The Silent Wife by Andy Maslen and narrated by Ell Potter is the third book in the Detective Kat Ballantyne series but stands strong as a standalone. This is the first book I have listened to from Andy Masle and I will be getting the rest in the series as it was absolutely brilliant! Pacing on point, relatable characters with strong dynamics and groth and a well-rounded plot. A belter of a novel

Kat Ballantyne has a problem. She is under investgation for a hefty sum of money mysteriously appearing in her bank account. Thing is, she doesn't know how it got there and all she wants to do is get on with her job investigaing the death of a gang wife. Was it her dodgy father laundering cash and using her account? Is the murder as easily solved as it seems? And why on earth is her boss trying to get her fired? he can't resent her that much can he?

A weel-written, intriguing police procedural with a cracking plot and likable fmc. Highly recommended

Thank you to NetGalley, Brilliance Publishing | Brilliance Audio, the author Andy Maslen and narrator Ell Potter for this ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

I've always seen rave reviews for the author and had never read a book by him even though I love police procedurals. So glad I finally took the time. Even though this is book 3 in the series, and my first, I had no trouble following the storyline.

I was drawn in from the start and gripped until the end. DS Ballantyne is a strong character that faces an uphill battle trying to both solve a case and clear her name. It's fast paced, suspenseful and twisty.

Ell Potter is a new to me narrator, but she was perfect for this one. She brought the tension to the story and kept me wanting more.

I am definitely going to have to read more by this author.

Though this was my first book of the series it was still a darn good read. Easy to read as a standalone, the story had great pacing and intrigue. I will say that the guilty party seemed obvious to me with today's culture, but perhaps not so to everyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my advance copy of this audiobook.

Kat has corruption charges looming over her head. Her boss has given her a week to explain how the money got there. On top of that a friend calls her admitting to murder. Kat who is supposed to only work on cold cases investigates against her bosses’ orders. Will she get to the bottom of what happened? Is her friend really guilty?

This is my first book by this author and I must say that I will be reading more. I was completed blindsided when the killer was uncovered. I was hooked by the storyline from the very beginning.

Thank you to Andy Maslen, Brillance Audio and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My most recent audiobook was The Silent Wife by Andy Maslen! Honestly I was kind of hoping for something like The Silent Patient, but even though it wasn’t I did find it to be an interesting read! This is the third book in the Detective Kat Ballantyne series, and unfortunately I jumped in without having read the first two, which I feel might have helped in understanding some of the characters better.

Kat is under investigation dealing with a possible corruption charge after a large sum of money mysteriously shows up in her bank account! She's now been instructed to only work cold cases until she’s cleared, but it’s all but impossible when a new case comes up involving a friend who confesses to a murder Kat is pretty sure she didn't commit!
The story is packed with suspense, complex characters, and unexpected twists. While I will admit to occasionally feeling a little lost and confused (I’m sure reading the first two would have helped!) I did find this to be a gripping read that kept me hooked.

If you love thrillers with strong female leads, give this one a try!

Huge thank you to Netgalley and Brilliance Publishing for the audiobook copy of this book!

I had no idea this was #3 in a series! It left wanting to get my hands on #4! And I can easily go back to read the previous 2, or not.
I enjoyed the narration.
Thanks to Netgalley, Andy Maslen, and publisher for the opportunity to preview ADC
