeking justice.

I would recommend this book.

This is the second book I have read in the Alana Mack series. I did enjoy it, but there are many characters to keep track of! I felt bad for Alana, being attacked and helpless, and the way she felt that she had no one to call upon for assistance.
I really like the team that Alana has, and feel that William will go far, he has a very enquiring mind.
I am not sure about the new addition, Eve. But Alana will certainly find a way for her to fit in.
Loved the introduction of Wally, the dog, he has fit in with Alana's life and the teams as well.

If you like convoluted plots, good teamwork, and gory crimes, this book is for you.

Detective Garda Alana Mack is back and this 3rd adventure is the best yet. A fiendishly complex, nuanced and thrilling plot which includes a sweet confection as a weapon, DNA reveals and wheelchair user Alana coming under physical attack, not once but three times!
I love how her team “gel”, with the exception of chippy newcomer Eve “the nun.” We know her back story because Alana naughtily looked it up on Holmes (which is typical of rule breaker Alana) but she can’t let Eve know.
Great fun if you love well crafted police procedurals, strong characters and a plot that was hard to predict.

As Barney Mulcahy finds Bones in the bottom of a crab pot at Howth Harbour, Detective Alana Mack is back off her holiday in Malaga, finding it's been very quiet at work only had more irish rain. With her second in command Barry Quigg and back to the joys of work after this find the catch up paperwork will have to wait.
This is book Three in this series, and once again this storyteller has done it again, giving me enjoyment with her story's, that you can't wait to get stuck into. All her books are full of wholesome chapters and filled with gripping lines, all the way through that keeps you saying just one more chapter. Love this character Alana even with her disability nothing and no one gets in her way, so clever witty and fun to follow.

As the last pot breached the surface of the water, the fisherman's anticipation curdled to dread. No crab clattered within, inside the cage, where his catch should have been, was a pile of human bones!! Good book! This book had the usual it had suspense, intriguing, action, murder, mystery, a good who done it and a few crazy twists and turns! The story was interesting, it’s definitely worth reading but it wasn’t one of my top favorites but! It’s definitely worth reading! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This is the third instalment in the series and I have to say it was just as good if not better than the previous 2 books. I would definitely recommend reading the first two books in the series as it adds so much background and depth to the story. I am in awe of Alana Mack! She is a true inspiration and absolutely brilliant character to read about. I love the whole relationship she has with her team and how she doesn’t let anything stop her. One of my favourite crime series and I highly recommend them to everyone. 5 stars.

This time Alana Mack is confronted with the mystery of unidentified bones and the deaths that begin to occur as a result of their discovery.
Third book in the series, as usual, takes us through the whole police procedure to solve the murders. To achieve this, Alana, who not only has to deal with the case but also with her personal life and accept her paraplegia, has a whole team that readers already know from previous books as Paddy, Flynn, Lorrie and especially William who seems to take a little more prominence showing a great instinct. Let's not forget Wally, the dog "shared" between William and Alana.
A new member is also added, Eve Rohan "The Nun" who could alter the dynamics of the group and not exactly for the better and who apparently keeps secrets that Alana will surely find out.
The story is interesting and intriguing with a rhythm that accelerates as new clues are found. Of course the characters for me are the best part and are the ones that add another dimension to the plot.
Overall a great read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Alana Mack is back with her band of elite detectives including a newbie whom she’s not sure about considering her attitude. The bodies are mounting and several attempts on her own safety have the team running on empty.
There are many complicated areas in this case but the team are up to it .
Great to catch up with them all and looking forward to more in this fantastic series which keeps you guessing til the very end.

I love Alana Mack. Whatever life throws at her she keeps going determined to get the correct result.
Along with her second in command Paddy, William, Flynn and Lorrie, they make a brilliant team. But now the powers that be have added another member to the team Eve, who doesn't seem to want to be there or be a team player, so why is she there?
Another great chapter in the Alana Mack Series.

Detective Alana Mack is a paraplegic after an accidental fall down a flight of stairs. She doesn’t let it stop her from an active role as a detective. The case begins on a small fishing boat, with a lone fisherman checking his lobster pots. When one comes up, covered in small crabs, he’s shocked to discover human bones inside. The team must discover the victim’s identity first of all and then discover why the person was killed.
The story quickly evolves as more and more victims are found and the detective’s team is busy running down the leads and looking for links. The plot is exciting and I loved the characters! This books works well as a stand-alone, but I am now anxious to read the first two books in the series.

This book is set in both the Dublin and Kerry areas in Ireland. Barney Mulcahy is happy to be on the rolling seas in his fishing boat even with the threat of a force six gale on the horizon. That is until he brings up the pots. Shortly after, Mason Clare is missing in Kerry. The story starts off at a sedate pace, but then the tension ramps up. I was still none the wiser as to who was the murderer, but I was gripped, and I didn’t want to put it down. There are 2 adopted boys, a tenacious detective and of course there is Wally the dog, who changes lives. Wally added so much to the story. I like Detective William Slattery. I’m keen to find out more about him in future books. He thinks a little differently. There is also a new member of the team, and it will be interesting to see how that goes. The different personalities add to the story. There were a few surprises along the way, which added to the interest. A great read.

I really enjoy this series!!! Even though the three books can be read as standalones, it is always with great pleasure to meet the whole police team again! The plot is definitely hooking leaving me to guess the conclusion quite late into the novel. The conclusion is very satisfying! Can't wait for number 4.

From The Puppet Maker. the first in this brilliant series featuring wheelchair bound Alana Mack, I was hooked. The second instalment, Roses for the Dead, was even better and just when you think O'Brien can't do any better, she brings out Cage of Bones - and it's so good I read it in a few hours while the rain belted outside , There's great development of characters - I really love Detective Alana Mack - but we learn more about the team, plus there are a few new characters - I especially liked Eve Rohan, and quite fancy Alana's new boss, Leo Barry. Lots of twists and turns to keep me turning page after page leading to a very satisfactory conclusion. Another belter of a book, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next.
