What a fun, quick read!

Trixie Gardens is one average witch.
She is a taxi driver in the paranormal section of New York, and she has spent a lifetime repressing her magic.

One night, she meets a grumpy, vampire in a dark alley, and she accidentally activates her powers. It turns out the vampire is none other than Dominic Kent—the rough-around-the-edges billionaire who owns Trixie’s apartment building.

When she discovers Dominic is trying to kick her out of the only place she’s ever called home (and did she mention rent-controlled?), it’s hate at first sight.

Trixie puts a teeny, tiny hex on her new nemesis, Dom retaliates in a big way. (Hello enemies to lovers trope?!)

I absolutely loved this story—it was so much fun!

The grumpy-sunshine trope was spot on, with Trixie the quirky witch and Dominic the brooding vampire billionaire creating chemistry.

Their banter kept me laughing and turning pages.

Thank you NetGalley and Gina LaManna for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book during my camp, so I got slower through it than usual. I think that was the best way to read this book, because it is very fast paced.

Trixie feels like a very real person. Her story was so sad, I really felt for her.

Dom was the definition of a simp. Literally. But he was a cutie, so it's okay.

The story was really entertaining, with the whole political side. Normally, I don't really like politics, but now it wasn't really in the spotlight, which made it more fun for me to read.

A witchy paranormal romance with whitty banter and a meddling grandma.

I loved this book. It was a quick read as the angst and tension with cute pining had me fuelled to finish in a day.

Dom was so protective and cute for Trixie, even with his grumpy, brooding personality (umm swoon). I was giggling when he got hexed 🤣 Like, at least Trixie can agree that an overly smily man is just creepy haha.

Trixie is clumsy and shy witch who is also a slightly pessimistic ray of sunshine.... who has a grandma who is all to happy to help hex her grumpy boyfr-- vampire.

Definitely recommend for anyone who loves a cute, funny, clumsy, enemies to lovers, paranormal romance (in the cosy feel-good sense).

This was a cute quick witchy read, perfect for Halloween season. Trixie is a down on her luck witch who represses her magic. She meets Dom a vampire and the owner of her apartment building (that he is planning to sell). Trixie instantly dislikes Dom and decides to hex him. Both Dom and Trixie get nominated for a wildcard position in the circle which is a magical council. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.

3.5⭐️ This book was a cute quick witchy read! I think this book would be perfect for fall/halloween time. Hate Hex has vampires, witches, elves & of course humans too. There are definitely touch her & die vibes, especially when they are enemies & I was loving the pranks/hexes & romantic comedy vibes it was giving. I was loving the book in the beginning & was flying through it! The middle got a little cheesy at times & I definitely felt like the way their relationship blossomed was a little rushed. One page she was starting to work for him & the next they were practically dating. I wanted a little more into the relationship turning from friends to lovers bc I feel like we got a lot of detail when the relationship turned from enemies to friends. But overall this was a really quick & cute witchy read & I did enjoy it! Would definitely recommend!💜🖤

I’d like to thank NetGalley, Gina LaManna & LaManna Books for an ARC of Hate Hex in exchange my honest opinion.

thank you to net galley for a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest arc review!

i enjoyed hate hex by gina lamanna! it was a cute, cozy fantasy, with very low stakes, which made it very enjoyable to read. there wasn’t much world building so it was very easy to get into, and i was hooked from the start!

i do feel that there were some questions left unanswered at the end, and the story could have been longer to allow for more development within the characters. i also think that some of the plot points of the story were unrealistic because of how little they were focused on throughout the story.

all in all, i’d definitely recommend this book as a “refresher” read, or a palette cleanser between books!

I loved this book.

It was a fun, easy read. It starts off kinda as an enemies to lovers between the FMC who is a witch and the MMC who is a vampire, but turns more insta love. For some reason I can forgive this when it’s a paranormal romance.

The romance between the main characters was cute and the side characters were solid. I finished this book in a day as I couldn’t put it down.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ginna Lamanna and LaManna books for the ARC

If you're searching for a simple, quick, fun romcom this should be your cup of tea! The romance was pretty cute (even though it's insta-love) and the characters were lovable. I usually dislike multiple POVs in romance books but here it worked well towards making the story feel complete.

I love a good witchy romance read and this book did not disappoint. It is a fun closed door romance about a witch that refuses to use her magic because of family reasons but holding onto those reasons is holding her back. She meets a billionaire vampire in a dark alley and for him it is an immediate attraction. She takes a while to fall for him but he can’t seem to stay away. Meanwhile they have many obstacles on the way to being together, one being an election for a position neither of them wants, the sale of her apartment building by him and his homicidal brother.

I didn’t know what to expect coming into this read but it was so much fun. The plot was original and overall well developed. The secondary characters were a lot of fun, I loved that he fell first and wouldn’t let her go and she was just the right amount of prickly to pull off the enemies to lovers trope. There was good character development throughout. I just found sometimes the writing style was a bit choppy in terms of explaining certain plot points that took away from the overall plot enjoyment at times. This book was a bingeable paranormal love story that I would recommend to anyone who wants a coming of age story of a witch who comes into her powers both literally and metaphorically with the help of a handsome vampire.

While this was a fun, quick witchy paranormal romance - I am a sucker for these.

I wish I could rate this book higher, but the insta-love and Trixie's point of view just didn't really deliver fully where I think the premise could have gone.

Trixie and Dom both seemed a little underdeveloped as characters, and sometimes just seemed like the typical archetypes and needed a little more depth.

I was able to receive an E-ARC through NetGalley and Victory Editing. I really enjoyed this book. It was very light and an easy read. Trixie is a witch who does want to use magic due to past trauma. Dominic is a vampire who owns the apartment building they both live in and is trying to sell it. They started off an enemies but hexes quickly flew as they were both in the running to join the inner circle. The side characters were funny and a good addition to the main two. Overall I enjoyed this book and read it quickly!

This was one of my fastest reads! I could sit down for 30 mins and complete over 10% of the book without even realizing.

I absolutely enjoyed the writing, the plot, the characters (especially Gran, if you know you know).

It’s a sweet paranormal romantic comedy. Perfect for reading in the early fall, late summer transitional period.

The timeline is quick, but thankfully there is a reason explained within the story itself to make it easier to accept. I do wish that some previously mentioned statuses weren’t repeated soooo often but it helped build the dynamic of one of the main characters.

I will definitely look into more Kate Robb rom-coms after this first introduction to her writing.

1.5 stars.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I couldn't connect with the characters at all. Trixie, I found to be woe me type of way. She has suppressed her magic for so long, and as the reader, the reason why is not shared for a while, especially the pivotal moments between a reader and the character. I wanted to understand her better and could only assume. Likewise, I couldn't buy into the stories as well. At least it was a quick read.

The redemping aspect for me was Trixie's roommate Emmy. She was a really good friend to her and seemed to give her the best advice.

A typical enemies to lovers trope with paranormal twist with the FMC being a witch and the MMC being a vampire.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Gina LaManna’s book and giving me the opportunity to read this and share my honest review.

Hate Hex by Gina LaManna is a enjoyable afternoon read into a world where magic and modern life collide.

Trixie, our down-on-her-luck witch, finds herself entangled with Dominic, a grumpy billionaire vampire. Their story starts with hexes and curses but takes an unexpected turn when they’re forced to work together against a threat.

The story is a cute blend of familiar tropes - enemies to lovers, protective alpha, and billionaire romance - wrapped up in a whimsical, magical package.

Trixie is a relatable character with a touch of magic while Dominic is a classic tortured hero with a surprising soft side. The banter between the two is sharp and witty, making it impossible to put the book down.

While the plot is predictable in parts, the author’s witty dialogue keeps things interesting. However, I did find the transition from enemies to lovers a bit abrupt. A little more time simmering in their mutual dislike might have added extra depth to their eventual romance.

However, this is a small complaint in an otherwise enjoyable read. If you're looking for a lighthearted, entertaining story with a touch of magic, Hate Hex is definitely worth a read.

This is my first NetGalley book and I don’t think I could have had a better one! This was such an easy and fun read. I didn’t know this was part of collection until after I finished but I would definitely like to read some of the other books now. I don’t know if there are plans for a sequel but I would read it!

I loved all of the plot lines! I would have loved more of the wild card election. I don’t know why but that was the storyline that I liked the most! All of them were good but this one just felt like something special and different.

I love that I didn’t have to put a lot of effort into this read and honestly that makes made the book an instant favorite for me. I like to read stuff that requires me to be involved but sometimes I just want to enjoy the experience without a lot of effort. This book gave me the ability to do that!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Gina LaManna’s latest book! I’ve read so many of her books and series and was thrilled to check out her newest early.

That being said, as a Gina LaManna fan, “Hate Hex” was missing the humor I’ve grown accustomed to from her. I didn’t really connect with the main characters or buy in to their stories in a way that would make me want to pick up a future book about them. Honestly, I’d pick up a book about Emmy (the best friend) before I’d go for another Trixie/Dominic story.

It was a quick read and pretty typical of an “enemies to lovers” trope with a little paranormal thrown in, but not as intense as you’d expect.

2.8/5 rounded up
Hate Hex was a quick read about a witch and a vampire who start as rivals but can't fight their fated bond. Trixie has past trauma being used for her magic so she has been suppressing it for years and it's reaching a boiling point. Dominic is her vampire landlord that notices how powerful she is from the beginning and also feels a connection to her like no other. He's also trying to sell the building to distance himself from his brother so they don't see eye to eye at first. Since it's a fairly short book everything happens fairly quickly and it's why I think some things seem rushed and the pacing felt off. Trixie and Dominic's draw to each other felt very superficial for the first 50-60% of the story and lacked a bit more personality or interactions to feel that connection. I liked Trixie's roommate Emmy, she was a really good friend to her and seem to give her the best advice. The political subplot seemed a bit like an afterthought also. Overall this is an easy read good to pick up for when you need a break from heavier books.
