Witty in Pink by Erica George is a charming and lively romance that captures the spirit of humor, heart, and personal growth. Witty in Pink is a feel-good novel that will leave readers smiling and rooting for love and happiness.
This was a fun read! I have never really read a historical romance but after this it will definitely be a genre I look out for. I loved our main characters and the plot was fantastic the enemies to lovers trope was also very well written! This book was funny and entertaining maybe a bit long but overall a 4⭐️I have never read anything by this author but I will definitely be in future.
I really wanted to love this one, it had all the elements that usually makes me love a romance. But the writing was very difficult for me to get through. It was a lot of over telling and info dumping, I felt like some of the scenes and romantic interactions were so unnatural and forced. It all felt very rushed and the two main characters themselves weren’t very fleshed out at all.
I really enjoyed this friends to lovers YA historical romance. Its perfect for teen viewers of Bridgerton who like their romance reads on the less spicy side.
I loved the main character Blythe and the ambitions she had to have her own apiary business and the backstory with the love interest Briggs was perfect for setting up the enemies conflict. There was also a great cast of supporting characters.
All in all a very charming and fun regency romance and I look forward to reading more from Erica George
I love a Regency romance so I knew this one was perfect for me and this was solidified as soon as I started reading and fell in love with the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Children's Group for the ARC
Everyone in their historical romance era ought to pick this up. It was such a fun and delightful summer read. Regency? Yes. Enemies to lovers? Yes. Good banter? Yes. A strong fmc? Yes. Honestly what more could you want in a historical romance novel? Highly recommend
Summer Must Read 🩷🌸🌷🐝
Words cannot express exactly how much I enjoyed this book.
Witty, beautifully written banter in a regency enemies to lovers, befitting of all Bridgerton fans.
Dual Pov between the main female character Blythe. An incredibly written independent, clever and proud daughter who encapsulates all the qualities of an eldest daughter.
And our main male character, Briggs, who on the first page Blythe described as a certified manchild.
From that sentence alone I knew this was the book for me.
Of note, I think YA is the wrong category for this book and could lead to wrong assumptions about this book. Another review called this a mature , closed-door historical romance rather than a YA historical romance, and I couldn’t agree more. While there was no smut/spice, it was quite clear the depth of feelings at play here and once again proving my point that you do not need a spicy scene in order to achieve sexual tension. We all know the Pride and Prejudice type scenes where a well executed hand brush can leave you blushing more than an explicit scene can. That is exactly what this author so perfectly encapsulates. The sexual tension of forbidden lust and love in a society where those opportunities are not possible for women until after their wedding. Sure the story could have been lengthened in order to include such scenes but I don’t think it would have added anything that the author hadn’t already perfectly provided.
