I absolutely loved this book! Historical romance with pirates, witty banter, spice and adventure. “The Princess Bride” is one of my all time favorite books and this was a great adventure along those lines. The story was fast paced, from both points of view of the main couple and was a great guilty pleasure sort of read. The sporadic “mysterious narrator” inserts were a little confusing at first but at the end it made a bit more sense. Honestly, an enjoyable read and I’ll be looking for the next in the series!

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC and give a review.

Emily Underwood’s life of adventure takes an unexpected twist when she’s swept into her favorite book, face-to-face with the infamous pirate, Flynn Sawyer. Torn between his quest for revenge and the mysterious woman from another world, Flynn struggles to resist Emily’s allure. Can they survive the dangers of this new world together?

This book is a captivating, fast-paced read, brimming with love, adventure, and thrilling moments. Flynn’s mom is an absolute legend. Her sassy "one room" solution had me laughing out loud. The stick sword fight between Emily and Flynn? Totally epic! ⚔️ And that dancing scene? It had me feeling ALL the emotions—so beautifully written! 😍💃

I truly had a wonderful time reading this book. It felt like I was taken along for the pirate ride with Flynn and Emily. While they are the main characters, the side characters also felt very involved and real, with genuine friendships and connections. The spice in this book is perfectly placed, adding excitement without ever feeling awkward 🌶️❤️

“Here to kidnap me again, Pirate?” - “No, I am here to rescue you. What kind of pirate would I be if I let somebody steal what is mine?”

A fun and romantic tale of love and adventure! This was everything I wanted in a cozy pirate fantasy; an arrogant pirate and a strong female lead.

This was a fun read! Putting aside some last minute editing that needs to happen, it was a nice story.

His To Love was a fun and quick read. It balances fantasy and romance so well with a cozy feel. We all have our favorite books we find ourselves going back to over and over as does our FMC, Emily. Then she finds herself actually getting thrown into the world of her favorite book with the very handsome MMC, Flynn.

I love the banter between these two and you are just rooting for them from start to finish. The two find themselves slowly falling for each other as they spend more time together but they both know there is an end, but will they stick to their original plans? I don't want to spoil anything but this is definitely a recommendation for me and one that you can finish in one sitting! It gave the perfect fairytale feels throughout!

I received this book through NetGalley as an ARC and I have to say I really am pleasantly surprised. I gave this 3.5 to 4 stars.
It was an intriguing story and had a plot twist I truly didn’t see coming. The storyline and writing in this gave me major Bridgerton x Peter Pan x Pirates vibes and I really did enjoy the play with fantasy. I love the concept that she is sucked into the world she reads and loves, as a reader that is a major wish is to be able to slip between the pages of your book and live the life they lead, experience all the magic really.
The reason I didn’t rate this higher was just due to a personal preference, a majority of the story was told through third POV which isn’t something I was used to and threw me off quite a few times throughout the story.
Flynn gave off some jealous, you touch her and see what happens next, cinnamon roll but morally grey for her. He definitely was smitten almost immediately and it was cute to see how their relationship developed. I would recommend for my fantasy lovers who are just starting to dip their feet into an easy to read fantasy book without complicated world building
*Potential Spoiler*
I did not like the ending because it had a micro trope that I am really not a fan of but it was right at the end so I’ll have to pretend it didn’t happen. #delulu
Good work Elena Covens, I look forward to reading your future books.

From the very first page I was hoocked by this book! It is one of those stories that can be read in an afternoon and that is heartwarming : it is full of pirates, love , adventure all surrounded by characters that seem real and settings that can make you feel the sand under your feet, the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea.

I was pleasantly impressed with this book and look forward to reading more by the author!

Calling all pirate lovers!

Emily Underwood has always preferred the company of books to men, but when a lightning storm whisks her into her favorite novel, she finds herself in a world full of danger and excitement—and a charming pirate.

Flynn Sawyer, a pirate with a lifelong vendetta against the King, is thrown for a loop when Emily appears out of nowhere.

I absolutely loved His To Love! From the first page, I was hooked.

The concept is so fresh and exciting, with Emily getting zapped into her favorite book.

Flynn and Emily’s relationship had me swooning, but what really warmed my heart were the family dynamics.

I tore through the book, and that ending—wow, so much fun!

Thank you NetGalley and Elena H Covens for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emily Underwood has spent her life avoiding suitors while seeking adventure between the pages of books. Yet when a lightning storm sends her into her favourite book, she finds that she conjures up a pirate. Flynn Sawyer, one of the most well-known pirates within his world, spent his entire life plotting to kill the King. When Emily arrives from nowhere, he finds himself distracted but unable to let her go.
A clever and mystical story with plenty of banter between the two main characters. A quick read which plenty of adventure and romance. I also enjoyed the use of a narrator to tell this story, providing the feel of the fantasy story that it is.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Covens masterfully intertwines fantasy, romance, and adventure elements, crafting an enthralling narrative that captivates from the first page to the last.

The story revolves around Emily Underwood, a young woman navigating loss and an impending arranged marriage. Following a twist of fate during a thunderstorm, she finds herself immersed in a perilous world of pirates and high seas within the pages of her favorite book. Here, she encounters Flynn Sawyer, a formidable pirate with a singular vendetta against the King. Their unexpected connection sparks a transformative and electrifying relationship as Emily evolves from a dreamer to a courageous heroine, and Flynn's stoic facade gives way to a deeply layered and endearing persona. Their interactions are infused with vibrant energy, making their connection thrilling and profoundly moving. I have a lot of thoughts about this book.

I enjoyed it, but it was a very difficult, frustrating read and because of that what could have easily been a 5 star book ended up at a 3.5 star.

I’ll start with what I did like.

I love the titles on the chapters. It is one of my personal favorite bonus things in a book.

The story itself, plot and pacing were good. I adored the novel idea that instead of a modern girl slipping through to a book world, we instead have a regency era one. The Characters themselves were lovable, likable and the MMC is divine.

What absolutely lets this book down immensely is the editing. It does not feel or read as a finished, well edited manuscript. It instead reads like a first draft. A good first draft, yes, but a first draft nevertheless.

There are multiple instances where repetitive wording, grammar issues and sentence structure forces you to pause to re-read in order to understand. It is also difficult to tell when the narrator is talking at times. Tenses are confused occasionally and there’s regency volcabury interspersed with modern vocabulary making it rather confusing. Stockholm Syndrome, for instance, was so named after a bank robbery or n 1973 where the hostages ended up identifying with their captors. Therefore, not yet named so in this time period.

One of my biggest issues was the use of Contractions. In that there aren’t any. Yes, formal speech was prevalent in the regency era, but contractions were still used. It makes the dialogue seem forced and unnatural detracting from what could have been fun and meaningful banter between the characters.

Overall, this book has wonderful potential that, in its current iteration, is not realized. I feel it needs a further revisions of the manuscript and then to go through another editing pass. I do so hope that this is done. It truly has the potential to be one of the most loved Romantasy books out there, if only for a little more time spent polishing it up. I will wait to post my review on my social and Goodreads in the hopes that this will happen.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory editing for the ARC. All opinions are my own and so am posting it voluntarily.

The book was really fun and easy to read, fast paced with a wonderful heroine you can’t help root for alongside a sexy pirate hero that’s come to life. The premise was unique and every bookworm’s fantasy, and I enjoyed just how easy it was to read (despite it being littered with grammatical errors). The narrator style was also a nice interjection every now and then that added to the historical aspect of the book.

It just lacked a bit of depth and I just wanted more build up to the romance, since we’re thrown into a the thick of it almost straight away. But it did mean there was no unnecessary details bogging down the beginning.

It’s perfect for people who want something easy and fast-paced!

This was my first time reading a book where the FMC gets sucked into the book she reads, and it didn't disappoint. I loved the small crew and the found family aspect. Often, too many characters can be overwhelming, but the size of this main crew was just perfect.
The spice level was just right for me; if you follow me, you know I'm not a big fan of spice and prefer YA. But something about pirate books makes the spice intriguing! ⚓️🔥In this one, it was perfectly timed and not overdone.

This lovely read reignited my love for pirate stories, and I've already added more pirate books to my TBR.

𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 comes out on August 1st—be sure to check it out! 📖🦜

Huge thanks to the author and netgalley for the ARC. I loved every moment of this book! 📚❤️

Thank you netgalley for giving me ARC access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think this book has a lot of promise, and a fun and interesting premise. However, the execution really fell flat for me. I ended up DNFing this book at 30% because I was not enjoying reading it.

My main issues are: inconsistent narration with random intersections from a second person perspective breaking the fourth wall with overused quips, a real issue of just dumping information and exposition without any real reason for it in the story (for example, two mysterious side characters just sharing their entire backstory with the mc hours after meeting her with no prompting), and the pacing of the dialogues and action felt really choppy and confusing at times.

I think this book might be someone else's cup of tea but the stated issues along with lots of other little nitpicky things kept me from finishing it and I wouldn't recommend it.

given that this is a novella, i expected the world building to have less focus…but for a book abt pirates, i definitely expected more…pirates 🫣

things i liked:
— strong fmc who likes to read
— angsty mmc
— banter
— endearing side characters
— intriguing plot elements

things i noticed:
— inconsistent narrative. the first chapters kept getting interrupted by a disembodied minstrel type of narrator (think lady whistledown in tone) and this not only took me out of the story, but this narrative style did not match the tone of the storytelling within the writing itself so it felt jarring whenever this voice appeared. by about 30% the narrator had stopped butting in completely and didn’t make another appearance until maybe 85%.

— contemporary tone. this a historical “fantasy” set in the 18th-19th century but reads with a very modernized tone. ex: stockholm syndrome is mentioned in the story but this concept had not been given a name until the late 20th century. other references like this are made throughout so i think further editing would have greatly benefited this story.

— the “fantasy” elements. the entire premise of this story is that the fmc gets transported into a favorite book featuring pirates. this magic is not explained and is very quickly brushed over when she finally reveals her origins. i’d say this leans more into magical realism but even then, more explanation or more believable dialogue between characters would have delivered this element with more punch.

— repetitive phrases. one particular alliteration was used perhaps eight times.

the middle portion definitely held my attention and i will always support an angsty yearning mmc so giving some redeeming points for the existence of flynn ✨

thanks so much to netgalley and victory editing for a digital arc in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I was really excited to read this because I love a good pirate romance and this did not disappoint. I loved all of the characters, although I did hope for more character development and depth throughout the book. I loved the chemistry of the main characters but a part of me just craved some more witty banter.

I adored the world, the adventures and the idea of going into my favorite book. At times I thought the plot was lacking, as if it was just missing a little something. The authors writing was great and I enjoyed the book a lot though. It was a fast fun read that I would recommend again.

“Emily Underwood has spent her life avoiding suitors while seeking adventure between the pages of books. But when a lightning storm sends her into her favourite book, can she find a way to survive this exciting new world and the dangerous pirate within it?”

When I saw this book on NetGalley, I definitely knew I wanted to request it. I looked like such a cute, fun read…and it was! I loved the idea of being transported into my favorite book, especially one with the adventure and love of a pirate romance.

I loved the characters, especially the side ones. It was fun to learn about how they became pirates and what made them join up with Flynn. Being able to view both Flynn and Emily’s thoughts about each other, and how they changed over the course of the book was so much fun.

There were a few flaws and overall I felt like I wanted more character development from our main characters. This book definitely has so much potential and I did enjoy reading it!

Book: His To Love by Elena H. Covens
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️🌶️

This, my friends, is probably what we romantasy girlies wish for—to be given a chance to enter our favorite book/s and to meet the main character and have a HEA with them. Come on, who doesn’t? 😆 If you’re looking for a book with that plot, then this one’s surely for you!

I enjoyed reading the book that I didn’t realize I was already at the last page. It was an easy read; the tone reminiscent of how My Lady Jane was also written. It hooked me, making me expect a really exciting journey ahead. And indeed, I wasn’t disappointed. But alas, this book fell a bit short for me when it comes to the plot itself. Or maybe I’m just looking for something more interesting that will set this book apart from all pirate romances book. The chemistry between the characters is amazing, won’t deny. But I’m still left begging for more. It’s all so typical, that nothing really sets it apart from other books.

Despite those shortcomings, the author is still a very talented writer. The atmosphere isn’t boring, and she was able to bring to life such amazing and relatable characters. Please do take time to give this book a chance! I may not be its target audience, maybe that’s why I’m 50/50 about this book, but I’m sure there are others who will surely love this.

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC!

“He loved her dangerously, viciously, and beautifully.”

Oh this was just too much fun. Such an enjoyable, lighthearted, quick read – I loved every page, and was truly swept up into this fast paced adventure full of loveable characters (loveable enough I’m actually planning to read the spinoffs ?!), men who are absolute simps, happy endings and a bit of spice. For my girlies who need a break from angst!! And this is a bold claim, but I truly believe that this Flynn lived up to the Flynn name – he gave off enough Flynn Rider vibes to really hit the spot. And that is a high, high compliment.

“What kind of pirate would I be if I let somebody steal what is mine?”

Our fmc was a cutie patootie indeed – ready to do what she had to to protect her family, but dreaming of adventure and escapes from 1800s London. I thought she was such a bright, easy to enjoy protagonist, and humorous too. Her banter with our mmc was just too cute – they had such a fun vibe going with so much chemistry, they constantly made me giggle.

“You are mine, Princess. Mine to heal, mine to serve, mine to protect, and above all else, mine to love. Whatever you ask, it will never be too much.”

Our mmc was the perfect book boyfriend for an easy read like this one – protective, funny, trying-to-overthrow-the-monarchy-and-save-the-peoples-Robin-Hood-style, plus a massive simp! We always love a dark haired pirate who’s fully obsessed and devoted to our fmc without any drama. The dream!

“She was his own constellation. She was his way home. She was home. Perhaps it was him that had fallen prey to her. Because whether she knew it or not, she was his to protect, but he belonged to her entirely.”

Overall, this was just pure pleasure and fun. I truly had the time of my life, and I need more of these low-stress romantic adventures!! Thank you so much to the author and NetGalley for the ARC copy!

This is such a wonderful story about adventure, love and a little bit of magic.

I felt like I was reading a fairytale from my childhood with adult themes.

Emily gets sucked into her favourite book in a magical storm and finds the main character Flynn who is a morally grey pirate that has a gooey centre for the people he cares about.

Long lost family, battles, spicy scenes, adventure and heartbreak all come into this.

This was a delightful quick read.
