This is a great addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series! I loved reading about Wilma Rudolph and felt like this was a great mini-biography of her life. The illustrations were very cute as always & the text was simple and engaging! I would definitely recommend this book and this series to all of those with youngsters!
Thanks to NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and Quarto Publishing for the chance to read and review!
I have loved every book in this series, so I was excited to see that there is now one about Wilma Rudolph. Wilma Rudolph is one of my favorite heroes because she overcame what looked like impossible odds to do what she wanted. It's also a really great story because her family is such a big part of it. I read stories about Wilma Rudolph whenever I come across them, because I find her so inspiring. This little book is a perfect introduction because the language is simple and the pictures are adorable.
hanks to NetGalley for letting ,me read this.
I'm a huge fan of the Little People, Big Dreams series as it never fails to tell the hardship and success of famous people in a way that is enjoyable for children and adults alike.
Not being from the US, I was not familiar with Wilma Rudolph, and thanks to this book, I learned so much about her inspiring life.
The illustrations are beautiful as always.
I really enjoy these Little People, Big Dreams books. I have read many! Like the others, this has beautiful illustrations and easy to read text. These are ideal if you want to know about someone famous. I love the timeline at the end too. This one, is all about Wilma Rudolph, I didn't know her story so it was nice to find out in this quick and easy to follow book. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I got GOOSEBUMPS oh my God. Never really knew her before but thanks to this book now I know her story. Wilma was truly a miracle. Good thing she was raised by a caring family, so despite the racism that happened outside her house, she managed to rise and shine.
This book was very insightful. The pictures are a great visual to help tell the story. I enjoyed the end with the timeline of events and real-life pictures too.
This is the first time i've read one of these books where I didn't know much about the person before hand. So I was learning! I think this is such a great series for kids to be honest because it's clear and concise, but still fun. It's very sweet and in this one I liked the message of equality throughout.
This is a great read, the illustrations are beautiful and overall an inspiring story that kids would enjoy
This book was so inspirational! I will admit that I didn’t really know a lot about Wilma Rudolph before reading this book, but LPBD packs in so much information that I can honestly say I learned a lot. This is a great story, especially for children who have experienced a complex medical lifestyle.
This is a fun children's book discussing the story of the Olympian, Wilma Rudolph. The illustrations are very cute and eye-catching. I think children will absolutely enjoy this book and learn quite a bit about her life. I especially loved the focus on her illness and how she was able to triumph over that initial setback.
This is part of a series of biographies, Little People, Big Dreams written by this author that are well researched and engaging. I am consistently impressed with this series, I actively look forward to new additions and so far I haven't been disappointed by any of the ones I have read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This instalment of the incomparable ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series tells the story of Wilma Rudolph, an American sprinter who won Olympic gold medals and earned victories against childhood Polio and racism along the way!
Honestly, not being from the US, I didn’t really know much about Ms. Rudolph and so I learnt some interesting facts despite this being a children’s book! She’s an inspirational woman and it’s great that this book will share her story with young purple to perhaps spark some dreams. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital copy for review consideration,
I absolutely love the Little People, Big Dreams series and this book was no exception. Before reading this, I hadn't heard of Wilma Rudolph so this served as a great summary of her life and career. I loved the illustrations and how they enhanced the story being told. As always with this series, I liked that the author focused not only on Rudolph's career achievements but also on her determination and bravery whilst recovering from polio as well as the work she did for equality. I like that at the end of the book there is a biography for older readers as well as photographs and book recommendations for if you want to find out more about Wilma Rudolph.
Overall, I love this series and i enjoyed the chance to get to know more about someone I hadn't heard of before!
This is a story about Olympic Runner, Wilma Rudolph. This book tells the story of Wilma's life, from her having polio to playing basketball and then being an Olympic Runner. What a great accomplishment! The artwork is gorgeous, and children will enjoy learning about Wilma.
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for a review.
Perhaps my favorite in this series! An inspirational brief biography about Olympic gold medalist runner, Wilma Rudolph. Rudolph overcame so many physical challenges as a child with the devotion of her family. I hadn't known much before reading this, but I loved learning about her life and family. Perfect for children of all ages.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
A beautiful and inspiring story! My kids loved looking at the beautiful illustrations while I read the story to them. This is a wonderful story to teach your kids about overcoming adversity and to never give up!
