One Midnight with You by Shari Low is about one New Year's Eve in Scotland... 24 hours. A host of likable characters, each experiencing a major life event - illness, death of a loved one, divorce, betrayal, perceived betrayal... A major loss of life as they once knew it. And how, in 24 hours, On the eve of the new year, a new beginning, new beginnings for all. I love the pace of Shari Low's books, such an uplifting story.

I have enjoyed other books by Shari and so was excited to get an Arc of this book. The story is about a group of people who have life choices to make. It’s set on New Years Eve where the group meets at GINO’s which they do every year. It’s a feel good book that will make you laugh out loud but also makes you a little teary. I really enjoyed this book!

What a beautiful book, it's not hard to understand how Shari has sold over 2.000.000 books. The characters and dynamics are so well rounded. I wanted to have some food in the restaurant and meet all the characters. NYE into NYD is written so well with the mishaps, love and humour that just reel you in and have you finish the book in one sitting. A 5 star stellar read.

I love Shari's books. She completely immerses you in each characters story, intertwining them while keeping each individual story going. Being Scottish I love that her books are based in Glasgow and I sometimes know the locations that are written about. Another fantastic story.

One Midnight With You is set the day of December 31st and into the New Year, with Hogmanay celebrations in a small Scottish town. Four people are dealing with things that hopefully will come to a head at midnight. Ailish Ryan has been in hiding since her husband’s affair ended their marriage. Her friend Gwen has just been released from the hospital and has told her friends that she is waiting the results of her tests to see if she is cancer free. She wants to celebrate the night like they did in the past, so Ailish agrees. What she wasn't expecting was her ex-husband to show up and want to talk to her. Ailish’s daughter, Emmy, is worried that her boyfriend is just like her father and she begins her own investigation to see if he is fooling around on her. Grandmother, Minnie Ryan is on a mission to deliver a very special gift to a lifelong friend. Her health seems to be failing, but she gets dressed up so she and Henry can go out for Hogmanay to their favourite pub. Last but not least, Dario Moretti has spent his whole life working in the family business, but now it’s in trouble and he’s all out of options. He has an offer to purchase the place with enough money to cover the loans and mortgage, but can he let it go? Will his father give his blessing. The offer ends at midnight, so he doesn't have long to convince his father. As the countdown begins, will these four begin their new lives?

One Midnight With You is an amazing story. It is told in two hour increments beginning at 8:00 am and ending the next morning. I loved that the characters were regular people and easy to relate to. We all know someone who's spouse cheated on them, someone who has had or now has cancer, that crazy friend who loves to have a good time, someone who is worried that their significant other is growing tired of them and beginning to wander, and even someone who has had to close or sell their business. I was rooting for all these characters to sort things out and have a positive outcome, but what would be considered positive. The only character I didn't like was Eric, Ailish's ex-husband who has come slinking back with his tail between his legs. He was referred to as the 'Adulterous Arse', which I loved. There were several surprises, one that shocked me, but overall this is a wonderful story about family, friendship, love, workaholics, tradition and more. This story was told with compassion and there were times when I had tears in my eyes. I highly recommend One Midnight With You. I have enjoyed every Shari Low book I have read, and won't hesitate to pick up any future books or those on her backlist that I haven't read yet.

Over 24 hours in a small Scottish town on New Years Eve 4 peoples stories are told,
Ailish who has spilt up from her husband after his affair
Emmy, Ailish’s daughter who is having trust issues with her partner especially after what her dad did
Minnie who is the family matriarch needs to deliver something special to an old friend before midnight
Finally Dario who has been running the family business for years but it has run into financial difficulties and can’t see a way to put it right
A lovely read which tells all the characters stories but then connects them together at the end

Shari Low has a knack for writing about many different characters whose stories interweave over a 24-hour period. This one takes place on New years Eve in Glasgow and focuses on friends and family members of different generations. The story covers a lot of themes, particularly relationships, illness, ageing and bereavement, friendship, and trust. It's a really well told story packed with highs and lows, and it keeps you guessing right until the last page. I really enjoyed the story.

I loved how this book is divided: into time instalments. I loved the relationships between all the members of the family and the back and forth between past and present. It makes you realise that time passes quickly and we should enjoy every moment on this earth. To new beginnings!

Another heartfelt story of love and friendship from Shari Low. This one follows a group of people whose lives intersect around New Year’s Eve and an Italian restaurant where they always ring in the new year together. It’s primarily a celebration of friendship in all its forms, and the promise of new love and fresh starts.

I enjoyed the multi generational characters and rotating POVs that are hallmarks of Low’s work. It’s a beautiful story just in time for the holiday season!

I initially thought the various characters would be confusing but actually as I learned how they were all connected, it was easy to keep track of everyone. This was a really sweet story with family at the heart of it, I really enjoyed it.

If you’re looking for a heartfelt, heartbreaking, laugh out loud, feel all the emotions book than this is the one for you. This is the first book I have read by this author but it did not disappoint. The story follows a woman who lives in Scotland. What more do you need to know. Scotland is absolutely gorgeous and they have hot men. That alone should make you want to read this book.

This heartwarming tale is set in a small Scottish town during Hogmanay (New Year’s eve) celebrations. It follows four characters as they make life-changing decisions in just twenty-four hours. The story begins at 8 am on 31 December, and unfolds in two-hour increments, culminating just after midnight as the New Year begins. Each character must face their past and make a choice for their future as time runs out.

Ailish Ryan, reeling from her husband’s affair and the subsequent breakdown of her marriage, has been hiding from the world. But when her lively friend Gwen, recently out of the hospital and awaiting cancer test results, convinces her to celebrate the New Year as they once did, Ailish reluctantly agrees. Suddenly, her ex-husband appears, wanting to reconcile, making her decide if she can let go of the past or stay stuck in her sadness.

Emmy, Ailish’s daughter, struggles with trust issues. Considering her father’s betrayal, she spends the day playing detective to investigate her boyfriend’s fidelity. As the hours tick by, Emmy must decide whether she’s repeating her mother’s mistakes or if her fears are unfounded.

Minnie Ryan, the family matriarch, is on a personal mission. Despite her declining health, she is determined to deliver a special gift to a lifelong friend before the year ends. With her trusty companion Henry by her side, Minnie’s journey through the town reveals the strength of her will, a lifetime of memories, and the importance of tradition in the face of an uncertain future.

Finally, Dario Moretti, who has spent his entire life working in the family business, is facing a crisis. With the business in trouble, he has received an offer to sell that could save his family from financial ruin. But with the deadline looming at midnight, Dario must decide if he can let go of the past and seek his father’s approval, or cling to a legacy that may no longer serve him or the people he loves.

One Midnight With You is a story of healing and hope, reminding us that sometimes, the end of one year offers the perfect chance to begin again.

This is my first book by Shari Low but it is apparently a part of a series.

One Midnight with You does have several characters and it is told in multiple points of view over the course of one New Year's Eve. At first it was tough to keep all the characters straight but then it became clearer. Almost all the characters are likeable (except for the cheating ex husband) and so you wanted to cheer for them to find happy outcomes.

I love a story that makes me laugh and cry. I laughed out loud several times as I was reading. Though the story was very predictable it was very sweet. I enjoyed the feel good nature of the story.

Overall this was a quick, sweet story full of humor and emotion. I would read other things by this author.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Low is the absolute queen of writing the most glorious stories set within a 24hr period.

Set in Glasgow, it's NYE and there's every reason to be celebrating, but for our four friends there are life changing decisions to be made!

Ailish, Emmy, Minnie and Dario are the four main characters the story is set around, and it comes with a great cast of side characters too.

It's a heartwarming read that's high on emotion, is fun and a thoroughly enjoyable read.
