I couldn't put this book down once I started and devoured it in one sitting. What a fast paced read, you won't be disappointed if you pick this up
A good and fascinating read which had me grabbed all the way through. A great story and the characters were believable. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
This story line isn’t my usual read but I wanted to try something out of my normal. I really enjoyed this and I found it made me think of real life whilst reading this book.
Note: Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and author Becky Alexander for the advanced reader copy of this book. What follows is my unbiased review of the book.
On occasion I find a book that turns out to be much better than I was expecting it to be. The Other Mrs. Eden was one of those books. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, nor did I expect it to grip me enough that I devoured it in less than 24 hours.
Kim Conner is a young woman whose life has not been easy. At one time she was an aspiring actress, but life conspired against her and she had to leave drama to take care of her sickly mother. When her mother died, she was all alone in the world. Trying to make ends meet, she moved in with a friend and took what jobs she could find.
That all changes when she's sent by the agency to Jemima Eden. Jemima is a star of the small screen. In her 30s, roles are starting to dry up. Is it age? Or is it Jemima herself? Her fairy-tale marriage to George, a character actor, is fraught with rumors and innuendo. Kim shows up after another of her personal assistants was fired, and although Kim has no experience, Jemima takes her on as an employee.
Kim is somewhat the voyeur in the Edens' marriage. George seems charming and willing to take a backseat to his wife's fame. Jemima is erratic. She disappears for a couple of days to a "spa" and the press is all over it as an interlude with her former costar, Rory. Kim attempts to handle the press and the drama surrounding Jemima, while trying to get her own life together.
I really enjoyed The Other Mrs. Eden. In the beginning, I figured I knew where the story was going, but it ended up being quite different. Kim is learning what it is like to be a celebrity even as she's striving to become famous. Jemima comes off as an unbalanced diva who is possibly on the way down in her career. Kim envies all Jemima has, including the doting, protective husband.
The characters are well crafted. Events might seem to take place a little too fast, but they react very well. Kim is learning as she goes. She is very naive but is getting an education. My initial thought with the book was that Kim was being groomed to be the next "Jemima Eden" and replace her everywhere. Kim even dyes her hair the same color as Jemima's. Is she really an obsessed stalker intent on taking Jemima's place in her home and her life?
There was some good suspense throughout, although the truth is hinted at enough that I suspected it about midway through. I wanted to see how it ended, and I was surprised. In some ways it's too much the happily ever after, but there's room for another story after this one if the author chooses. I would definitely read it.
The Other Mrs Eden is a really good read. I really enjoyed the storyline in this book. The FMC wants to be a actress but that wasn't how life was working out for her. She started a new job through a temp agency and ended up working as a famous actress who was also married to a actor. This book hits on real life topics and shows how things aren't always as glamorous as they may seem.
The other Mrs Eden
This story goes between Kim and Jemima’s perspective. Jemima is a famous actress who is in the middle of filming and a cheating scandal. Her husband George is keeping an eye on Jemima through Kim and leaving messages to her rumored new love interest.
Kim is an aspiring actress and now Jemima’s personal assistant. She feels she is treated poorly and starts to resent Jemima and empathize with George, the husband, in their situation.
Kim tries to navigate their odd relationship with each other as dark secrets about their relationship are revealed.
Nothing magical or heart stopping, but it kept my attention and the characters were crazy - so for that 3.5 stars, rounded up. Similar to Housemaid, The Next Mrs Wimberly, etc.

I’m not sure why this book was advertised as a mystery/thriller on NetGalley. The mystery seemed to be when would the thrilling parts start. There was really no action until 85% in and even that was downplayed and not very page turning. The storyline itself was fine but I felt like the characters were very inconsistent. The title of this book and the blurb don’t fit the actual story at all.
I didn't really connect with the characters in this book. They were all unlikeable. It didnt really have that "wow" factor . I was looking for more of a thriller.
#TheOtherMrsEden #NetGalley I picked this book as my surname is Eden and so I was not sure what to expect!! It was well written with plenty of drama and action which I love. I really enjoyed that it was told from the perspectives of both Kim and Jemima and I found the ending particularly powerful and poignant. I will certainly look for more from this author.
This is an excellent read I was pulled into instantly and I couldn’t stop reading even if I had wanted to. If you want a dark, compelling thriller full of twists of twists and turns that will take your breath away then this perfect I was doubting everyone and what their motives truly were. I also loved the fact that this was told from two viewpoints and the characters were beautifully written and the ending was so powerful and I won’t forget it in a hurry,
The Other Mrs. Eden is told from two viewpoints. One is Kim, an aspiring actor. She gets a job as a personal assistant for Jemima Eden, the other viewpoint. Jemima is married to George, also an actor. As Kim spends more time in their home, she discovers that everything isn’t as it seems. Jemima and George aren’t the most likeable people. But it fits with the book. I’m not sure I understand the title or it’s relevance to the storyline though. Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for and ARC of The Other Mrs. Eden.
Not the thriller I was expecting, but more of a domestic drama and the title disappointed me. It just does not make a good fit. The characters are not particularly likeable either but I am sure this was the authors intention. I kept reading though despite these minor irritations and am glad I did so.
The female protagonists are Kim, the would be actress who gets a job as PA to Jemima Eden a famous actress. Life is not as it seems on the surface for Jemima and her husband George as Kim discovers as she becomes more and more entrenched in the couples life.
The suspense kept me interested and the ending is a good and for me unexpected twist. Fans of domestic drama will enjoy this quick read.

In this psychological thriller, we encounter actors who play typical characters. Then there’s Kim, the assistant who dreams of becoming an actress but must make ends meet. Unfortunately, this means dealing with her boss, Jemima, an extraordinarily dramatic actress. This was a compelling story that pleasantly surprised me with its unexpected twists.
This book is a look at how true the saying "be careful what you wish for" is! Jemima is an actress who lives with her husband George. Jemima is looking for a personal assistant and find the perfect candidate in Kim. Kim eagerly takes the job thinking that this is her way into the acting world being that she's a struggling actress. Once she starts working for Jemima, she quickly discovers that things behind closed doors aren't always what they appear to be.
This is book read more like a family drama, but the ending is where all the thriller vibes were! I enjoyed this book. While slow moving initially, I enjoyed the character background as it helped to make the story fit together. There were secrets throughout that kept me entertained. There were secrets galore in this book, and I wasn't a fan of any of the characters. I did love the ending!

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I have to say that this book started out good but it just fizzled out for me. First of all, the title has nothing at all to do with the book. I kept waiting for something to happen to coincide with this title but it did not. Secondly, I felt like the description of the book was not actually what the book was about. I thought it would be more of a over the top obsession with the personal assistant to the actress. I really did not see it as a thriller until the very end.
‘Fascinating and gripping story! One of my top reads this year. I was on the edge of my seat. Couldn't put it down and those plot twists!!!!!!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this advanced copy. Kim never dreamed she'd be part of a big actress's life. But then she realizes it isn't all it's cracked up to be. But she finds herself dying her hair, wearing the same clothes as Jemima. The more she works for her, the more she learns. What secrets are worth keeping? The twist at the end didn't really surprise me, you could see it coming.
The Other Mrs Eden was a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller. I was completely expecting something similar to the Last Mrs Parrish or the Housemaid. While the story moved rapidly like a Freida or Constantine book, the plot wasn’t really what I was expecting by the title and blurb. The characters were well written, and I enjoyed the twists and turns greatly.
Aspiring actress Kim becomes a famous actress’ personal assistant and gets a leg up in the entertainment business in the process. She begins to mirror her boss almost…and Jemima is left wondering if her PA is trying to steal her life and become the Other Mrs Eden….
Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed the book. I am an avid reader of Frieda Mcfadden, and it made me feel the way you do when you read her books. The book was about two women's lives became entangled and that's when the thrill began. It shows you sometimes being lost in the moment isn't always a good thing. I would definitely suggest this book, you won't regret it. Thank you, Storm publishing, Net galley, and the author, for the honor of receiving a prepublication copy
This story is told between the 2 POV's of the 2 main characters; Kim, the personal assistant, and Jemima Eden the movie star. Kim has just started working as Jemima's PA. Jemima comes across as the typical Hollywood diva- demanding, petty, self-centered. Kim seems to be hard-working, and willing to put up with a lot because she is one paycheck away from being homeless. However, as the story progresses, Kim seems a little more selfish as well. But since this book is about people who go after what they want above all else, the characterization was perfect.
This is a quick read that was somewhat enjoyable. I was in need of an entertaining book that wasn't too dark, or needed much thought, and this was perfect. I wanted to know how the story would unfold, and what the outcome would be. However, there were a few eye-rolling moments at some of the decisions and plot twists.
There are moments where the author tries to humanize Jemima, but there was not any build up to it and it seemed forced had a jarring effect on me. I could not rectify these characteristics to Jemima at 85% into the book when there was no build up or hints about this side of her character.
This book is entertaining, and I did want to know what happened. Give it a try if you are looking for an easy read.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC. THis is my honest and voluntary review.
