So I know Karen Rose is a hugely popular author so when the opportunity presented itself to read one of her books I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Phineas Bishop part of the Broussard Investigations team is returning to work after a previous case brought his PTSD to crisis point with the aid of his new service dog SodaPop.

Cora Winslow a librarian looking for answers and the target for someone not wanting those answers found.

Two complex characters brought together in challenging circumstances.

So I enjoyed the investigative part of the story which I found engaging and suspenseful but was perplexed by the romantic side but having read more into the author I now see this is her intention which she achieved.

Another fantastic read by Karen Rose, gripping from the start, and keeping you hooked until the end. Based in New Orleans, this is the third book in the series but could easily be read as a standalone.

My thanks to NetGalley and Headline for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy in return for an honest review.

Another Karen Rose book which lived up to her expectations. This story follows Cora Winslow who after visiting a private investigator finds herself chase through New Orleans until she hides in her friends house and hears that the secretary of the firm she was in before who is also a family friend had been shot. Feeling responsible somehow she goes to the police with not much to go on other than she feels like she’s being watched, has been broken into a few times although nothing seems to be missing and now chased through the city. It is there she meets Burke from the PI firm who with his team help her work out what why this all happened. It is a great storyline with full of twists and turns making this a very easy read from start to finish.

I believe this is the third book in the New Orleans series, though I’ve yet to read the first two books, this one could be a standalone.

I’ve read a few of Karen Rose’ books, and anyone who knows this author’s work, knows they are in for a bumpy, thrill of a ride. With lots of plot twists and turns, this book is no different.

Jack Elliott disappeared 23 years ago, and when his body is found, his daughter Cora-Jane finally finds out what kind of man he was. This makes Cora-Jane a target of some ne’er do well’s, and she enlists the help of the Broussard Investigation Agency, where she meets Phin Bishop, a PI who has been on sick leave with PTSD.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to the author, Headline, and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC, with which I leave a voluntary review.

Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for my ARC of this book.

Much better than the last offering, although still not as good as her older novels

Karen Rose writes books I want to read. I genuinely love her method of storytelling and her fast paced writing style. She thrusts you straight into the action from the first page and it’s full speed until the big finale.

Her stories are always full of action and emotion but Buried Too Deep was slightly different in that it felt much slower and was lacking something for me. I love the New Orleans crew and Phin and Cora made a good couple but I just didn’t have the same connection to them that I usually have to Karen’s MCs. They left me feeling a bit lukewarm which was a real shame.

The storyline was interesting but the book could have been 100 pages shorter without missing anything vital. I’m not sure exactly why this didn’t quite deliver for me but I love Karen’s stories so it won’t stop me reading her next book.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 rounded up.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher, Headline Books, for my early copy.

As we've come to expect from this fabulous author this book was full of fantastic characters, twists you don't see coming and some parts that really tug on your heartstrings. I loved it.

Cora-Jane Winslow's father walked out on her family 23 years ago; his letters to her over the years the only connection she has had to him. When his body is discovered in an abandoned building, she is shocked to discover he has been dead all this time. What happened to him and who would cover up his murder by writing the letters?

After his post-traumatic stress disorder forced him to run away from his life, Phin Bishop returns to the Burke Broussard Private Detective Agency, only to stumble upon an armed break-in. Cora-Jane is seen running from the building and his colleague Joy has been shot.

When it appears the shooting is related to Cora-Jane's father, the Agency step in to offer protection while they hunt for the perpetrator. Someone knows what really happened to Cora Jane's father and will stop at nothing to prevent their long-buried secrets being discovered . . .

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Karen Rose is a prolific author with a substantial back catalogue. This book I found a little slow in places, but a good read nonetheless.

Yet another gripping thriller from Karen Rose, this one a continuation of the New Orleans series. Great to get to know some previous characters even better but also to meet an exciting new character & what a character, as I librarian myself I wish I had half her knowledge! Would absolutely recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Headline for my copy of Buried Too Deep by Karen Rose.

You just need to see the Karen Rose name and you know you will be glued to the book.
Cora-Jane is seen running away from the Burke Broussard Private Detective Agency and when Phin Bishop gets inside he finds his colleague Joy, on the floor having been shot. Tracking down Cora-Jane, the firm realises that she needs protection, but from who and why? What does she know?
Karen keeps the pace going, but it wouldn't be one of her books if there wasn't some romance in there.
A great range of characters all linking together, to solve the puzzle.
GREAT AUTHOR!!!

This book will take you on a breathtaking rollercoaster of a ride from the very first page. With more red herrings than a whole series of Agatha Christie mysteries there are surprises and twists at every turn. Of course it wouldn't be a Karen Rose novel without a romance and the instant attraction between Cora and Phin leaves the reader in no doubt as to who will fall in love. It's always great when an author brings back characters from previous books and Karen Rose excels at this. I really loved this book and can't wait for the next one.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

Karen Rose returns readers to New Orleans for another deliciously devilish story. That seamlessly blends crime, mystery, intrigue and romance together.

As Cora Wilson is sure someone is breaking into her home and her dad. The man she believed walked out on his family twenty-three years ago has just been identified as the body found in the foundation of a building in Houma.

Where he's been buried for twenty-three years.

Then just as she goes to visit Broussard Investigations and her friend Joy someone attacks shooting Joy and chasing a fleeing Cora through the French Quarter.

And now Burke and his team want answers. Especially PTSD sufferer Phin who witnessed everything that went down after returning to the city and his friends after a previous case he helped on sent him spiralling.

But why would anyone want Cora dead and what is it they believe she knows? After all she was only five when her dad disappeared.

Well, that is what Phin, his support dog SodaPop, friends Stone and Dolores and the Broussard PI team are going to find out.

And believe me it's quite the story!

One that had me completely glued to my Kindle and reading well into the night. It was just that good, and I would thoroughly recommend Buried Too Deep to all.

Plus, I have to say I think out of the three stories set in New Orleans this has to be my favourite just because it featured Phin and he was such a real yet flawed character and that epilogue was....chefs kiss!

Karen Rose has done it again! She was the first author I ever read that I didn't move all day as I was so engrossed in the book... this is another one of those.
The characters and story draw you in and keep you hooked on the edge of your seat until all is revealed with the big bust at the end. The romantic tension is usual for Karen's style of writing and you can see it coming a mile away, however, I still enjoyed the sparks and the flirty banter.

Karen Rose fans will not be disappointed! This is going straight on my Wishlist for physical purchase

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this awesome book

oh man where to start with this high octane book that kept me reading right to the end so that i could see what happened and cry.... its the stuff of legends

phin is back... hes about to enter the establishment of Broussard Private Investigations when a woman comes tearing out of the place running away... the shots that followed are what galvanised phin into action.... he knew that only joy was in there and may need help.... even though phin himself was recovering from ptsd and had a service dog with him....

what he found nearly sent phin over the edge.... also the fact that the police thought he was a suspect and that burke who ran the place also looked at him suspiciously... didnt help his nerves

but things were going to get very messy before anything could be undone....

very high octane paced book with plenty of action and misdirection... and that ending had me in tears... loved it

Yet another phenomenal book by Karen Rose.
Extremely gripping from the very beginning. Highly recommend! 4/5

Having read all of Karen's previous titles I do find the romantic element rather predictable but I keep reading because I love the crime/suspense storylines. Plus the further you get into her series to more you connect with the characters and want to know more. This is the 3rd book with the New Orleans characters, focusing on Phin this time.

His love interest in the book (Cora) is seeking answers regarding letters she's been receiving for years from her father, who it turns out has been dead for over 20 years! Lots of twists and turns, kept me gripped throughout.

This is why Karen Rose is one of my favourite authors. Her books never disappoint.
The way Karen Rose writes is impeccable. The writing style was great, and the character development in this was amazing.
Really hoping to see more of Cora and Phin in the future as I really loved the characters.
I have nothing bad to say about this book. I loved it.

The thing I find with KR is that her books are absolutely MASSIVE, yet they just fly by and you forget you've just read 600-odd pages!!

Another masterpiece from the queen of romantic suspense. Cannot recommend KR enough to my friends and family, and anyone else who will listen :)

This is the third in this subseries, but you've no need to have read the previous two. It can work on it's own no problem. Although I would recommend reading the first two because they are great books.

I enjoyed meeting SodaPop :) and Phinn's relationship with him. And obviously Phinn and Cora. But the main draw for me, this time, was the 'cold case' of the missing father who turned out to have been murdered. But someone had been sending letters 'from him' to his daughter for years.... who? why?

Loved it.

The books in this series are all page turners- they are set in New Orleans and are centred on Burke Broussard’s detective agency. However each one focuses on a different character.
In “Buried Too Deep” the reader is introduced to Phin, a retired veteran and his wonderful service dog SodaPop. Returning to Broussard’s Agency after an absence due to his PTSD, Phin finds Joy, the receptionist , shot and witnesses a young woman fleeing the scene.
When he finally discovers who the woman is, a librarian called Cora Winslow and he realises that she is a victim not the perpetrator, the story really starts to race along. Cora and Phin develop feelings for each other after Phin and the rest of the agency decide to help her. Her father disappeared 23 years earlier and has been sending her regular letters ever since. However he has recently been discovered dead in the foundations of a building completed 23 years previously. Who has been sending her the letters? What is more, who has broken into her house and who tried to chase after her after shooting Joy?
There is a big mystery in this book as well as a simmering romance, a perfect combination for me. I just loved it and read it in double quick time.
The fact that Cora was a librarian and show cased her knowledge and research skills in the novel was the icing on the cake for me as that is my own profession!
This book was fast moving with a great plot but was very easy to follow! I really raced through it, keen to find out how everything tied together. The author also throws in an amoral tv preacher with some dubious relatives which meant that this was a book I just couldn’t put down.
Definitely a five star read and although the other books in the series are all excellent you can read this one and the others as standalones.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for my advance copy.
