A fun look into the esteemed artists life. I loved learning about him and his life. It was a bit sad, but I loved that he had his brother by him no matter what! I knew bits and pieces about his life but it was interesting to do a bit of a dive into it!

I am a huge fan of the Little People, Big Dreams series. They are fantastic books to introduce children to amazing people throughout history. The Vincent van Gogh book is no exception. The artwork is fantastic and the text is interesting and appropriate for young readers. This would be a wonderful addition to any classroom library!

What a masterful and artistic addition to the Little People, Big Dream Series!
Vincent Van Gogh was a talented and fascinating person to all ages. I, especially, admired the way his life was presented in this book for young readers. He led a troubled life and the presentation in this book of mental illness was handled sensitively so children could grasp what Van Gogh experienced in an informative but not a frightening manner.
The illustrations of his beautiful paintings were lovely. Well done!

I love the Little People Big Dreams series.
Right away I noticed how different the illustrations were in this book, compared to other's in the series.
The illustration style is similar to Van Gogh's style of painting- which I loved to see.
You could see pieces of Van Gogh's art throughout the book which was great.
I thought this was a great book, and being a boy mom, especially loved the focus on the love between Vincent and his brother.

An illustrated children's picture book on the life and work of the artist Vincent van Gogh. This book is especially beautifully illustrated. I appreciate how the illustrations differ from the style I usually see in this series to evoke the brushstrokes and rich color palette which are signature elements of van Gogh's signature style.

The story is well-formatted for young audiences (ie, not too wordy), although the result of smoothing out van Gogh's rough edges to make an age-appropriate story is a little funny. Even so, a lovely little book to introduce young readers to the beloved artist who wasn't fully appreciated in his lifetime.

What a lovely addition to the series!
This one is about Vincent van Gogh, and I was curious how the sometimes hard topics concerning his mental illness would be approached in a book like this. I admire the author for approaching them, but keeping them at bay enough to not overload the reader.
I loved the core message of the book: even when we have problems, we can still find solace in doing things we like to do.

I also loved the illustrations and figuring out where they were inspired by Van Gogh's works!

Another great little book in this series! The life of Vincent van Gogh is a tragedy with a lot of beauty, and this simple picture book portrays that wonderfully. I love how the bright illustrations remind you of his brilliant work, too.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

The Little People, Big Dreams series has over 100 books and I’ve read a nice sampling of them. Vincent van Gogh covers his early life, relationship with his brother and his turning to do his own art. It does include his cutting off his own ear and refers to his mental instability as his mind being unwell. I love Van Gogh. I wish that this book was written for older grades and that more complexity could be shared. But as a book for ages 4-7, it covers the basics and includes lovely colorful illustrations.

This is a perfect child-level biography of Vincent van Gogh. His story can be a little dark in spots, but it is handled quite well in this book and addressed appropriately for the age group.

Now this is how it should be done – not just this series, but any attempt at young biographies. Of course we don't get the end, but we have the nitty-gritty of the ear episode, the black spells, the early gloomy artwork, coloured "like dusty potatoes"… In a series that so often has dreadful visuals, these are amongst the best it's ever had – nicely attuning themselves to van Gogh's output, and scattering clues to his art throughout – the wispy trees from "Starry Night" are actually on the second spread here, as if van Gogh was forever learning and taking inspiration. We see Vincent in the yellow room, of "Bedroom in Arles" fame, but while it's definitely based on his work it's not some misguided, slavish tribute.

The visual references might mean little if the words didn't work, but they do, and this is now the standout junior biography of the Dutchman. He failed at several careers before painting, and still never sold more than a handful of them, but as we see here even when we're down in the dumps, doing something we love – especially if others love us doing it – is always a key to success.

Wow, incredibly well written book. I love the “Little People, Big Dream” series for my kids. This one will definitely be a go to for us. Aside from seeing Vincent van Gogh’s art and knowing about his ear incident- I never knew about his brother Theo being supportive and encouraging him to pursue art. I also like how this book brings up mental health in a way that can more easily make sense to kids.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

The story introduces young readers to it's subject via beautiful illustrations, painted in bright colours reminiscent of the painter's most popular work. The writing is clear and concise, if a bit simplistic. If they publish it in Bulgaria, so I'll definitely recommend it as.a at the bookstore I work at.

An age-appropriate introduction to Vincent van Gogh, perfect for its intended audience, and the illustrations are STUNNING. I loved them so much, I would like a physical copy of this little book for that alone.

Last year I had the pleasure of visiting an immersive Van Gogh experience. This book does a great job of embodying his art style and work. I felt like I could have been looking at his work through this book. I loved the actual paintings being remade as part of the pages.

I enjoyed learning about his life and can see how this is the perfect format for younger children. It delt with his big feelings in an age appropriate way while still highlighting that even kids can feel this way (sad, lonely, rejection, defeat, etc.)

Young Vincent was something of a loner who sometimes had difficulty with his emotions. He tried a variety of jobs until he discovered that painting suited him. He worked to develop his own style and now his paintings are known the world over.

There are several things that I like about this book. The illustrations are fun. The story itself stays away from the darker times in van Gogh’s life (which is appropriate for this story). Author Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara instead focuses on the search to find meaningful work despite having challenges with emotional regulation. Overall, the story is uplifting and offers hope to children who might feel othered because of their interests or emotional regulation challenges.

This book is great for kids who are interested in art or history. This is one in the series Little People, Big Dreams.

I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and Quarto Publishing–Frances Lincoln Children’s Books , and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Informative book filled with lovely nods to Van Gogh’s most famous works, and the importance of having someone who believes in you and encourages you.

A beautiful picture book for young readers featuring the incredible biography of the artist Vincent Van Gogh. The illustrations to accompany this story are just stunning as they portray the colour, light and beauty of Van Gogh's beautiful work, such as the starry night and the sunflowers. His life was as colourful as his painted work. It is lovely to share great artists with young children and share the rich artistic culture with a new generation. My daughter is an avid collector of all the Little People, Big Dreams books, even now at 11years. She loves the gorgeous pictures and mini biographies that give her a glimpse into people's, cultures and important instances in the history of our world. This will make the perfect addition to her collection. #VincentVanGogh #mariaisabelsanchezvegara #netgalley

A marvelous addition to one of my fav "little bio" series for kids. The illustrations are exquisite, and young readers will learn about the challenging life of the artist in a way that gives them compassion for him and awe for his art. Also includes a helpful timeline and photos,
