This was my first book by this author and I did enjoy the cozy paranormal romance. It did feel a little too insta-lovey to me and the pacing went back and forth from slow to fast. That said, I'm all in on Emmy. I need her story!

Thank you, NetGalley and La Manna Book Publushing for this ARC. I love this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well. It had all the wonderful things that I enjoy such as fall, witchy, cozy vibes, and a wonderful cast of characters that was so beautifully written. I enjoyed the banter between both characters and seeing their relationship flourished throughout the book. I loved all the magical elements as well and I would highly recommend this book and I will continue to read more books from this author. Definitely a five star read.

This was a fabulous read. A brand new author to me but I so enjoyed her original world building and a new twist on witches, vampires and the supernatural world. If you love paranormal romance then this is one for you, a sexy hero, a troubled heroine, a fun flatmate (I'm hoping her story will be told at some point) and Elfin skulduggery. A pacey read brim full of magical originality.

a quick, fun, paranormal romance perfect for getting into the spooky season. when you wanted something light but fits the vibe.

a cute little romcom pallet after reading a fantasy book. like most romances, i find it underdeveloped, from them hexing to loving to quickly, it sort of felt rushed??? i wouldn't say this was an "enemies to lovers" book as well.

i was hoping i would have loved this one but it was mid but still, thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the free copy!

Firstly, I want to thank Gina LaManna and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun and easy read, although I had a hard time connecting with the characters, and things happening too fast.
But it was a light read and a silly romcom paranormal romance.

I love a good paranormal romance. The premise of this book seemed fun. The plot is a bit underdeveloped though. For instance, they go from hexing each other, to loving very quickly. It is closed door BTW, for anyone looking for spice levels. The plot introduces family and others without full explanation until after the fact...similar to the FMC's refusal to use her powers. We don't find out why until later. I thought they had chemistry but there wasn't enough of a connection to say love. This book just was not well flushed out enough for me to be into it.

trivia is an entirely average witch, as a taxi driver is New York she has spent her whole life repressing her magic. Until she meets a handsome vampire and activates her powers by shooting a cork from a wine bottle at his face. The vampire is Dominic who not only is a billionaire but owns Trixie's apartment building and is trying to kick her out. Trixie casts a tiny hex and Dom retaliates. It is all fun and games until Dom's brother arrives and is hellbent on revenge and now they must fight to save alive.

This is a simple and fun rom-com that is a quick and bingeable read. The romance is very insta love vibes but also super cute and all of the characters were very likable.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! Hate Hex had a fun, urban and magical setting nestled into a paranormal corner of NYC. The writing and jokes were surface level but I didn’t find it cheesy or obnoxious in any way.

There were two major things in this paranormal romcom that did not work for me. The characters had one personality trait each, Dom, our vampire was very rich, and Trixie, our witch, was very poor. And really that’s it. Lastly the pacing was a bit of a mess - the start was strong and even the enemies portion was believable, but the transition to lovers was instant and awkward. And finally, the resolution to the major conflict was absurd.

This paranormal rom-com is a delightful romp through the supernatural streets of New York City, blending magic, romance, and a healthy dose of enemies-to-lovers tension.

Trixie Gardens, our endearing protagonist, is a down-on-her-luck witch who drives a taxi in the paranormal district of NYC. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Dominic Kent, a brooding vampire with a penchant for trouble. Their first encounter, involving a misfired wine cork and an accidental hex, sets the stage for a rollercoaster of magical mishaps and witty banter.

What makes this novel truly shine is the dynamic between Trixie and Dominic. From their initial animosity fueled by Dominic's attempts to evict Trixie from her rent-controlled apartment, to their reluctant alliance against a common foe, their relationship evolves in a way that feels both natural and enchanting. The story skillfully weaves humor and heart into their interactions, making every page turn with anticipation.

The plot thickens when Dominic's estranged brother enters the scene with malevolent intentions, forcing Trixie and Dominic to confront not only external threats but also their growing attraction. The chemistry between them sizzles beneath the surface, adding layers of tension and excitement to an already engaging storyline.

Throughout the novel, the writing sparkles with vivid descriptions of a magical New York City, where witches and vampires coexist alongside humans, and where the line between reality and enchantment blurs effortlessly. The pacing is brisk, keeping readers on their toes with a blend of action-packed sequences and tender, introspective moments.

This charming paranormal rom-com will enchant readers who love a good dose of magic with their romance. The tale is as spellbinding as it is heartwarming, leaving readers eagerly awaiting more from this talented storyteller.

“Hate Hex” by Gina Lamanna is a delightful quick read with a touch of comedy and a fun take on magical realism. The world-building is creative and enjoyable, though I felt it could have used more depth to really flesh out its potential. The main characters, Trixie and Dominic, are an interesting match but lack the depth that could have made them truly memorable. The nature of their attraction is there but it is just thrusted into the story and not nurtured, which is sad because I do enjoy a nice ‘Fated Mates’ or a good ‘Enemies to Lovers’ trope.

I also felt like there was a slight discrepancy in the plot that revealed itself a couple of times. One moment that stood out was when Grandma Betty says, “During those years, I kept trying to find you, multiple times, but your mother didn’t want me to find you...” This seemed contradiction with Trixie’s background, as she spoke many times about how she spent her childhood living in an apartment passed down through the women in her family, including Grandma Betty. Even though, as a child, she often stayed with the men in her mother’s life, she refers to the apartment as her home and the place that her and her mother always came back to- it feels like her grandmother should have been able to find her at least once during the eighteen years that she was supposedly trying to find Trixie. Despite these minor contradictions, “Hate Hex” is still a fun read that could have been even better with a bit more depth and development.

I rated this book three stars because, while entertaining, the plot and the development of the story fell flat. If we had more depth, details, or a more subtle ramp up then I would have definitely rated it higher. Overall, I did enjoy Gina Lamanna’s story and the imagination behind it.

I loved this book! It was such a fun witchy romcom that had me giggling and I couldn't put it down (no seriously I finished it in one day it was that good). It gives me the same kind of vibes as My Roommate is a Vampire!

This was a fun, sometimes silly, rom com….just with witches, vampires and secret societies! Trixie is barely squeaking by and as her 30th birthday approaches her repressed magic is building up more and more looking for any way out. Enter Dominic, vampire extraordinaire who just might be the key to unlocking Trixie’s magic and her heart. This was a fun and easy read that would be perfect for a beach or pool!

Hate Hex is my first book read by Gina LaManna so I must admit I was unfamiliar with her style previous to this but I found it easy to read, as a sweet, if slightly cheesy, paranormal rom-com. As a millennial who grew up reading Harry Potter and was emotionally invested in the Twilight series, I found the winks to them slighly nostalgic and cute. Both Trixie and Dom are solid characters who start off with the a very slight enemies to lovers vibe (read: she dislikes him and he's obsessed with her, love that) and quickly start spending more time together, entering a slow-burn fiendship/relationship with some mysterious things happening around them as Trixie reclaims her heritage and Dom helps her along the way.

Overall, I felt the plot line was predictable but I'm not surprised considering it is a lighthearted rom-com. I enjoyed the side characters whenever they made an appearance, especially Emmy and Belinda. I think it's an enjoyable, easy read and i'm glad I was able to rewiew the ARC, I am definitely going to check out some more books by Gina to add to my TBR.

A light and easy read full of romance, comedy and some spooky moments! The storyline was easy to follow, I loved the enemies to lovers romance with sides of banter and hexes that occured between Trixie and Dom. This book would be amazing to read during spooky season as it really does emit paranormal vibes! Highly recommend.

Thank you Netgalley and Gina LaManna for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

Hate Hex is a super cute paranormal rom com. Trixie is a reluctant witch and 'supernatural Uber driver' in a secret paranormal neighborhood in New York. She's so 'magically repressed' that she is on the verge of combusting - and, of course, the massive concentration of power has attracted the attention a mysterious vampire, who just also happens to be Trixie's landlord. Hijinks ensue with a hate-to-love romance, hate hex pranks, an unwilling political campaign, and an evil vampy brother.

This is a quick and lighthearted read. Because it is short, it does feel like the romance happens pretty quickly, but it was still a fun read. I finished it in an afternoon and have already recommended it to a friend who loves witchy rom coms!

If you are looking for a quick and cute book that you could finish in one sitting if you wanted to this is it. All the characters were likable. I enjoyed the FML and her Roommate/Friend relationship and that the FML had struggle that she needed to overcome. The MMC was dreamy. and I liked the chemistry. The romance was quick but you will understand why later. Cute fall read. to get you in the mood for spooky season.
