4.5! A super cozy and heartwarming romance that everyone should read! The story is told in two different ways: in letters that Charlee and Oliver exchanged for years and in the present where they meet again after 5 years after the last letter. I LOVED the way the author found to tell their story, you really can *feel* the development of their relationship in each letter.

This book tells in the most beautiful way what it's like to have a second chance in love and it goes far beyond just a trope, I’d really recommend it to all lovers of a good romance.

Oliver & Charlee warmed my heart 🫶🏽 Unbearably Yours is a wholesome (yet slightly spicier🌶️), autumnal, slow burn second-chance romance that I enjoyed reading and has definitely got me ready for the cosy season.

Oliver was such a sweet, caring male main character and I loved how thoughtful he was towards Charlee, both in the letters and when they were together in person. Charlee I feel is a bit like marmite, you’re either going to love her or hate her. I didn’t gel with her character at the beginning but as the book went on I did warm to her more!

Overall, I did enjoy “Unbearably Yours” and I loved the setting of the forest, the camping and the small town vibes! I do wish the story had went slightly deeper with our backstory of Charlee and Oliver & I would have loved to have a bit more time with them out in nature together and getting to rekindle that friendship. Fans of “Love and Other Words” by Christina Lauren will love this second-chance romance & it is just perfect for this next season 🍂🫶🏽

If you're thinking of reading this book: DO IT.
Unbearably Yours was a very enjoyable read! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy read or one set in the forest.
If you love second chance romance, or enemies to lovers, or Canada generally, this is definitely the book for you.
It reminded me of an Emily Henry book - beautifully written romance where the main characters have sizzling tension, easy to skip spicy scenes, hilarious banter, and character development.

There were a few cringey or plot hole-y parts that I chose to ignore, as the book really is so well written. It hooked me in!
I loved the setting, and I didn't realise that it was the third book as it was a great standalone. There was one moment with a lot of characters where I went "ok this is a lot of characters to keep track of" where I realised it may not be a standalone.

WE ALSO LOVE BISEXUAL REPRESENTATION!

The relationship between the two main characters was really sweet to read, and she wrote the tension and buildup SO well.


Overall thoughts with spoilers:
Ok what was up with the random tent scene where he turns her down??? Not really well explained why he says no there.
It was a tiny bit creepy that he wrote sooooo many letters to her over the years - maybe like ten would have been better and less creepy? I may have misread that but I chose to pretend it was only a few letters. That’s my personal opinion though!! So maybe it’s not creepy to other people.
Our intro to the FMC was hilarious! There were sort of throwaway lines that she only sleeps with people as she doesn’t trust anyone anymore & this would have been good to be explored more.
And also the buildup was SO GOOD.

Oliver and Charlee were pen pals in college for their respective Journalist programs and became great friends, building into a romantic love through the letters they sent. After setting up a date to meet in person during a college summer however, that friendship is broken and people are left feeling betrayed. Now, a handful of years later, Charlee is last minute sent to BC, Canada to be the face for a new docuseries show that will keep her company's location open amid budget cuts. Oliver has been asked to help guide the docuseries through his neck of the woods and with it, a hefty bonus that he wants to put towards buying back his old family's restaurant.

I've really enjoyed all of Elodie's previous books and this was no exception. Oliver and Charlee are both characters that feel deeply and they've both had quite the shock meeting each other in person for the first time with such high stakes. Elodie writes some great character-driven stories. Lots of emotions and feelings packed in this one. Charlee has been running for a lot of her adult life and seeing Oliver again has her asking some hard questions about herself, what exactly has she been running from? Oliver has always felt things stronger than others and seeing Charlee for the first time makes a lot of once-buried emotions come back up. Conversations need to be had though before he can even realistically think about asking for more with Charlee again.

Elodie's characters, plot, and atmosphere are great in Unbearably Yours! I've truly loved traveling across different settings in this series. A quick trope highlight here; we have a bit of friends-to-lovers, second chance, epistolary, and only one-bed.

“I can handle you being mad at me for the rest of our lives, and I can handle not talking to you for years, but what I won’t be able to do is survive if something happened to you.”

The best kind of romance is one that leaves little breadcrumbs throughout that keep you wondering why it didn’t work out the first time around.

Oliver and Charlee had a deep connection in the most unique want. But something went wrong. Now they are unexpectedly reunited.

This book had everything I love. The characters had conflict, but were still kind to one another. We got to see their relationship develop over time with flashbacks to when they first started dating.

The writing was also beautiful. Elodie’s descriptions gave just enough detail to set the scene.

“The thought fills me with something I’ve felt few times before when we used to talk. Something gentle and sweet, like snow falling softly outside and hot cocoa with marshmallows sprinkled on top.”

I’m a sucker for pen pal romances, and this one totally delivered. Charlee and Oliver were such a fun pair to root for, and the mix of second chance, small town, and forced proximity tropes made it even better.

The chemistry was off the charts!!

Fans of small town vibes, forced proximity, and a good ol’ pen pal twist are going to eat this up.

I was really intrigued by the premise of the book- I love letters, and pen pals romance did seem like a good plot. And I really wanted to like the book more than I did.

I liked how the book alternates between letters then present when it started and I guess that's where I was rooting for it to be great

Though the book tries hard, it confuses rather than establishes the timeline and story of the MCs romance, the letters did not read heartfelt and it just escalated too quickly.

Even with having some good tropes, with a cinnamon roll hero, forced proximity and slow burn, the continuous miscommunication on the characters part dragged down the story. I would have definitely loved it more if they would have opened up and talked about everything sooner so that the rest of the book could have shown growth in their relationship.

I am no/low spice reader, so I skipped the bedroom scene, so no comments there.

I was excited to see a book set in my home province of BC! It was fun to read about Charlee and Oliver’s second chance romance and there were definitely moments that had me giggling and kicking my feet.

However, I didn’t quite enjoy the portions of the book involving their letters. It felt rushed and unrealistic for them to fall in love so quickly through their letters alone. Some of the sexual segments in their letters were also really cringey to read. There were also times when Charlee was acting really immature for her age and many of the characters just felt one dimensional.

Overall, I did still enjoy the book but would probably give it 3.5 stars.

Oooooo baby! Charlee and Oliver have officially stolen my heart! OH MY GOD! These two had me giddy all through out their whole store. From start to finish. Was I expecting to fall HARD for these two? No. Was I expecting to continue craving their romance and friendship after finishing this novel? No. But guess what? I DO! Can I have more of their story pretty please?!?!

I am captivated by Charlee and her persona. She is truly an icon on her own. Life has not been the kindest to her, but she is a strong minded individual that knows how to process things in the most beautiful of ways. Her complex individuality is what makes me love her so much more. I have not fallen in love with a protagonist in a romance novel in so long, and Charlee's personality was truly a breath of fresh air.

And then enters Oliver; a true definition of a man's man in a nerdy combination type of way that made my feet kick back and forth. Learning about his past is what truly makes him worth a read. It's the way that these two endure their pasts with strong minds that captivated me the most.

This was my first book of Elodie’s and now I HAVE to read the series I didn’t know existed. Her characters are so beautiful and raw. The tropes were amazing. I’m a sucker for second chance romance! I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

This was cute! I loved the letters and the whole pen pals vibe. I also like the whole forced proximity and only one bed. The banter was super cute. It balanced out the emotional moments from the past. I really wanted to enjoy it a lot more, but the miscommunication and lack of communication was just a bit too much. Still entertaining and emotional, but could be better.

Charlee and Oliver were good together and their chemistry is instantly rekindled. The fact that Charlee just still hates Oliver without even knowing what happened years ago was meh. What I really enjoyed were the little intimate moments that made them remember their history. The spice was medium spicy and perfect for the story. Their communication clearly needed work and frustrated me to no end. It really made me not really like Charlee until like the last 25%

Overall I would recommend this with the caution of needing more from it. Solid and cute but not amazing.

Review: This is such a nice book! It's clear that Charlee and Oliver love and care for each other. The pacing is good, the writing is descriptive, and the characters are unique and realistic. While it touches on a love story, it also dives into the loss of loved ones, misogyny and work safety.

The story is narrated through alternating perspectives, with the odd chapters being told through Charlee's POV and the even chapters through Oliver's POV. Before each chapter, there are letters that they exchanged with each other five years before the events of the book. This format fits this story perfectly, showing readers what their relationship was like before what happened on 21 June 2017. In the meantime, readers can follow the present timeline as Charlee and Oliver navigate their lingering feelings for each other despite what happened five years ago.

Charlee and Oliver are so sweet. The emotions they both displayed were portrayed so well because they were descriptive and realistic. I understood every feeling they had, particularly regarding each other. The letters they exchanged five years ago were simply the sweetest, with how they bonded over a common interest: writing. The way they slowly warm up to each other again when they reunite is nice and realistic. I love how they always have each other's backs and are logical in their thinking (i.e. they're not unreasonable people).

Trevor is such a well-written asshole. I hated him so much, and that's a good thing. I truly applaud the author for writing such a realistic unlikeable character. He's basically the type of person you wish you would never have to work with. He's self-centred, misogynistic, doesn't care about the consequences and has a highly inflated ego. Throughout the book, I really just needed him to get lost. Good job on writing this character. For real.

Overall, this is a nice second-chance romance with a small-town setting. I recommend this book to those who are interested in the concept of pen pals meeting in real life and rekindling their romance after losing contact five years ago.

This was my first book of Elodie's and it will not be my last as she is a very skilled storyteller. She really gets you to connect with both main character's thoughts and feelings.

I know one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the artwork of "Unbearably Yours" immediately appealed to me. Charlee and Oliver's story is summed up so well in the cover art. It's the satisfied feeling you get once you've been on a journey and you've pushed through to reach the final destination. You get to relax and rest knowing that it was all worth it.

The dual timeline of present day Charlee and Oliver, contrasted against the letters they exchanged, added a lot of depth to the story as well as driving the narrative forward in a compelling way. The representation of hypersensitivity was also something I haven't come across in a novel like this and it was dealt with such care. I also loved the inclusion of a playlist of songs for each chapter. I will definitely be reading the first two books in this series.

I love books that captures Canada’s natural beauty and Pine Falls encapsulates the charm of a small town and the forests and green spaces of the west coast. If you're looking for your next fall read give this a read!

I didn't know this was the third book in the same universe, so I wasn't familiar with previous characters, but I still enjoyed this book. (And I might have to go back and read the others!) UNBEARABLY YOURS has gorgeous autumnal, woodsy vibes and a touching second-chance, forced proximity love story.

"A woman I've thought about every day since my last year in college."

This was a very fast paced, quick romantic read for me! I definitely found it easy to become absorbed into the cosy, cute environment of the story and I was definitely intrigued by the premise and the characters. The characters were easy to follow along with, I found Oliver to be a cutie. I understand this 'miscommunication' was a part in the story and affected how this made the characters react but it was nice to still see the moments of chemistry between the two.

I enjoyed that, as a reader, we got the moments in the present between the two main characters and the flashbacks through their letters to each other. I also enjoyed that these past moments were moving along to match what was happening in the present - I enjoyed that the flashbacks and the letters added something to the story overall and didn't feel out of place.

What I would have loved to have seen more of is the building romance between them. I understand that they have the history together, but I just wanted a bit more chemistry and scenes of them together in the present rekindling this flame and finding each other again.

This book was so cute. 2nd chance in a Small Town is not one you see often and this was executed so well.
The slow burn added to the Story line that sucked you right in from the beginning.
The dual timeline with the letters added that extra special touch to the book.
The cover was gorgeous, the characters were so sweet (can we say sweetest of the sweet Cinnamon Roll MMC?) and the setting was just beautiful.

Will be recommending the book for sure.

I absolutely loved this second chance romance between Charlee and Oliver. I really liked both of them as main characters and enjoyed reading from both of their povs. I also really loved the letter element in this story and the way that kind of gave a dual timeline to their story.
This story had emotion, adventure and so much love between two people who needed to find their way back to each other after unforeseen circumstances forced them apart.
Side note but that gorgeous cover would have convinced me to read this book even if I hadn’t read and loved the other two in this series.
