Unfortunately, this was just OK for me. I liked it at the beginning, but the ending in particular was a bit unsatisfying. I was also confused with the characters as the wrong name was used a few times (e.g. Josie instead of Tara).
All in all, I give this book three stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I was pleasantly surprised with Two Sisters by Lorna Henderson. Firstly, the title, cover, and brief description of the book really drew me in. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began reading, but what a journey Lorna Henderson took readers on!
I enjoy books where one has very likable characters, but also characters one may loathe, because it makes it all the more realistic. I loved the sisterly bond between Josie and Tara, with the twist of secrets throughout the present and the past. How much can one person hide?
Speaking of the past, I liked the usage of flashbacks in Two Sisters, and how, as a reader, I was left guessing, “now who could this character be?” While all questions are answered in time, the readers definitely cannot guess what’s going to happen next! If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, you’ll love this book!
I only wish it wasn’t wrapped up so quickly, because the end seemed a bit rushed. However, overall, it was an interesting and captivating read!

Lorna Henderson did a masterful storytelling job. The way the chapters were crafted throughout it was hard to tell what twists and turns this story was taking which made for non-stop, engaging, page-flipping enjoyment! It was hard to put this book down!

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley, I enjoyed this book, but unfortunately it felt quite flat after a promising and intriguing start. I was interested in the story, but numerous threads were introduced and then not really explored much. The twists towards the end, while (mostly) unexpected, were unfortunately rushed through, and the revelations were not particularly clear.

This was a quick read, though more domestic suspense than a mystery/thriller, in my opinion. It centers on sisters Tara and Josie, who haven’t been close over the last couple of years but are thrown into some family drama when bones are discovered in the backyard of their childhood home, where Tara now lives. The POV alternates primarily between the two, with a few chapters from other characters thrown in throughout.

While Josie and Tara seemed like likable characters, I didn’t find their voices to be all that distinct, and sometimes had to remind myself whose chapter I was reading. I appreciated the fact that their father and grandmother were close, which also added to the family drama. I figured out the big twist pretty early in but there were a couple other surprises, all which made for a quick read. The ending tied things up nicely, though was a little anticlimactic.

Overall, this was a fast paced read that held my interest, though I didn’t feel like anything shocking really occurred. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Secrets are never good especially when they are held within your family because it will always come back and get you. This book is definitely a reminder of that and how bad things can go due to those secrets. This was a bit slow moving and the back and forth can be a bit confusing though it still had a great twist in it.

Two Sisters by Lorna Henderson is a recommended family drama full of secrets and reads like a soap opera. This is a revised edition of the novel that was originally published as Where Are You? by L.E. Hill.

Tara and Josie had their mother leave them when they were children. Now Tara and her family are living in their old childhood home and fixing it up. Josie is staying nearby with their grandmother after she left her husband. Their father lives in the same town. When builders find bones buried in the garden it starts an investigation. It also marks the start of one twist/reveal after another.

The narrative is told through alternate points-of-view in the present and the past, basically Tara and Josie with an unknown voice occasionally. One drama after another follows and quickly multiplies.

The good news is that Two Sisters will hold your attention like any good, over-the-top soap opera does. These people have a constant barrage of one thing after another and plenty of hints along the way that they are all holding secrets. The bad news is that not all of the dramas/secrets are necessarily worth the suspense and some may induce eye-rolling.

This was a good read with an exciting ending, didn’t see that coming. A great psychological thriller about families.

I really enjoyed this intense read, I enjoyed reading each sisters views on the story with alternating chapters. The sisters were likable characters that were easy to follow, plus it’s an easy read.

A thrilling 4 star.

This fast paced book had lots of twists and turns and the story was told from a few different perspectives, which I like because I think it adds more depth to the story. I had thought several times that I had this one figured out only to find out later that I didn't. I love a story that keeps me guessing! This was my first book from Lorna Henderson but I'd definitely like to see more from her!

What a brilliant book. It tells the story of two sisters, Josie who has just left her husband and has moved back in with her gran for a bit and Tara who is now living in their old childhood home with her husband and 2 children. When workman discover a body in an extension they were working on at the house the police soon become involved. Some members of their amily are hiding something which will soon come out.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I will look out for more books from this author.

What he tells us will shatter everything I thought I knew about my family.

This is a twisted, fast-paced read that told from multiple perspectives. The characters are well-developed. The suspense grew throughout the book. There are a few subplots, making this multilayered story hard to put down. I liked the author's writing style. It's told in the past and present day. The ending was shocking.

Two sisters are trying to navigate their lives as everything around them seems to be falling apart. Tara is renovating her home when the workers find some bones in the backyard. I absolutely loved this thriller it gripped from start to finish I really enjoyed how it was told from different perspectives it definitely helped build up the suspense. It was a fast paced thriller with many twists and turns I will definitely be recommending this to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of this great book.

4* Oh how we practise to deceive... Well-intentioned lies, loss, heartache and love.

Joffe Books are turning out to be a rather nice surprise, given that they're set in the UK, lack faux American gloss, are believable and feel real without huge dramatisation. This is no different to their MO, and it's worth a read, though it could do with editing to get rid of filler.

The tale is told in Tara and Jodie's present and past, with the tale of another female - avoiding spoilers here - told in the past, with good hints and enough to keep me engrossed in both timelines. Did I 'see' the sisters? Not really, as unfortunately the book has a lot of filler, namely in Dimitri and Jaz/Jason who don't really seem to have much of a role to play, and we just got the sisters' thoughts. The tale could have survived without either guy, tbh. There was also filler in Tara not being married to Mark, but having a family with him, with their young twins asking why their parents aren't married, and the - here - faux drama of the mammogram (it didn't seem like a PSA on the part of the author).

There's a shock from someone who seemed innocuous and kindhearted, but who has a lot to answer for, though she had a timely departure. It was sad that her victim couldn't come clean amd missed out on so much, but hey, she wasn't squeaky clean herself, so maybe justice works in mysterious ways. Still, it's worth a read, despite the not-really-believable cop, Brian, who, tbh, needed a good dressing down, if bot a sacking for his unprofessionalism.

Tara is having a new studio/office built in her garden and just as she’s offering tea to the workmen they stop what they’re doing and tell her she’s got bones buried at the bottom of the garden. Sisters Tara and Josie’s father used to live in the house but they don’t like to ask him about the bones as he’s recovering from heart problems and their Gran doesn’t look well either.

‘Two Sisters’ is a family drama that has an interesting plot and well-described characters but I got confused with the sisters Tara and Josie and those in the italicised chapters. Although full of twists and turns, I didn’t feel the excitement and enthusiasm I usually experience when reading thrillers and thought they spent far too much time cleaning, tidying and drinking tea. It’s a good sound thriller that’s easy to read and became more involving the further I got into the story but although I finished it I’m not sure I’d want to pick it up to read again.

I got so into this book. I love reading about complex family dynamics. I feel like it can be so relatable, and also so intriguing. Every character was important in some way, and it was fast paced enough that it would constantly leave me wanting more.

Oh wow!!! I did not see that plot twist coming!!! This was a first for me by this author but will not be my last! Such a good story!

The book is written in multiple perspectives which I feel adds to the depth of the story. It is fast paced but I don’t feel like there were pieces missing due to the speed. It had some shocking twists which I always enjoy in a psychological thriller. When a book is able to keep me guessing and still unable to guess the ending it is a good one!

I am happy to have stumble upon Lorna Henderson on NetGalley. I will be looking forward to their next publishing. Thank you, Lorna, NetGalley and Joffe Books for letting me read this book early. Expected publication is August 15, 2024.
