I wish I had a book like this when I took the SAT many decades ago and more recently, for my son, when he was preparing for the digital SAT. A lot has changed -- it is shorter, you can use a calculator. What is so great about his guide is that it includes a study plan, it has detailed explanations for each section with tips and sample questions. For the sample questions, it then explains why the answer is the best choice and why the other choices are not. There are sample tests (one in the book and one online) and tons of practice questions. I wanted to review this book because I sometimes tutor students and thought this would be helpful for prepping for the SAT and providing a good review of math (which it does!). This is a great and indispensable guide for anyone preparing to take the SAT.
Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for an ARC and I voluntarily left this review.
As a parent of a high schooler, I was interested to see how the SAT has changed in the past 25 years (yikes!). I loved the format of Digital SAT Supreme Guide. It was easy to read the different section and the practice questions (labeled easy, hard, etc) were helpful. I also found the introductory chapters useful explaining the SAT format. Knowing the format can be just as important as knowing the educational content. Finally, the study plan at the beginning of the book is a helpful guide to stay on track. I would recommend this for anyone taking the SAT or wanting to better understand the SAT.
The structure and content of this book are praiseworthy. The number of practice questions (450+) and the variety of the topic is excellent. I think the book should have had more full-length practice tests. This has one test in the book and access to one online test, but as major competitive books by Princeton, Barrons and Kallis offer more tests, this book might be at a slight disadvantage. I do like that the online practice test will be adaptive just like the Digital SAT.
As with most other such books, the content is divided topic-wise, with each topic containing tips, strategies, and practice questions with details explanatory answers. As I used to teach the Verbal section to entrance exam aspirants, I admit I focussed more on the RWA section than the Math one. I found the quality of the questions and tips to be of a high standard.
I especially appreciate the below points:
- The six-week study plan.
- The dual level strategies – per subject level as well as over test-taking tips.
- The inclusion of common SAT vocabulary.
With the SAT turning digital just lately, this updated and comprehensive version ought to be helpful to every SAT aspirant. As the SAT is usually the first major entrance of a child’s life, keeping the book user-friendly and structured is a great idea.
Definitely recommended.
4 stars.
My thanks to Vibrant Publishers and BooksGoSocial for providing the DRC of “Digital SAT Supreme Guide” via NetGalley. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
The Digital SAT Supreme Guide is exactly what the title says.
It explains the exam from start to finish, gives you detailed pointers and expectations, and you will close this book feeling prepared to take the exam.
I highly recommend this book, on one side, parents and teachers can benefit from having the examples and material to help the students that will be taking the exam. On the other side, the students will have a practical approach, they will be able to practice the sections and questions with good tips and explanations.
While the beginning of the book is all about the A,B,Cs of the Digital SAT, the end focuses on practicing mock tests. The ideal combo for anyone presenting the exam.
The Digital SAT Supreme Guide published by Vibrant Publishers offers a comprehensive and structured approach to mastering the SAT, making it an essential resource for students preparing for this crucial exam. The guide begins with a detailed study plan, helping students to organize their preparation time effectively. Chapter 2 introduces the Reading and Writing (RW) section, providing foundational knowledge and strategies. In Chapters 3 and 4, in-depth explorations follow this, where students learn to analyze central ideas, command evidence, understand text structures, and make inferences. These chapters equip students with the skills to tackle the complexities of the reading section with confidence.
Moving into the math domain, the guide offers a thorough introduction in Chapter 7, gradually progressing to more advanced topics. Chapters 8 and 9 cover essential algebraic concepts, such as linear equations, systems of equations, and nonlinear functions. These sections are particularly well-structured, with clear explanations and plenty of practice problems to reinforce understanding. Chapter 10 focuses on problem-solving and data analysis, which are critical skills for the SAT. The sections on ratios, percentages, and statistical inference are detailed and practical, ensuring students can handle these questions efficiently.
The later chapters, specifically Chapter 11, delve into geometry and trigonometry, covering key topics such as area, volume, lines, angles, and circles. The guide's final chapters are devoted to practice tests and answer keys, providing students with ample opportunities to apply their knowledge and track their progress. The inclusion of modules for both reading and writing, as well as math, ensures that students can practice in a format that closely mimics the actual digital SAT. Overall, this study guide is an invaluable tool for SAT students, offering a clear, methodical, and effective path to achieving their best possible scores.
My high schooler will be taking this test this fall and I wanted to understand changes in Sat, so I could support her. This was a good primer with 2 full tests and plenty of strategies.
I requested Digital SAT Supreme Guide because I am always on the lookout for the changes in testing and education and I love refreshing my memory.
This Supreme Guide covers most things you can think of about SAT - the question types, strategies, topics, how to answer certain questions etc.
It is well-organised.
