Really enjoyed this as always. Fast paced, slightly spicy, good fun. I always love Karen Rose! I adore the character development and look forward to seeing how previous chapters are getting on.

The book opens with a shooting/execution then flips forward to present day Phineas Bishop is recovering/dealing with PTSD - working security at Broussard Private Investigations. When Cora J Winslow comes into the office needing help, her father has been found dead, died over 20 years ago however Cora has been getting letters from him all this time. The police aren't interested and soon Cora is being hunted and targeted but she doesn't know why. Phineas becomes her bodyguard, the squad take on her case and starts digging, what could be driving someone to hunt Cora and what is it she has that they want?

As with Rose books we always have a bit of spice, this one only has a little less than I remember from the others but still if you haven't read her before this is your heads up, there is some spice! We split between Cora and co and the bad guy so as the reader we are clued in a bit to what is going down.

This is book 3 of the New Orleans series, I don't know if I have read the previous ones and if I have it has been a while so you can absolutely read it as a standalone. There are themes and scenes with behaviours relating to PTSD and the long lasting/reaching affects it has, not only on the individual but their loved ones and daily life.

I do enjoy Rose books and I like how we have characters that have been in other series or maybe I am just thinking of the previous book(s), I need to check my blog/Goodreads, 4/5.

I really enjoyed this book , it was my first time reading from this author and have to say it won’t be the last time , I really enjoyed the authors writing style. Karen rose is one of my favourite authors , and that hasn’t changed from when I read a first book from her.

I went straight from Book 2 in the series, onto this one, so enjoyable, the pain being that now I have a long wait for the next instalment!

This story focuses on Phin Bishop, the night watchman and maintenance guy and how he came to be part of the team. This includes his backstory, which contributes to the brilliant characterisation. The main setting of this series really catches the essence of New Orleans, this time bringing to life the classier neighbourhood of the Garden District, with some travel to Baton Rouge.

Again, the team get involved to solve a challenging and mysterious case, following on closely from the previous book, this time looking back in time as well as facing current dangers. We see Phin trying to return to the Burke Broussard Private Detective Agency after his own disappearance . He now has a gorgeous service dog, SodaPop, to help him deal with his PTSD. It is also interesting to see Val (from book 2) and Molly (book 1) being involved in the case, with reminders of the characters from those books.

This investigation is so dark and twisty, I wondered where it would finally end up, However, Karen Rose skillfully leads the reader through the complexities of the plot.

An excellent read, with a fast-pace, plenty of action, mysterious happenings to figure out, and above all a great cast of characters to get involved with. How long until Book 4?

Receptionist at a PI firm is shot while meeting with a prospective client/friend. The client (Cora) was about to ask for help after a recent break-in that may be related to the recent discovery of her father’s body, who has been missing for over 20 years. As they unravel the mystery of her fathers death they are pulled into all sorts of dangerous directions and in the cross-hairs of a very ruthless and uncomprising killer.

This was very much a Phin central book where we explore into his past and why he is the way he is. However, all the people from the firm and Cora are very much front and centre, giving a nice variety of perspectives.

Only negative for me was it did drag and did seem to lose it's way in parts, especially in the romance parts. However, if you enjoy character-driven rather than plot-driven then you will enjoy this.

As with all the Author's books , whilst part of various series , they can be read as standalones .

The story starts with the discovery of the body of a man , a man long thought to have left his family behind - with
occasional letters being his only contact ................ there is a problem with this discovery however the body has been
buried the whole time - just who has been writing to the family and why ?
Cora-Jane Winslow needs to know the truth but she is soon embroiled in a shooting at the Burke Broussard Detective Agency
and is seen running away from the Office .
Phin Bishop thinks now is the time to return to work at the Agency , his PTSD helped with the aid of his new assistance dog .........
but he is in for a shock as he has seen Cora-Jane fleeing the Office and finds one of his colleagues shot
Just what is going on ?
When the Agency realise that these events are linked to the discovery of Cora-Jane's father's body they step in to investigate and
to try and keep Cora- Jane alive from those who do not want the truth to be revealed
What follows is a romantic , suspense filled murder mystery , full of twists and turns from the first page to the last

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Buried to Deep by Karen Rose in return for my honest review.
This is the third book in the New Orleans series but can defiantly be read as a standalone. As with all of her books
Karen Rose provides you with a really good crime story with just the right amount of romance, if you like a good romantic suspense then these books are for you.

So I know Karen Rose is a hugely popular author so when the opportunity presented itself to read one of her books I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Phineas Bishop part of the Broussard Investigations team is returning to work after a previous case brought his PTSD to crisis point with the aid of his new service dog SodaPop.

Cora Winslow a librarian looking for answers and the target for someone not wanting those answers found.

Two complex characters brought together in challenging circumstances.

So I enjoyed the investigative part of the story which I found engaging and suspenseful but was perplexed by the romantic side but having read more into the author I now see this is her intention which she achieved.

Another fantastic read by Karen Rose, gripping from the start, and keeping you hooked until the end. Based in New Orleans, this is the third book in the series but could easily be read as a standalone.

My thanks to NetGalley and Headline for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy in return for an honest review.

Another Karen Rose book which lived up to her expectations. This story follows Cora Winslow who after visiting a private investigator finds herself chase through New Orleans until she hides in her friends house and hears that the secretary of the firm she was in before who is also a family friend had been shot. Feeling responsible somehow she goes to the police with not much to go on other than she feels like she’s being watched, has been broken into a few times although nothing seems to be missing and now chased through the city. It is there she meets Burke from the PI firm who with his team help her work out what why this all happened. It is a great storyline with full of twists and turns making this a very easy read from start to finish.

I believe this is the third book in the New Orleans series, though I’ve yet to read the first two books, this one could be a standalone.

I’ve read a few of Karen Rose’ books, and anyone who knows this author’s work, knows they are in for a bumpy, thrill of a ride. With lots of plot twists and turns, this book is no different.

Jack Elliott disappeared 23 years ago, and when his body is found, his daughter Cora-Jane finally finds out what kind of man he was. This makes Cora-Jane a target of some ne’er do well’s, and she enlists the help of the Broussard Investigation Agency, where she meets Phin Bishop, a PI who has been on sick leave with PTSD.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to the author, Headline, and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC, with which I leave a voluntary review.

Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for my ARC of this book.

Much better than the last offering, although still not as good as her older novels

Karen Rose writes books I want to read. I genuinely love her method of storytelling and her fast paced writing style. She thrusts you straight into the action from the first page and it’s full speed until the big finale.

Her stories are always full of action and emotion but Buried Too Deep was slightly different in that it felt much slower and was lacking something for me. I love the New Orleans crew and Phin and Cora made a good couple but I just didn’t have the same connection to them that I usually have to Karen’s MCs. They left me feeling a bit lukewarm which was a real shame.

The storyline was interesting but the book could have been 100 pages shorter without missing anything vital. I’m not sure exactly why this didn’t quite deliver for me but I love Karen’s stories so it won’t stop me reading her next book.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 rounded up.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher, Headline Books, for my early copy.

As we've come to expect from this fabulous author this book was full of fantastic characters, twists you don't see coming and some parts that really tug on your heartstrings. I loved it.

Cora-Jane Winslow's father walked out on her family 23 years ago; his letters to her over the years the only connection she has had to him. When his body is discovered in an abandoned building, she is shocked to discover he has been dead all this time. What happened to him and who would cover up his murder by writing the letters?

After his post-traumatic stress disorder forced him to run away from his life, Phin Bishop returns to the Burke Broussard Private Detective Agency, only to stumble upon an armed break-in. Cora-Jane is seen running from the building and his colleague Joy has been shot.

When it appears the shooting is related to Cora-Jane's father, the Agency step in to offer protection while they hunt for the perpetrator. Someone knows what really happened to Cora Jane's father and will stop at nothing to prevent their long-buried secrets being discovered . . .

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Karen Rose is a prolific author with a substantial back catalogue. This book I found a little slow in places, but a good read nonetheless.

Yet another gripping thriller from Karen Rose, this one a continuation of the New Orleans series. Great to get to know some previous characters even better but also to meet an exciting new character & what a character, as I librarian myself I wish I had half her knowledge! Would absolutely recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Headline for my copy of Buried Too Deep by Karen Rose.

You just need to see the Karen Rose name and you know you will be glued to the book.
Cora-Jane is seen running away from the Burke Broussard Private Detective Agency and when Phin Bishop gets inside he finds his colleague Joy, on the floor having been shot. Tracking down Cora-Jane, the firm realises that she needs protection, but from who and why? What does she know?
Karen keeps the pace going, but it wouldn't be one of her books if there wasn't some romance in there.
A great range of characters all linking together, to solve the puzzle.
GREAT AUTHOR!!!

This book will take you on a breathtaking rollercoaster of a ride from the very first page. With more red herrings than a whole series of Agatha Christie mysteries there are surprises and twists at every turn. Of course it wouldn't be a Karen Rose novel without a romance and the instant attraction between Cora and Phin leaves the reader in no doubt as to who will fall in love. It's always great when an author brings back characters from previous books and Karen Rose excels at this. I really loved this book and can't wait for the next one.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
