Name: Hate Hex
Author: Gina LaManna
Release: 1st September
Rating: 4/5
I was excited to start this book because I love a good paranormal romance,From the very first chapter of this book I knew it would be high up in my ratings.
Starting from the first chapter there was so much chemistry between the main characters. It's dual pov which made me enjoy it so much more because I love knowing what each characters thinking.
I finished this book in two sitting and could not put it down. I enjoyed the ending as it was not rushed at all and gave a really good end to the book. It's a perfect read especially this time of year.
It's a fun paranormal Romance for people who enjoy paranormal books with vampires and witches.
*Thank you NetGalley and publisher for providing me this arc in return for an honest review*

I received this ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a light and easy read. I was able to get through it quickly- even if I didn’t struggle to put it down. The banter between the main characters was fun, and I loved Trixie’s grandmother. I wish the pranks went on longer I think it was cute when they were engaging in back and forth pranks. However, for me at least, the main part of the story was really lacking. I found this book fell more into insta love territory than an enemies to lovers story which was what I was expecting by the blurb provided. I didn’t really understand how the magic structure operated, the magic definitely seemed more like an afterthought. It being a quick standalone though falling under paranormal rom com I was not expecting anything super in depth. This story was definitely not bad- just incredibly average. It would not be the first thing I’d recommend but I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’d never recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book.
I wanted Dom and Trixie to be together .
I want another book about the roommate, Emmy.
I want one about Belinda.
I think this is such an easy read and the characters were likeable!
The writing did seem a little YA for me but I still enjoyed it and would read another one if she turns this into a series. Definitely recommend picking this one up if you like a magical/paranormal romance!

This was such a fun read.
I love an enemies to lovers trope!
Thank you to Netgalley, LaManna Books and Gina LaManna for giving me an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

Anyone who knows me has heard me say that fantasy is just not my thing. And I owe Gina LaManna a huge apology for forgetting about her amazing fantasy universe, in which Hate Hex is the newest entry! I love her Magic and Mixology series, and her Hex Files series is just perfect. Returning to this magical universe is like coming home.
Welcome to the Hollow, a magical city near the sixth (magical) borough of New York. Meet Trixie, a witch repressing her magical powers whose about to me evicted from her beloved apartment and just got nominated for a seat on a council for magical beings à la goblet of fire style. Then there’s Dominic, the rich vampire landlord of Trixie’s apartment complex, also nominated for the same council seat as Trixie who can’t stop thinking about her. Is it hate or is it love?
This is a fun book, not to be taken seriously. I highly recommend reading the other books in Gina LaManna's universe before this one so you understand the fascinating magic system in place, but it can be a standalone! It’s a quick read too with interesting characters and plots. My only critique is that everything moves a bit too quickly and isn’t fully fleshed out. However, maybe a sequel or another book in the universe (cough cough a sequel to The Undercover Witch??) could help there! Either way this is a 5 star read for me for the simple pure enjoyment of this book, which will be available on September 1st! Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book!

I read this book in 7 hours! Trixie and Dom were such fun characters and I loved their love/hate relationship. A magical example of enemies to lovers! The development of their relationship was enjoyable to follow from beginning to end and is the stuff of fantasies! The tension between them was 🔥

2.75 stars. Sighhhh... this book was fine. There wasn't a ton of characters to follow so you had time to get to know everyone fairly well and become connected to them. I liked Trixie, Dom, and Emmy just fine but honestly there was nothing super engaging about any of them. Emmy was the best of them all in my opinion and that's just because I wanted to know more about her potions.
The plot really fell flat for me. I thought there was going to be a lot going on due to the different subplots that were introduced in the first quarter of the book but they are kinda just fell to the wayside while we watched Dom and Trixie fall in love (did they though?). It wasn't until the last 25 pages that everything was wrapped up and sadly there was sooo much explaining that had to happen for you to understand how it was neatly tied up in a bow.
For a paranormal book with different species (races?) like witches, vampires, elves, etc, there was barely any world building. How do you not use your powers? Why are there 15 different types of magic? How are these separate (human/paranormal) worlds living in cohesion? I don't know about anyone else but I had so many questions while reading and none of them were answered by the end.
Honestly, I probably wouldn't recommend this book to anyone but it was a super quick read so at least I didn't spend a ton of time on it.

Thank you to NeGalley and LaManna Books for this ARC! *Hate Hex* by Gina LaManna is a delightful blend of romance and mystery set in a world of magic and curses. The witty banter between the characters, especially the enemies-to-lovers dynamic, is both entertaining and engaging. LaManna’s world-building is rich and immersive, drawing readers into a charming small town filled with quirky, magical inhabitants. The plot is fast-paced with just the right amount of twists, keeping readers hooked until the very end. Overall, *Hate Hex* is a fun, light-hearted read that’s perfect for fans of paranormal romance.

This was a fun paranormal rom-com to pass some time on the beach with! Trixie and Dom had fun banter and it was easy to enjoy their relationship as it shifted from annoyance to romance; it's not a groundbreaking plot, but it's good fun.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.
This book was a delight! I wasn't expecting really anything, and I had no idea where it was going as the story moved forward, but I was gripped throughout the story. Trixie is such a cool character and Dom was interesting. I liked the differences in this world building from some other paranormal stories and the differences between these witches, vampires, elves, etc made the world and the story so much more complex and well thought out.
This was a fun, quick read and I had a great time falling into the world of The Hollow, and I can't wait to read some more of Gina's books and find myself back in this world!
Trixie Gardens is one average witch, thank you very much.
A down-on-her luck taxi driver in the paranormal section of New York, Trixie has spent a lifetime repressing her magic. Until one night, she meets a grumpy, devilishly handsome vampire in a dark alley, and she accidentally activates her powers by shooting the cork from a cheap cabernet bottle at his face.
It turns out the vampire is none other than Dominic Kent—the stormy, rough-around-the-edges billionaire who owns Trixie’s apartment building. When she discovers Dominic is trying to kick her out of the only place she’s ever called home (and did she mention rent-controlled?), it’s hate at first sight.
After Trixie puts a teeny, tiny hex on her new nemesis, Dom retaliates in a big way. It’s all clever enchantments and witty curses, until Dominic’s brother suddenly returns, hellbent on revenge. When things turn deadly, Dominic and Trixie must bond together to survive.
As Dom and Trixie fight to stay alive, they try to ignore the electricity crackling between them that’s got nothing to do with magic. However, before she knows it, Trixie finds herself wondering why the line between hate and love feels like it’s so thin it might have vanished entirely…

Very cute paranormal rom-com. Dom and Trixie are such a cute couple! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick and fun read. Perfect read for spooky season.
Thanks to the author and publisher for an advanced copy of this ebook.

I loved this cute supernatural romcom. I love a grumpy vampire and that combined with an enemies-to-lovers made this a really enjoyable read. I'd definitely recommend this if you're a fan of novels like Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot and A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley.
Thanks again to the publisher and author for the ARC!

It's a cute enough story but I just don't like these specific romance tropes. I especially don't like one partner making decisions for another partner with telling them because they think they know best. I liked the complexity of Trixie's magic and her relationship with her mother because it placed limitations on magic. But the romance itself was so flimsy and the last third of the book became predictable. It also took a lot longer than I expected for the hexing part of the story to start. Not for me.

I enjoyed this paranormal romance. I liked both Dom and Trixie, and their backstories added nicely to their characters. There was a nice amount of humor and I liked how the story developed. This book had me firmly in it's grip, and was difficult to put down to go and "adult". Overall, an entertaining read. *I recevied an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

ah i just LOVE romcoms that have the element of witchyness to them. they remind me halloweentown or hocus pocus but add some spice! i liked this one alot, this was my first read from this author so i wasnt sure what to expect. i loved the plot and characters!

This was a cute, fun rom-com. If you are looking for a quick read with instalove and small bit of mystery this is for you. Dom and Trixie are fun together. I would recommend this to any one looking for a quick read.
I recieved this are an ARC from net galley but all opinions are mine.

I’ve read other books by Gina LaManna that I really enjoyed but this one just fell a little short for me. I just couldn’t get through it and I had to DNF it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review. All my opinions are my own.

An enemies-to-lovers paranormal rom-com!

This is a cute and light paranormal romance about a witch and vampire who enter into a hex war against each other. This novel has some humor and character development that makes Trixie and Dominic relatable. I found the dialogue in this novel a little awkward which is what drove the 3 star rating.

This book was good, not great. I enjoyed the story & characters, but I felt that I was reading constantly waiting for something BIG to happen. It eventually did but I did think this book had the potential for more.
