Firstly thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy of this book on exchange for my honest opinion.
This book was told from the POV’s of the 3 women whose lives we got to delve into . Each had their own stories of happiness secrets shocks and twists all coming together in a common goal to expose fraud at the local school.
Really enjoyed the book this is my second book by this author and I read it in less than 24 hours .
This was the first book that I’ve read by Caitlin Weaver and I really enjoyed it. The story of three women who weren’t friends that joined together to form a fundraising committee for their ritzy private school in Atlanta, it wasn’t what I expected. Told from all three points of view, Anna’s story was the most harrowing, but Maggie’s had a twist that I definitely didn’t see coming. Some parts seemed a bit far fetched, but all in all I thought it was a great story. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but I can overlook that.
Things We Never Say is a beautifully written exploration of the complexities of human emotions and relationships. Caitlin Weaver’s storytelling is both introspective and engaging, drawing readers into a world where the weight of unspoken words and buried secrets can shape lives in profound ways.
The novel unfolds at a deliberate pace, building tension gradually as it delves into themes of guilt, loss, and redemption. Weaver’s writing is richly atmospheric, with a keen eye for detail that brings the setting and its emotional landscape to life. The emotional depth of the narrative is where this book truly shines, offering readers a poignant look at the ways in which people cope with pain and regret.
What makes this book particularly compelling is its nuanced portrayal of its characters, who are deeply flawed yet relatable. The complexities of their inner lives are revealed in subtle, powerful ways, making their journeys all the more impactful. The story’s slow-burn nature allows for a thoughtful exploration of these themes, leading to a conclusion that is both satisfying and thought-provoking.
While the pacing may be slower than some readers prefer, those who appreciate a character-driven narrative will find Things We Never Say to be a rewarding and moving experience. Caitlin Weaver has crafted a novel that lingers in the mind long after the final page is turned, making it a must-read for those who enjoy introspective, emotionally resonant fiction.
Thank you Storm Publishing and Net Galley for the ARC!
Anna, Maggie an Rhea are 3 mothers of children who attend an upper class private school Civitas - where your status quo absolutely determines how you will be treated. With mandatory parent involvement hours in the school, the 3 mothers find themselves thrown together for the gala board and will be forced to work together, despite their total different ways of life and opinions towards Civitas.
Anna, being the wife of the Dean, is viewed as stuck up and high and mighty due to being very quiet and her obvious position within the school. However, Anna's lack of words hides a very sinister reasoning and things aren't as they seem behind closed doors with her. You really feel drawn to this character and want to scream for her by the end. Maggie, the renowned sex therapist, also has her own personal issues at home and really this one was the biggest twist for me. You learn to love her curiosity and wittiness. Rhea is a boy mom and a powerhouse one at that. She is an extremely devoted wife and mother who also hides a very big secret for fear of losing all she's built. I personally enjoyed her growth, and the story line of her family as well. Through this book I fell in love with these 3 women and their blossoming friendship, and ultimately they saved each other in various ways.
Though there weren't many twists and turns during this book, I truly enjoyed it! I read this in one day, and was intrigued from the get go.
Told from multiple POVs, this is a domestic thriller about three women who become friends while working on a committee for their children’s private school. Each of them is dealing with problems in their personal lives and it shows that you never really know what is going on behind closed doors.
I always enjoy mysteries that revolve around academia and domestic relationships so this was right up my alley. I loved Caitlin Weaver’s last book, and this one was just as good.
I did notice quite a few typos/grammatical errors, but I’m sure that will be resolved by the time the book is published.
This was more of a domestic drama and it was a little bit too slow for me. I did want more of a thriller vibe and less secrets. I did think it was a little lengthy and thought it could've been less. The pacing also seemed off in the second part of the book, It was a good and fun read nonetheless.
Three mothers with different backgrounds, but who are connected through the school their children attend.
Altough they don't like each other very much in the beginning, they are forced to work together on the celebration of the centennial of said school. They get to know each other and become friends, working together to achieve a common goal: uncovering a disgusting scheme.
When two of them confess what they are dealing with in their personal life, nobody could have guessed what went on behind closed doors of their friend.
I loved the setting of this story and found it original. I liked the way the characters dealt with their problems and the evolution they went through.
The author switches between the POV of the three mothers which is a formula I always enjoy.
I was soon completely engrossed in this engaging book. 5 stars
Thank you
Three mothers, each with their dark secrets, unite for moral support. When Anna, who was quiet and preferred to keep things to herself, unites with Maggie and Rhee, things begin to change for her. She suddenly finds the social setting that she so desperately needs. She is not the only one with a dark past she is trying to deal with.
Maggie is a relationship therapist struggling with her marriage when she suddenly faces an embarrassing problem. Rhea has been hiding her dark past with her husband, a past that can ruin her marriage. Anna’s situation is perhaps the most serious. Her home life is a disaster. She is living with an abusive husband, the well-respected headmaster of the town’s school, and she must suffer the abuse to protect his reputation.
Anna has a possible way out when the woman discovers a schoolwide scandal involving her husband. This puts her in a difficult position as the women move to break the scandal wide open to the public. Can she be a part of something that will destroy their lives and possibly their children?
Sometimes a story just comes together and works well. It blends the characters’ lives in a way that you feel connected and invested in them, and care when things go wrong. In Caitlin Weaver’s most recent book “Things we never say” Maggie, Rhea and Anna grow quickly from strangers to friends, overcoming their initial dislike and uncertainty of each other when they need to work on a shared project. I felt this same quickness in how I related to them. Although covering a relatively short period of time, the story is rich in detail and complexity and the secrets and lies that have been told, and start to unfold, shadow everything. The ending felt a little rushed, however this might be because I wasn’t ready to let go of the story. There is a lot of unexpected humour in the book which helps balance the tension and also just the pure yuck that is Jerry (Anna’s husband). Covering multiple issues with finesse, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Caitlin (having already enjoyed her book “Such a good family”). Thanks to NetGalley and Storm publishing for letting me read an advance copy in exchange for my review. This is due for release in Australia on 27th September 2024.
This was a 6 star read! I was in absolute shock with this read! Fast, turns, shocking twist! I never saw the twist and could not put this down. Great read!
This book seemed like the perfect fit, however it fell a little flat of expectations. I wanted more of a thriller vibe, and less of a circle of secrets.
The writing was great and I enjoyed how it switched to each perspective of the women, however the storyline felt too out of taste for me.
Thanks for a chance to read this book!!
Things We Never Say is the next great read you should read! Pick this book up!! It won’t disappoint!
I think i just found one of my new favorite authors??
This 4 star read was jam packed with thrills and suspense. I devoured this book in 2.5 hours. This book should definitely be on your TBR if you love thrillers.
Wow is the first thing I have to say. I inhaled this book in less than 24 hours.
Anna, Maggie, and Rhea were instantly captivating. The three main leads were independent, different, and structurally- very easy to distinguish.
There were honestly so many twists and turns, I felt my heart pounding as I was switching between each woman's story...and then......
MORE SHOCKING TWISTS AND TURNS.
I truly cannot recommend this book enough- it was gripping, easy to fly through, and left me complete when I finished.
three women get together to host a gala for a private school. they find out a secret that involves one of their husbands. good story
This is my second book by Caitlin Weaver. I really enjoy her novels. I feel she writes about her topics in such a way that draws the reader into the story and makes them not want to stop reading... or at least for me. This was a story about mothers, friendship and secrets. There was a lot of drama with a bit of thrill in this book. I give it 4.5 stars!
Thank you to Storm Publishing and Netgalley for this arc.
Three women brought together to produce a gala event for a private school soon unearth a secret that could bring down one of their husbands. Each carries her own family secret as they soon find themselves becoming firm friends.
This book was a page Turner with very likeable characters in Maggie, Rhea and Anna. I loved how their friendship blossomed and the way they looked out for each other. This isn't a sinister thriller, nonetheless the story is captivating and definitely keeps you reading to uncover their secrets
The author writes a compelling plot and deals with true to life issues.
Trigger warning: domestic violence runs through the book and some scenes may be upsetting, yet are imperative for Anna's story and her strength.
Highly recommend this book
I'm in love with this author now. This book was so compelling. My heart was racing, deeply invested, couldn't put it down, obsessed to say the least. Immediately, went looking for other work of hers.
I kept screaming at my phone for the characters in this book.
Must read!

This is the 2nd Caitlin Weaver book I’ve read & I enjoyed this one, as I did the first. It’s marketed as a mystery/ thriller & I wouldn’t really agree but it was a suspenseful read & well written. I’ll be looking for her next book!😁
