Fun book focusing on younger readers but some of the misconception facts were not interested enough.
I first read the book before showing to my 8 years old child who browsed through it but said it was not interesting enough.
Positive points on pictures though! We love the cover and the art inside.
Thank you to NetGalley for this e-copy of Presidents- Oh No They Didn’t in exchange for an honest review. This book is perfect for independent readers grades 2-6 who love history and historical trivia. This book debunks a lot of the popular misconception surrounding our presidents, vice- presidents and First Ladies such as Washington never chopped down a cherry tree. This lore has been spread throughout our country over the ages but was never substantiated. This book has great Illustrations and tons of factual knowledge connected to each president.
Eric Huang takes popularized notions about the presidents of the United States and “debunks” some of these myths, teasing out fact from fiction in a concise and easy to understand manner. These facts also take into account the lives of Vice Presidents, Running Mates, Wives, and Pets of those who have historically run our country. This book is beautifully illustrated and entertaining.
This was our first venture into oh no they didn’t series and we were not disappointed. Packed with mythbusting information around former presidents.
This was fun, engaging and we learnt a lot. The illustrations throughout our were fantastic and added another dimension to the book.
We will now be eagerly looking for other books in this series.
I very much enjoyed learning facts not only about the Presidents, but their vice presidents and First Ladies as well. Some of them I had already known, but for a child who might be coming across these facts for the first time, this book is a fun read.
Sam Caldwell did a great job in choosing bold colors and in the placement of their illustrations. I only wish that the drawings of the people weren't so generic. Many of the illustrations look nothing like the actual people depicted. Other than that, I think the amount of text on the page and the speech bubbles were well placed.
I imagine this book would appear in an upper elementary / middle school classroom library. It is a great addition to any library and even a fun read aloud!
We loved the illustrations and fun facts in this book. My daughter is a little young for this book but with the election coming up and Olympics on we’ve been talking about bigger topics with her. She loved the pets of the White House being added too! Cute book I would buy as a gift or buy when my daughter is a little older.
This is a fun concept. The colors and illustrations are appealing. The likenesses are good but a bit cheeky, which kids will enjoy. The "Oh no he didnt/wasn't" is a bit overused for how short the book is. I also think less text and space could be taken up by the myth, so as to avoid cementing them in kids' minds, and more time could've been spent on the facts.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This will be a fun addition to our collection.
Although this book is targeted towards children, I quite enjoyed this at 32. There was a lot of facts I didn't know about the American presidents, vice presidents, and first ladies. Anyone looking for a quick summary of the individuals who have led America will find this book a valuable resource. The timeline at the end of the book is very helpful in keeping the presidents in order as well as each first lady and veep.
What a great book! I love how cool factoids about presidents, vice presidents, first ladies, and pets were interspersed with fun eye-catching graphics throughout. I learned quite a bit and definitely would buy this book!
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book.
Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for an advanced reader copy of this book. All views and opinions are my own.
This was a cute, informative book with a fun fact about every POTUS. The First Ladies and VPs even got in on the fun and were recognized with some fun facts. Nothing particularly inspiring and many of the facts are things I already knew, but the target audience is kids so likely they would be experiencing that information for the first time.
I'd rate this a G.

This engaging book is chock full of fascinating facts and interesting information about U.S. Presidents, First Ladies and even pets that lived at the White House. Colorful, detailed and quirky illustrations enhance this entertaining read. Children and their families, as well as teachers and students will enjoy reading this book and discovering some lesser known facts about the Presidents and their families. A timeline of the Presidents and a map of where they came from are a fun bonus at the end of the book. A highly recommended read!
A terrific fact-filled book that dispels myths about US Presidents, VPs, and First Ladies. Fab artwork, trivia such as President's pets, a timeline, and more make this a must read for kids 7-9. Adults will learn a lot too.
Fantastic book and illustrations!
Want your children (or any adult) to develop an interest in the US Presidents? Then leave this out! There were new-to-me facts as an adult who's dived into the topic before and this was a delightful read. It took me back to my childhood, where I loved reading fun facts and trivia about the Presidents.
This is a fun trivia book about U.S. presidents that focuses on some lesser known facts. I loved the illustrations and some of the information that was included such as the list of presidential pets. Since this is a children's book all of the presidents are presented without critique, and it focuses on light-hearted trivia. (which is fine, just good to know!)
Thanks to Eric Huang, NetGalley, and Quarto Publishing for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own.
I’m not from the US so I have not learned about all the presidents in school, only the more important ones. This book was great for general knowledge and the lists and extra details about pets and such things were a nice touch. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A factfilled and fun book about US presidents, VPs and the first Ladies. We will definitely add this to the library ahead of the US elections. What is especially great about the book are the illustrations, the glossary at the end and timeline.
Presidents by Eric Uuang is a great book for kids with lots of awesome facts about Presidents. As a 4th grade teacher I know my students will be interested in reading this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
Its such a beautiful book. The illustrations work so well and it really captures the essence of each description – again its such a pretty book, definitely a bookshelf book. I loved the Map of Presidents and the timeline, but my favourite page was White House Hobbies!
I came away with a much better understanding of the US Presidential history, I was fascinated by the vice president’s role and history. It was filled with good explanations and an entertaining narrative. I really enjoyed the witty speech bubbles/comments throughout – it reminded me of the CGP revision guides I used during my GCSE’s and A-levels.
Its very engaging and is something I would have enjoyed as a kid too. Filled with fun, random facts with myth busting (obvs) of the presidents – children will absolutely learn without even realising it! Not to mention the amount of fun facts that kids will want to remember and share with each other.
Also, as someone with dyslexia I often find these types of books difficult to follow but the text was perfectly chunked to keep me on the page and in a very accessible font that helped keep me grounded in the words. This will be great for young readers!!! 5/5 read
This is such a cute and fun way for children to learn the names of the presidents and facts about them and history surrounding their lives. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
Presidents is a fun book about facts and myths regarding the White House, the presidents, vice presidents, first ladies, and their pets. You learn about each president from George Washington to Joe Biden. The book ends with a glossary of words used in the book, which is helpful for kids who might be unfamiliar with those terms. The illustrations are fun, and the book is fantastic for kids interested in the US presidents along with adults who might have certain myths about the presidents and want to know if they are actually true.
