Look, I gotta come clean - I’m not exactly Lana Harper's biggest fan. Like, I tried to get through Payback's a Witch SO many times and kept dropping it. When I finally pushed through? It was okay, but not a game changer. And every time I pick up one of her Thistle Grove books, I'm still kinda giving it the side-eye, you know?

But Rise and Divine? It wasn’t bad. We're following Dasha this time - she's this interesting mix of Avramov and Harlowe blood. The story hits the ground running but then... oof. It's like hitting a wall and suddenly we're moving at snail speed. And don't get me started on Dasha and Ivy's relationship - needed WAY more development there.

So quick background: Dasha's basically the black sheep in a family of chaos-loving necromancers. She's working this normal-ish job at the Arcane Emporium, but here's the cool part - she's a devil eater. Like, she can kick demon butt and hop through the veil like it's nothing. Pretty rare stuff.

Poor girl's still dealing with losing her parents though, and she's got this weird obsession with what's on the other side of the veil. She's got walls up higher than a fortress, and commitment? Not her thing. Her one "what if" moment? Breaking up with Ivy Thorn.

So of course, because the universe has a sense of humour, they get stuck planning this festival together. Dasha's hoping maybe they'll reconnect, but it's not just about rekindling old flames - they've got to deal with some serious otherworldly drama that's totally new to Thistle Grove.

Here's the thing though - the romance kind of takes a backseat, which... okay, fine, but this is supposed to be a romance book? It's like it's trying to be something totally different from the other books in the series. Not necessarily bad, just... different, you know?

For some reason I thought I had read the other books in the series but I've only read the first two.

I definitely want to catch up but don't have the time currently! So sorry but thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy!!

This series is amazing really magical. Will be sad to see it end. I really enjoyed Dasha and Ivy’s story. Their connection was beautiful.

I was not able to read this e arc because the formatting was really bad. There were letters missing from sentences and it was messing with my dyslexia. I am intrigued enough to buy this book though so as soon as a copy arrives in my local book store I’ll be purchasing! Thank you to the publisher for giving me a chance to read the e arc though!

Rise and Divine is the perfect queer, witchy read for autumn!

This feels very much like a small town romance novel with a paranormal twist. We follow Dasha as she plans a huge witching event in Thistle Grove with the four witch families. This creates an almost mundane backdrop from our second chance (or possibly third chance) romance to blossom.

There’s demons, goddesses, necromancers and so much more. I loved Dasha’s relationship with her family and seeing such joy in a blended family made my heart so happy. I felt the exploration of grief was handled beautifully and you could feel how raw Dasha’s emotions were and how that shifted as the story developed. Plus we had a healthy dose of sapphics in the mix that were the cherry on top of this delightfully dark story.

I absolutely flew through this book and can’t believe this is the end of The Witches of Thistle Grove series. I would definitely recommend this to lovers of witches and sapphic romances!

Now I am going to be sad forever.

I kid of course, but Rise and Divine being The Witches of Thistle Grove's last installment was quite a surprise, and I honestly could have done with a few more stories set in this world.

Having said that, Rise and Divine was once again a great story in which I enjoyed and appreciated a lot of things. One of those things absolutely was that the focus was on Dasha and Ivy. We got to know them as side characters in the previous book and seeing their relationship getting the chance to blossom once more was a great thing.

The reason for why Dasha went so completely scared on Ivy was also very well explained and made a lot of sense from someone who dealt with that kind of an addiction. That doesn't mean it must not have absolutely hurt a lot for Ivy and there was room for that as well.

The other aspect that I really loved was Dasha's family. Her relationship with her sister and her niece. But also the mother of her sister. They are half-sisters but both their mothers got along and embraced each other. After the death of their father they were able to grieve together. And after Dasha's mom died and her addiction her sister and her mother took her in and took care of her. That bond and what that meant to Dasha was something that was often referred to in the book but also felt. I wanted more of that.

As for the wrap up of this 5 book story, I wasn't quite expecting that ending. Our lady of the lake in the way she played her part. The synopsis certainly underplayed the seriousness of the threat to our town and outside of that. But I think I also enjoyed it because of that. There were hints in previous books and if I go back to reread them I might pick up on a bit more. Certainly in the book when we learned more about the lady of the lake. So I think the set-up was there. I just don't think anyone was expecting this to already be the final book.

I have enjoyed all the the books in the Thistle Grove Witches series and I'm happy to say this one was also great. Rise and Divine is fun, easy to read witchy book that is perfect for the upcoming fall TBR. I really enjoyed Dasha and Ivy's relationship development and loved getting to be back with the various characters and town from this series. Overall a really enjoyable read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Rise and Divine' by Lana Harper.

The fifth and latest installment in the 'Witches of Thistle Grove' series, 'Rise and Divine' was such a quick paced and captivating read. Both leads were well written, which was expected because it's a Lana Harper of course, and I just enjoyed rooting for them. There was a sex scene but it was written in a way that you could read it and not feel weird.

Enchanting as it is Hilarious, this book has it all!

Set in the spellbinding town of Thistle Grove, this story is a delightful blend of witchcraft, romance, and just the right amount of chaos and drama.

Daria "Dasha" Avramov isn’t your typical witch—she’s a devil eater, a rare and powerful necromancer with a knack for banishing demons and navigating the mysterious veil between life and death. But even with all that power, Dasha is haunted by her past, particularly the loss of her parents and the one who got away: Ivy Thorn. Dasha’s life is all about keeping things in control, avoiding commitment, and, of course, dodging any emotional entanglements—until she’s thrown back into Ivy’s orbit.

Forced to work together to plan a major festival for Thistle Grove, the sparks between Dasha and Ivy reignite in the best possible way. But it’s not all heart eyes and rekindled flames—a creepy threat looms over the town, and Dasha and Ivy must put aside their complicated history to save both their home and each other.

Lana Harper masterfully blends humour, heart, a touch of the supernatural in Rise and Divine and of course the right amount of romance.

Dasha’s fiery personality and Ivy’s grounded strength make for an electric pairing that keeps you rooting for their second chance at love!

The magical portrayal of Thistle Grove, with its quirky characters and enchanting vibes, provides the perfect setting for this spellbinding story.

High recommend If you’re in the mood for a witchy, autumn read that mixes romance with adventure and a touch of the mystical.

Thank you to the publisher Piatkus, The author Lana Harper and Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

So, like a few other people I picked this book up through Netgalley not knowing it was the final in the series. I've got to say I honestly couldn't tell that it was at first, so props to Lana! I felt that even though I'd read the final book first I still felt that it was quite. well rounded read, and even though I didn't have additional information from the previous books to build my thoughts I have to say this was a lovely read.

This book was well written, and I really did feel like there was a depth to the characters. The plot kicks off very early in the book so it has that fast pace feel which in witchy fantasies I do really like!

I really enjoyed the exploration of the magic, and how each character had their own type of calling - the understanding of different families who had different magics and their purpose was quite interesting. I really found Dasha's yearning for Ivy quite sweet, the whole 'you never really know what you've got till it's gone' type of love, and the wanting to win someone back kinda love is always a firm favourite.

I'm not sure if this will make me pick up the series, but all in all, a solid 3.7 from me!

Sapphic witchy perfection, cosy and endearing. It is another smash hit from Lana Harper and I can get so excited whenever I see she has a new book coming out.

I really enjoyed this book. I love a good witchy book and this one was perfect.
I did go into this one not realising it was a final book in the series until I’d read several chapters but I continued on and really enjoyed it.
The book was well written and I enjoyed the world building. I loved how descriptive the book was too.The plot was pretty fast paced which I enjoyed.
I liked that each character had their own type of magic and that there were different families with different magics.
I loved the characters and ended up pretty invested in Dasha’s relationship with Ivy.
It was a pretty perfect ending but I’ll definitely need to go back and read the rest of the series.

Thank you to the Publisher, Author and Netgalley for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

*Rise and Divine* concludes the series, though I didn’t realize it was the final installment until I finished it. While it’s a decent addition, the story still leans heavily into a twee and kitschy vibe that, at times, feels a bit too contrived. This book takes a darker turn by centering on Dasha Avramov, Thistle Grove’s resident death witch, which added some depth, but it wasn’t enough to fully elevate the narrative. It’s an easy read and wraps things up adequately, but overall, it’s a fairly predictable conclusion to a series that, while enjoyable, never quite moved beyond being just okay.

The fifth and final book in the charming, magical, thoroughly enjoyable Thistle Grove series. Each book has been an improvement on the last; and Rise and Divine did not disappoint.

The Avmarovs are my favourite of the Thistle Grove clan, and Dasha is an extraordinary part of them. Dasha is the only devil eater in town - meaning she can literally devour the nasty spirits. Dasha and the town are in trouble however, facing off against the biggest, nastiest devil they've ever seen. With the town and all its occupants at risk, can Dasha help save the day?

The novel pulls you in from the start - with a richly described exorcism - and Lana Harpers excellent writing skills really makes you feel like you're in the room. The whole novel is very well written, the plot moves well. There is drama, mystery, magic and romance. The perfect novel to read curled up on the couch with a burning candle and a pumpkin spice latte.

I am so sad that this is the end of this series, I have truly loved it. I can't wait to see what Lana does next!

Rise and Divine - Lana Harper

I was so pleased to be approved for an arc of Rise and Divine by Lana Harper, the final book in the Thistle Grove series. I’ve read and loved all of the previous books, and this one is no different! Thank you to @netgalley and @littlebrownbookgroup_uk.

I definitely have a special place in my heart for Dasha, her past trauma and grief is definitely something I can empathise with. I love Ivy, gotta love a Thorns healing magic! I’m an absolute sucker for a second chance romance; so I’m a big fan of the romance plot line in this one!

I was also lucky enough to receive an arc of the previous book in the series - In Charms Way, and I loved the cameos from Delilah and Cat! I really enjoyed the moments with all the characters from the previous books, and I love the Aramovs in particular.

This series is one of my absolute faves, and it’s an autumn reread for me - nothing gets me in the autumn mood more than a cup of hot tea, a sapphic witchy rom com, and a pumpkin spice candle.

The publication date for this is only 5 days away, on the 20th of August, and I thoroughly recommend if you enjoy anything witchy, spooky, autumnal, or just love a good sapphic romance! (The Burning of various pumpkin spice candles and a pumpkin spice latte whilst you read are optional extras, but I strongly recommend them.)

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 - Five pumpkins, instead of five stars felt appropriate

Rise and Divine by Lana Harper

This is the fifth book in the Thistle Grove series, it can be read as a standalone but I preferred reading them in order to get all the good gossip along the way.

This book follows Dasha Avramov, a part of the necromancer family of witches, Dasha herself is a Devil eater which is a rare skill even amongst her kin. The town of Thistle Grove is preparing to celebrate Cavalcade, a ritual that lasts a month and only takes place every 20 years.

During a routine banishing Dasha faces a demon who leaves with an ominous warning, but hey demons will say anything when they’re about to die, right?

When during the first day of celebrations things start to go awry Dasha embarks on a journey not only to save the town she loves, but she also has to confront her past, face her fears and try to find the courage to stay rooted to the world of the living.

The book was slow paced, I expected a little more excitement from the story of one of the Avramov clan, but it can’t have been too slow because I read it in 24 hours, overall I really enjoyed the book, enjoyed getting to revisit the Grove and it’s a perfect halloween/autumn book.

I want to thank @LittleBrownBookGroup_Uk, @LanaHarper and @Netgalley for giving me access to the ARC of this book.

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and honestly review an advanced reader’s copy of this book.

This was cute! I think I wasn’t completely in the mood for it, but I still really liked the love story in the background. (It did move kind of fast, and I don’t really enjoy spicy scenes in books, but overall it was just very fine.)

This has witchy vibes, high stakes, complex characters, and a mystery at the heart that maybe was a little too straight forward to me. I didn’t truly feel the tension, but I still had a good time with it!

If you loved the other books, this is a solid ending for it.

3.5⭐️

Rise and Divine, is the fifth novel in the Witches of Thistle Grove series.
Thistle Grove is a town populated by both witches and normies or mortals. The Witch residents, tend to be members of the Harlow, Thorn, Blackmoore and Avramov families who founded the town. The series is wonderfully diverse.
In the first novel, Payback's A Witch, we meet Emmy Harlow who is returning to Thistle Grove for the first time in many years, and finds her in the middle of a spellcasting tournament.
In the second book, From Bad To Cursed, our protagonist is Isidora Avramov, and she joins forces with Rowan Thorn, from a rival family, when unexpectedly the celebrations in advance of the Beltane festival are sabotaged.
For book three, Back In A Spell, we meet Nineve Blackmoore and Morty Gutierrez who navigate a mortal and witch romance.
And book four, In Charm's Way focuses on the Harlow family once again, with Delilah Harlow attempting to recover her memories.
Now, in the most recent book, Rise And Divine, we return to the Avramov family with the tale of Daria 'Dasha' Avramov. Dasha is a "death eater", meaning she had the power to eat the demons that she encounters and in this story, she is charged with defeating her most dangerous foe yet. This is the darkest novel in the series yet and very enjoyable. Also rather spicy so be warned. While it's not necessary to read the other novels on this series, it does help the reader to understand the backstory and to have a greater enjoyment of the backstory.
