Cora Winslow's father disappeared 23 years ago without warning. The only connection to him that remains are his letters. When his body is found and she finds he has been dead for the last 23 years, she has more to question than just who has been sending her the letters.
Phin Bishop considers himself broken, tortured by his PTSD, he ran and hasn't seen his family in years. Working for Broussard's detective agency he has been working hard to try and rebuild his life.
When fate throws Cora and Phin together they must race to solve decades old mysteries, while facing a very real and current threat before it is too late.
Wow this book was amazing typical Karen Rose style filled with twists and turns. Almost impossible to put down. I live being drip fed little clues as we went on long trying to work out how all the pieces of the puzzle fit. 5/5 would definitely recommend.
Love the Karen Rose novels.. I have read them for many years. Great writing and premise. Amazing characters. Page turner. Plenty of suspense to keep me guessing.. Was a real rollercoaster ride. Definitely looking forward to the next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it
Wow this literally had me entranced from the first page. Non stop action and intense thriller pace.. It has been a while since I had read any of Karen’s books but I will be buying any I have missed as this was a fabulous book. I liked the characters, the detective agency are a great team.
Another fantastic read from Karen rose. I couldn't put this book down it was absolutely brilliant. Wish they would make a series of Karen's books they are all so so good a must read .
I first started reading Karen Rose years ago when my kids bought me a book for my birthday. We then went searching for the previous books. This book is another brilliant read in my opinion. The characters interconnect between the books, but each could be read as standalone as it tells you what you need to know about them. The plots are all different and with enough twists to keep you guessing. The romance isn't over the top either.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.
I'm a big fan of this authors books and Buried too Deep did not disappoint in any way at all, and quickly became a moreish read that was hard to put down as I needed to know what would happen next. I really like Phin and Cora. Cora is in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses the shooting of her friend which leads to Broussard Private Detective Agency investigating a historic murder that took place 23 years ago. I love the authors writing style and that the story is told through different characters, each with their own agenda and motive. And of course there are characters I just love to hate and I couldn't wait for them to be found out. Karen Rose is one of the best authors I know who can weave a great story, and connect with her readers - she grabbed and held my attention and interest from the first page to the last. I really like seeing characters from a previous series appear here. The plot line is fast paced and multi layered with so many threads that had me so invested in the story. This authors stories take place over a short space of time which I've always liked. And it isn't a Karen Rose book without a bit of romance, is it? The romance element was more in the background and still complemented the story and fit well in the plot. I think the author writes of her characters thoughts, feelings and emotions so eloquently there were times I wanted to give Phin a big hug, and I enjoyed the insight into his PTSD, his triggers and life with a service dog. The ending was very good, it gives the story good closure and ties everything up nicely.
Overall a very good and entertaining read. One of her best books for me I think. If you like books with characters you can't help but like and root for and have a good plot line, a crime and romance element then I'd say this is for you and I'd recommend it.
Fabulous. Old characters and new ,all interesting. A great story and a close look at PTSD and the job of the service dog. An engrossing and enjoyable read.
This is a complex crime story, the roots of which go back to a murder committed 23 years ago but which has only just come to light with the discovery of the body which stunned the victims daughter Cora as she believed her father had deserted his family for another woman and now wants answers. The perpetrator is desperate to discover if any evidence points to his involvement leading to an escalation of crimes to cover his tracks. When Cora tries to hire a PI to help her she realises she could be in danger as a shooting occurs at the PI office leading to the involvement of them to get involved to protect her and uncover what’s happening and why.
This has some really great characters with Phin (and his fabulous service dog) who is suffering from PTSD, his friends and the great mix of staff working for the PI firm as well as Cora herself who is an exceptionally strong character at core and will do anything to resolve her dads murder. Then you also have the perpetrator and his grandson who both just spiral which makes for so much drama along with some great twists and the tragic revelation of why he was murdered. This is a fabulous multi-perspective crime read which had me hooked. 9/10
A compelling page turner which I found myself unable put down until I had finished the novel. Everything you would Einstein a brilliant crime novel by one of my favourite authors. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.
