Pippa and her brother, Jed, are being taken to stay at their grandfathers house whilst their parent sort out moving house
They haven't visited the cottage in the forest in sometime, after their Grandad took them home unexpectedly during their last trip
Pippa and her brother haven't been as close, but she hopes to be able to spend time with him and explore, however it doesn't take long for events to take a darker turn
There are Hidden Folk in the Forest and are creeping closer to their home, all because of a mistake Pippa made before during their last visit
Can she set things right and save her family...
I really enjoyed this, geared at younger readers (9+) means it is a very easy read (not a critism, I really like Rachels writing style) but definitely darker tones so I have no doubt older kids/adults (like me) will enjoy too!
Great wee standalone read for spooky season, out now. Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette for the review copy, all opinions my own
When I think about how many Neolithic stones with holes in that I’ve dabbled in and through over the course of my life so far then it’s a wonder that I’m alive but I will think twice about even touching one again after reading this book! Genuinely terrifying fairy/horror story that will stay with me for a long time. Beautifully written and memorable characters (both heroes and monsters). Very highly recommended for those not of a nervous disposition!
Such a brilliant story, eerie and atmospheric and full of adventure! I am new to reading middle grade fiction but I’m loving how magical it is… this is definitely one of my favourites! Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for my ARC!
I was lucky enough to beta read the first chapters of this book when the author was still writing it and was thrilled now to get access to the finished version. This is a perfect read for middle grade readers (and adults obvs) who love a bit of a creepy story. Full of folklore and an interesting sibling dynamic, this story is simply wonderful.
