This adorably well illustrated book provides many awesome facts about different kinds of mud as well as different real life science experiments and creations you can do with the things right outside your door. This is a great book for encouraging young people to learn about their world and have fun while doing it.

This is such a wonderful book! It is not "just" things to do with a mudpie but the science behind the mud, soil and where it all comes from. The children will technically be conducting their own science experiments, making art, gardening, etc and learning all WHILE playing with mud! The illustrations in the book will appeal to many. Personally, I can see myself using this in our homeschool! I am sure that playing in the mud is far more fun than workbooks and worksheets.

The book starts out by teaching where the mud/soil comes from. Then how to make a mud pie, and test their soil. From there they will explore and find their "animal friends". make a wormery, ant-arium, make prints with it, plant seeds, etc. This book is so packed full of ideas... I WILL need it in print!

Fantastically inclusive and informative, this colorful little book would make an excellent addition to a library non-fiction picture book collection, or for programming at farmers markets, community gardens, and nature preschools!

While some of the activities are better suited to areas with significant outdoor access (such as the mud kitchen or river), many of the projects are achievable indoors or can be adapted to smaller spaces (for instance, the composting project includes guidance on both outdoor and indoor options) making this book suitable for libraries in a variety of community settings. In addition, the pairing of each hands on project with an educational element or informational aside opens doors for programming and classroom use throughout the year. A perfect blend of messy and magical, this volume will be enjoyed both inside the library and outside in the mud. Thank you to NetGalley for access to this arc!

This is the most through book on mud pies I have ever read. I got for nostalgic reasons. My Granddaughter who is now a teen loved mud and mud pies as a little one. I could not keep her out of the mud. This book goes into detail on what kind of mud to make and soil to use. Info on butterfly gardens and how to compost in a bottle. Also mud soup and mud bricks. I really enjoyed this book and will definately add it to my library for my Great Grandchildren.

This book is wonderful- it has adorable illustrations, imaginative ideas and lots of kid friendly information. I love how it combines the activity ideas with facts that correspond to that activity. This is a book that will provide entertainment for adults and children alike and is one that I'm adding to our "must buy" list!

I would have loved this book as a child! I enjoyed playing in the dirt and making mud pies. This book encourages outdoor play and gives lots of ideas of what to do with mud pies. Planting seeds to create a butterfly garden, making a compost bottle, and making prints are just a few things to do with mud pies. The illustrations are beautiful, and I know a lot of children will love this book.

I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for a review.
