This is my third Jewel E Ann book and I will continue reading her books, because I just love them so much. I enjoyed this book and found it to be a quick read. Calvin and Jamie are opposites and when she moves in, there’s some animosity between them that then turns into feelings. I loved the banter and found them to be a very cute couple. By the end of the book, there are some issues that arise that could tear them apart, but it doesn’t and they work through it. I liked the setting of this book and the main characters as well as the side characters and their backstories. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet romance with a bit of angst and great banter!
Thank you to the author and the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book to read.

I am at the stage where I would read Jewel E Ann's shopping list if she made it available. Her writing never fails to hook me in and keep me captured from the first page, right to the very last. I adored Jamie and Calvin's story - it was unique, it had heart, it had spice, and in true JEA style, it also had some humour. I am so in awe of the way she manages to obtain that perfect balance of all these elements and brings them together to create the perfect story.

From Air follows Jamie, a travel nurse who wants to see more of the US after her mom passed away. She moves to Montana and into a house with 3 roommates, one of whom is Fitz, a lonely, grumpy and emotionally cut off smoke jumper who’s job is his life. They fall for each other, both knowing that Fitz won’t let himself fall completely, but Jamie never giving up on trying.

I did enjoy this! It’s hard to rate, I liked the story, the chemistry between Jamie and Fitz was amazing, the spice was good and Fitz had some good lines. Overall, I don’t think the writing was great. There were some really awkward lines and I kept thinking, no one actually talks like this in real life. The connection between Jamie and Fitz didn’t 100% make sense, it was very insta love, this weird revenge back and forth for doing dumb things that didn’t matter, kind of embarrassing each other? Didn’t really add up. It was kind of sad the way Jamie kept being with Fitz when she knew he wasn’t emotionally available to her. I hated the my person thing, way too much too soon, and I hated the whole connection in the end, I thought that was all unnecessary for the story. I think this could’ve gone a different way and it would’ve been better. I think I’d definitely try the next one and I would recommend this, but only to romance readers who are okay with what I’ve described. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

This was so emotional and heartfelt. Jewel E. Ann often pens stories that burrow deep into your heart as she wields angst like a magic wand. From Air was a beautiful story of overcoming obstacles, loss and grief, and healing and finding love again and it was worth every moment of heartache! Highly recommend to fans of Colleen Hoover's emotional, angsty romances!

This is one of those books that makes you wonder, will there actually be a HEA or are the characters just doomed for heartbreak? There are so many twists and turns about 70% of the way through that I actually audibly *gasped.*

Jewel knows how to write books that are full of angst and heartbreak, but then can turn the story around and watch healing happen between two characters that are just trying to make sense of their new reality.

Fitz lives a life solely focused on his job as a smoke jumper, so he doesn’t have to open up his life and be vulnerable to pain and love. But then Jaymes shows up as a travel nurse and rents the 4th bedroom in their house and the banter between them is pure magic. Of course the number one house rule is no sleeping with the roommates, but the forbidden roommate is almost too enticing.

I love the character development of Fitz, and how he eventually opens up to Jaymes about his past. They are each others person and it’s so sweet that they can confide in each other.

If you wanna book that is full of hard decisions, angst, healing, and love this is it.

Jewel’s books are always top tier for me and From Air is no exception.

Jewel has the relationship between Jaymes (Jamie) and Calvin (Fitz) start with some of your favorite traditional tropes like grumpy/sunshine and seamlessly she adds unexpected character reactions, humor, and suspense that for me is uniquely Jewel.

I laughed, cried, and swooned for Jaymes (Jamie) and Calvin (Fitz).
I highly recommend reading From Air and truthfully any book by Jewel E Ann.

Another incredible story from my favorite author!! Is anyone surprised because I’m not!!

Grumpy/Sunshine where Jamie is a psychiatric traveling nurse and Calvin is a firefighter who is a smoke jumper. They are forced to be around each other because Jamie is the new roommate with Calvin and his firefighter friends. This banter is top tier between these two characters.

I was enjoying myself because there is a lot of back and forth where Calvin is fighting his feelings about being in a relationship, which is some of my favorite type of tension and angst. It felt pretty solid but then the last 20% absolutley SLAYED me. I loved this one and I can’t wait to see what else comes from this series! Thank you to NetGalley and the author for sending me this to review! From Air releases 11/26/2024!

Wow. First read from this Author and I will definitely be reading more. What a great story.

Calvin, or Fitz, is a smoke jumper, always putting his life in danger. He loves the thrill, the chase, the hunt, the adrenaline, he loves his job. His job is his life. But Fitz is very grumpy, very closed off, and rarely smiles.

Jaymes is a travel nurse and she is finally going to start traveling. Her first travel job sends her north and so far she loves it. She lived in Miami and went from Sun to snow. She loves the town, the people, her job, and loves her 3 roommates. But one in particular, Fitz, she is determined to get him to open up. She is a nurse, so she naturally wants to help and fix him, but she can’t fix someone that doesn’t want to be fixed.

From day 1, there is something about Fitz and Jaymes. They go back and forth each day with their banter and their chemistry is combustible. That level of chemistry is hard to deny and it’s not long before they can’t deny it any longer. But Fitz has some secrets and soon after, Jaymes will too. Will they be able to overcome their pasts for a future?

Such a great story. Entertaining throughout, hot and steamy in some places, and tragic and tearful at other times. A complete rollercoaster ride. Hope there will be more with the other characters.

This is the kind of story that will get you hooked from the start, and never let you go!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 is so entertaining! It will make you smile and giggle immediately, and you’ll never get enough of these three friends living together and welcoming their new roommate.

I love Jewel E. Ann novels. Love them all. But Calvin Fitzgerald, he wins all the book boyfriend awards. I loved him and Jaymes. I loved the twist, while a bit crazy, I felt their responses were realistic. I can’t wait for more fire romances in this series!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I absolutely adored all of the characters and I'm hoping for future books with Maren, Will and Melissa as main characters.

The banter was outstanding. I love a closed off, semi-grumpy guy and Fitz fit the bill to a "T". He's an amazing man with so much love buried deep inside of him. Jaymes is now one of my favorite Jewel-penned female characters. She's sunny and sweet and intelligent and so darned funny. I'd love to know her in person.

It has some intrigue and a great storyline. Not to be missed!

Now what an introduction to Jewel’s books. This book gives you all the feels and let’s be honest this one felt so special. Jamie is a traveling nurse and just landed in Montana to live for the next 6 months. She will be living with three roommates that are all part of fighting fires in some way. Will is the town firefighter, Maren is a pilot and Fitz is a smoke jumper. What she learns quickly is Will is the playboy, Maren will become an amazing friend and Fitz is the grump that is all business. But as these two spend time together, they find that they have a connection that is both special and intense. I love the carefree nature of Jamie. She truly lives life to the fullest and enjoys traveling around and healing others. Fitz is a tough guy and letting people in is not his strong suit. As we learn more and more about him, we see how he works to keep people at arm’s length until Jamie manages to break down his walls. This book gives you all the emotions as you will love, cry and want to yell a few times, but throughout the whole book you will cheer for these two to find their happiness.

I have been a Jewel E Ann fan since reading Undeniably You. The characters Fritz and Jaymes develop very quickly and you become invested in the outcome. JEA normally has me in tears from her stories but this one was a pleasant surprise and not quite as angsty.
I highly recommend reading this book and any others that she written and you haven’t read.
Very quick read!

Emotional, unforgettable, yet another extraordinary great read from Uber talented Jewel is here to warm your hearts. If I could gather all the stars in the universe, I'd give every one of them to this book. Brilliantly written, evocative, funny, smart...this story deals with trauma in a lighter vein but the effect is not watered down at all. Jewel starts this banter filled, grumpy sunshine, forced housemates romance when Jaymes Lanette Andrews lands in Missoula, Montana as a travelling nurse. She ends up with perfectly-imperfect housemates.

"Well, two new friends and Calvin Fitzgerald. "

Obviously the sparks ignite immediately cause Calvin and Jaymes are both the same in demeanour. Caustic, cheeky and click baits. Ruthlessly humorous and bawdy at time, Jaymes goes out of her way to poke the bear, that is Calvin-the fire jumper. He's no stranger to dares so he not only plays along, he one-ups the challenge and almost beats Jaymes in her own games. His rugged sexiness knocks Jaymes's panties off many a times. But he sint immune to her swaying-sashaying sexiness e7ther. Some dormant fires can flare up, if the wind is right. That's exactly what happens to this chili-cooking fireman.

“You’re generous. Distractingly mesmerizing. Quirky in a brilliant way. And ineffably beautiful.”

Since I've read it super early, I won't give away too much, but suffice to say, Jewel won't be a superstar bestelling author if she didn't twist your heart.... A lot!!
So she plays Devil's advocate in putting in some WTF twists to jaymes and Calvin's almost perfect HEA, that has them split apart so hard and fast, I'm legit left standing in the empty pages thinking - WTF just happened? Where did everybody go?.

"She was the ultimate distraction. Now she’s the ultimate reminder. My light became my darkness."

All the pieces of shattered hearts are blown away like trampweed in karmic wind. I'm stunned, mouth agape, "All my Flabbers Gasted!!"
I cried so much at the cruel hands of fate that dealt these cards to this perfect couple. I shook my head in "I can't believe I read this" at almost every page in the second half.

What happened to you Jewel? Who hurt you? Why you so be so rude to my favourite people?

Fitz is broken. End of. And Jaymes's dogged persistence and patient understanding breaks down his walls, brick by brick, till you see light filling every corner of his darkened soul. I'm like Eureka!!

"Can he be like the old table someone sets at the end of their driveway? Free to a good home. Can I fix him and keep him?"

master level achieved, dungeon blown apart, the princess has rescued the prince trapped in PTSD monster....... But remember how i said WTF moments that pop up on inopportune moments?
Well, this was the master moment where story just dives down into dark depths of misery.

“Let him go. He’s not really mine.”

My tears wouldn't stop. This is one such story that jams its claws deep into your soul, and never lets go. A touching story of Fragile love that withstands all fires and storms, but falls prey to complex darkness from the past. It will eviscerate you, annihilate you completely, shatter you in a million pieces but trust jewel to glue all the pieces in the end, to make you smile...HUGE!
The problem with jea book is that its too good. Too full of yummy words. You want to retain them all, so read slowly and savour every morsel, cry every tear, hear the pounding heart.

ALL THE STARS because "This love is Worth the pain"

I had never heard of this author before but when I saw this book I instantly wanted to read it. Wow, I think I may have just found one of my new favorite romance authors!!

This was so achingly sweet with sizzling chemistry between the two main characters from the instant they meet. The banter between the two MC's is amazing and had me giggling out loud. I love a book that combines humor with romance, and I love a snark and wit and this book delivers. Also, Calvin can talk dirty to me any day! The yearning and the heartache and the issues that Calvin and Jaymes need to face are so unimaginably hard and I can't imagine being stuck in their situation. The resolution was very well done and I am so invested in these two as a couple.

This was a captivating, romance with a bit of suspense and mystery and I'm 100% looking forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3 stars.

Eh, "From Air" was readable, but not as good as some of Jewel E Ann's other books such as "Look the Part." From the synopsis, this book had a lot of promise. I liked the concept of the FMC moving in with a group of firefighters, but I just couldn't find myself caring much about Jaymes or Cal. I enjoyed the first half of the book more so than the second. It felt like a lot of plot twists were thrown in towards the book that should've been developed much earlier in the story. It felt like the story was wandering in the beginning, like I couldn't really figure out the plot or internal needs of the characters.

Overall, From Air is good for a day at the pool, but otherwise, completely forgettable.

Jamie + Calvin

25 year old Jamie left her Florida home to work as a travel nurse in Montana for six months. She moves in with three firefighters. Happy for this new opportunity and for the snow. She loves the snow!
Calvin is 35 and a very grumpy smoke jumper.
Everybody keeps warning her away from him - but Jamie is intrigued.
They become friends. Or something... But for some reason he doesn't ever want a serious relationship and she's leaving again in six months anyway.
...

What will happen with Jamie + Calvin?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!

That was adorable.
Snowy and funny and sweet and sexy ... but also a bit mysterious and sad and heartbreaking ... I loved reading this.
It was a bit fast and also slow in the beginning - no idea what I mean by that. But it got better and I loved all the people and the snow but I kinda hated his job - which is obviously way too dangerous. But the story is not really much about his job. It's about family and the past and the future and all the things.
Can't wait to see what book #2 will have in store for us.
Will and the Doc? Yes please!

► FROM AIR was a sweet and fun and emotional love story. I loved it. Go read it!

JEA is one of my unicorn authors. I know that every time I crack a book open I'm going to get a plucky heroine, a perfect hero (although her grumpy ones - like Fitz here - are ultimately my fave), and a story with romance, sexy times, and the perfect amount of heart stopping angst. I know I am safe in her hands, so I can just settle in and let the story take me away. And I got exactly what I was expecting and needing. As everything came together, I was reminded of just how brilliantly JEA can weave a storyline. I didn't even see this coming, although all the clues were there. If this were any other author, I would have been searching to try to figure out what was happening. Instead, I was just there, letting it all wash over me. That is what I truly love about JEA.
