*Blood of the Gods (Cloak of the Vampire)* by Sapir A. Englard is an absolute masterpiece! From the moment I started reading, I was hooked by Aileen Henderson’s journey. The emotional intensity of her struggle is palpable, as she navigates a world filled with darkness and danger while resisting the pull of the enigmatic Lord Ragnor Rayne. Aileen’s determination to forge her own path, despite the overwhelming odds, is truly inspiring. The blend of action, romance, and supernatural elements is flawless, making this sequel just as unputdownable as the first book.

What really stood out to me was how Englard deepened the world-building in this installment. The introduction of ancient gods and new, terrifying monsters kept the story fresh and exciting. Aileen’s character development is top-notch—she’s strong, resilient, and her fight to control her powers adds a new level of suspense to the narrative. I loved every twist and turn, and I’m eagerly anticipating where the story will go next. If you’re a fan of dark fantasy with a powerful heroine at its core, this book is a must-read!

Firstly Thank you to NetGalley and Sapir A Englard for allowing me read an advanced copy of book 2. So I could devour it and leave an honest review.

What a fantastic follow up to book 1; it did not disappoint. I binge read all of book 1 in a day and I easily did the same for book 2. It has the same addictive qualities that the Bonds that Tie series written by J Bree has.

I loved the continuation of Aileen’s story. This author does a fantastic job of delivering all of the essential information to follow the plot seamlessly without it ever being overwhelming. There is a lot going on in these books, it’s fast paced, but at no point was a confused or needing to reread chunks. Thats rare for fast paced fantasy.

Aileen is such a strong FMC, she has so much depth to her character you can’t not root for her. The side characters are also given just as much love in this series and are consistent throughout the books. No one is one dimensional or under described.

I am already desperate for book 3 and I will be eagerly stalking NetGalley to request my copy. I’ve been recommending to all my friends and followers and they seem to share the sentiment that this book is filling the gap of addictive vampire romantasy that we all crave.

This book was better than the first, the main character was less whiny and the concepts of the plot were interesting and dark, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Noob is still a cringe word to me but it was used far less and didn't take me out of the story at all.
I look forward to seeing what happens next in regard to everything that has been revealed so far.

First - a confession. I had not read the first book in this series. However, it was easy to pick up. I thought the POVs were a bit quirky. Aileen (MFC) was always first person. Ragnor (MMC) was typically third person. I felt for Aileen. All Ragnor had to do was talk to her & she was dripping down her thighs...maybe she needs to see a doctor :). I do not know the age of the author, but at times I thought it felt a bit juvenile. Maybe it's just me & getting older, but I don't recall the last time I've heard/seen "jump his bones" and I read a lot of smut. The other juvenile feeling comes from a lot of "extra fluff" - more telling vs. showing. The beginning of chapter 23 felt like a jr. high writing exercise (Fire was all I could see. Smoke was all I could smell. Ashes were all I could taste. Heat was all I could feel. Screams were all I could hear.) The book was a quick read, but felt it could have been even more condensed. The epilogue at the end did not make a lot of sense to me (again, maybe because I hadn't read the first book) but I feel like it would have been better served as a prologue as well. Lots of questions, which I assume at least some of which will be addressed in subsequent books. Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC opportunity.

I feel absolutely head over heels in love with the characters in this book, and it is fastly become one of my favorite series that I have read in 2024. I am absolutely ecstatic and cannot wait for the next book in the series. I book one and two with a week. I was so obsessed.

The thing I love the most about the series so far is that it is not your normal vampire romance. There’s a perfect amount of plot in spice which makes for the perfect story. I also feel like a lot of vampire romances. Get extremely repetitive with the same scenarios happening over and over again and that is 1000% definitely not the case with this series. Everything about the series has been a breath of fresh air and I don’t think I could get anymore in love.

I can’t wait to see what comes next, Sapir has found a lifelong reader with me 🖤

Admittedly, Cloak of the Vampire was more interesting than this continuation. It is not a stand alone book. Readers will need to read Cloak of the Vampire to understand what is going on. Personally, neither story grabbed me or kept me engaged with the characters. We never really get to know anything about them other than the MC viewing everyone as scenery in their life. What is Vampire Resources? Did vampire just map their world to humans? Why would Djinn feel the need or entitlement to mess with vampire and what is their landscape? What is happening in their world? Who watches them? The story is so surface. My nickname as a teenager was Zoey and I was born in Nevada so seeing that was interesting, though.

This was a slow read from first for me. Being at a new legion with a new lord was really interesting to read about because I got to see how cruel and dangerous they other lords can be.

I can not wait to see what happens amongst the lords and to learn more about Ragnar in book 3

Blood of the Gods by Sapir A. Englard totally pulled me in with its intense dive into Aileen’s struggle and her complex relationship with Rayne. Although the pace slowed down a bit compared to the first book, I really enjoyed the deeper character development and the new twists that kept things interesting. The added layers of vampire politics and ancient gods were intriguing and set things up nicely for the next installment. It’s a solid sequel that builds on the series well, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where the story heads next! :)

This one was a very great read. I enjoyed it. The action, the plot and the characters all made this book fun to read. I really enjoyed the world the author created!

The first book left too many secrets that are needed to be uncovered and the second book was just at the right pace. The way the secrets slowly unfolded was so engaging and kept me on my toes. And just when I thought that was end of it, more secrets and mysteries were revealed. It left the impression that there is more to the story than it is. It really is a good story and I have enjoyed the first and second book.

After reading the first book I knew I had to read the next installment, so when i saw it on Netgalley, i placed my request.

If book one was riveting, book two is Intriguing. I enjoyed reading both books so much and while the tension was mostly gone in this book, there was still a lot of suspense waiting for the next big moment between Aileen and Ragnor, i sure wasn’t disappointed.

I’m so looking forward to the next read in this series.

I so badly wanted to love this but it fell flat for me and I couldn’t personally get into it. I do think there’s others that will enjoy it though.

I enjoyed that there was such an interesting twist in Aileen’s history but have so many questions left for the third book (not to mention the twist at the end UGH). I’m mostly feeling impatient for the pieces to fall into place!

I loved the first book in this series, it really set this series up for success with great world building and wasn't rushed like similar stories in the genre. As such I had big expectations for the second book. The mixture of tension and suspense keeps you hooked.

Now, I also really enjoyed reading Blood of the Gods the second novel in the Cloak of the Vampire series. While the tension was mostly gone, there was still a lot of suspense waiting for the next big moment between Aileen and Ragnor (and I wasn't disappointed). I loved the introduction of new characters and more lore around the Morrow Gods and Aileen's past.

Overall a really great read. Great lore building and character development and really sets you up for the story to continue. Excited to see what the third book in this series has to offer.

I was so happy when I saw this as an ARC after the ending of Book one I've been craving to read more about Aileen and Ragnor.

I am still reeling after finishing this one and hoping for a 3rd installment SOON.
