⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for sending me an early e book copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This storyline of this book had so much potential but I found it pretty hard to follow. This story follows the POV of 4 different characters, while the beginning was slow the storyline itself was very interesting I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened to Amelie but I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Overall I did enjoy the story I just wish we got a little more at the end.

When the worst happens and Matthew and Sally’s daughter Amelie goes missing they both blame themselves. Sally is distracted by a phone call and Matthew has a past which may have brought about a revenge abduction.

Matthew is an ex policeman and his involvement in the search for Amelie means that the case becomes more dangerous for him and possibly his daughter. Told over a day to day timeline from the abduction we hear the story in various voices and the tension builds well towards an exciting climax.

A good thriller with lots of characters and well written. I read this in one day and couldn’t put it down. I liked the ending and the style of writing was easy to read and enjoy.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoy this book - it kept me engaged from start to finish and I didn’t have any difficulty understand or relating to the prose. The characters were well developed and easy to like. I’d definitely recommend reading this book!

What would you do if your child was missing and it might be your fault? This is just the topic. Talked about in the Close Your Eyes.

I really enjoyed this book. I kept having to stop and start due to life but whenever I picked it back up, I was easily able to pick the story back up. I thought the book was interesting and the story line kept me engaged.

Wow. This was a good read. Teresa Discoll never disappoints. I'm not a huge fan of police procedurals but Close Your Eyes offered much more than the usual police procedural I like the character of Matthew Hill but really enjoy Mel. The ending was "touch & go" for me but I do definitely recommend this book!

Brilliant read and hard to put down. I chose this because I knew I had enjoyed this author’s previous books. It didn’t disappoint.

This was a wild ride! From the start, it was gripping, and things just kept turning and twisting! It was such an interesting topic, and the father thought it's linked to his past. I was truly interested and HAD to find out who was behind it all and what happened! I love Teresa Driscoll's writing style. It makes you feel like you're there and experiencing the story alongside the characters. And that ending! Whatt! Worthy read, just make sure to block out some time so you can read it in one sitting!

I received this book from NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer to read and review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.

Among novels featuring child abduction / investigation this is a real standout! The author really gets the balance right between action and angst (in my reading experience this is absolutely not easy to get right!!).

The story is that of Matthew and Sally, the daughter of whom, (Amelie) disappears on a shopping trip while Sally is taking a call. Abduction is suspected early on, partially due to Matthews' career as a former policeman / current PI, in which he has a history of receiving threats against his family. There is not much more I can say regarding the plot without giving spoilers but this is such a gripping read, I highly recommend anyone who is on the fence about purchasing it to commit! I found myself delving into this at any opportunity, and eagerly anticipating those precious moments!

Teresa Driscoll is an author I highly rate and yet again she has 100% delivered a fantastic read!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

4* Decent intro to the author. Scary towards the end.

I admit to peaking at the end of the tale before deciding if I could read it - it's always difficult when there's kids, danger and abduction.

Whilst the policing in this feels slightly not-by-the-rules, hearts are in the right place and it's a worthwhile tale. There's a little filler meant to be disguised as red herrings, but they're left open-ended... There's also a rather sad side death where those involved get their comeuppance, which was one of the more satisfying parts of the tale.

For me the scariest part were the caravan scenes, because it sounded like no one was going to make it out alive. And the discoveries? Ugh ☹️

For me, thrillers are somewhat therapeutic. More precisely, liberating. If I ever feel overwhelmed by life itself, the only book that can pull me out is a fast-paced, intense, emotion-packed psychological thriller.

Teresa Driscoll, with her novel, more than succeeded in transporting me out of reality and making me empathize and worry for her characters, whom I never for a moment thought were just fictional because they feel entirely real.

Mathew is a private detective, a former police officer, who usually deals with finding missing persons. However, one day his eight-year-old daughter disappears without a trace, and despite his efforts, he is powerless.

However, along with this case in the novel, there is another one, and they intertwine in such a way that as the story progresses, we must become increasingly worried about the fate of little Amelie, as well as the other randomly involved persons.

A great novel. I'm glad I came across Teresa by chance on Netgalley, and I know for sure that I will soon read all her other novels.

I was privileged to read some of Teresa's previous novels and thoroughly enjoyed them

This book was no different

What a read. 5 stars. Quick read kept me entertained what more can one ask for

I really like Teresa Driscoll's writing, but this book was not for me. I hate missing child books - they're so overdone and there's never any real jeopardy as the child is always fine. I hoped for a shock ending at one point, but no. Yawn.

The writing was really good, as ever, and there were some interesting parts of the plot, such as Olivia and her dad's backstory, but overall I found this novel underwhelming. It will find its audience for sure, but it isn't me.

Matthew Hill’s daughter Amelie has been kidnapped in broad daylight when out shopping with her mother, Sally. Although they have no witnesses, they have a pretty strong lead – the woman who threatened him years ago. He left the force out of guilt, believing he caused the death of a young boy, and his mother’s threat made the guilt even worse. It took him years to believe in himself again and then Amelie is taken. In his mind, there are no other suspects – there’s simply no one else with a motive. But the officers in charge can’t assume anything and they scour for CCTV footage, witnesses, any piece of evidence, no matter how tiny. But there is nothing.

The reader also sees what is happening with Amelie, from the point of view of someone associated with taking her. It’s a bit complicated but explaining much more might be considered a spoiler. It’s not a traditional mystery, as we know who committed the crime – it’s more about if and how Matthew and the officers will be able to piece it together in time.

So, we follow both narratives and hope that they end up converging into one happy ending. You’ll have to read the book to find out, and there are some good surprises in store. You’ll recognize the characters if you’ve read previous stories by this author, but you don’t need to in order to follow along. There’s a lot of focus on that earlier case of Matthew’s but his amount of guilt grated on me a bit. Sure, he’s a good person and is compassionate when a tragedy occurs, but he was just doing his job as any other officer would have done. If a crime hadn’t been committed in the first place, things wouldn’t have transpired as they did. I just feel he could have moved on from it quicker than he did.

Be sure to check it out if you enjoy mysteries that are heartfelt and entertaining. You can’t find a better example.

One minute Sally and her daughter, Amelie, are on a normal busy shopping trip and the next minute Amelie is gone! Did she wander away or was she abducted? Did the abduction have anything to do with her father's old cases as a detective? The races is on to find her before something terrible happens. This was my first book by this author and I did not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this story. It is full of suspense as Matthew works with his old partner, Melanie, to find his daughter. I thought there were some interesting twists to it and it held my attention to the end. I'd be interested in reading the other books now that I read this one. Thanks for the ACR of this book!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC.
This is a difficult book for me to review. It's, as usual, really well written, with a tense story that keeps you on your toes with your breath held. However, I was uncomfortable throughout; the story made me feel uneasy and frantic. The agony of Sally, Matthew and Mel as they're trying to find Amelie really got to me, but Part 2 was even worse with the three girls and the freaky father,
So I have to say I didn't like it and give it two stars. Sorry!

Matthew Hill and Melanie Sanders are at it again in this suspenseful and thrilling read!

For years, Melanie has tried convincing Matthew to return to the police force but he’s remained steadfast in his assertion that he’s better suited for his private investigator business. Despite this, Melanie frequently asks Matthew for his help in her cases, much to his wife’s, Sally, dismay. Matthew was recently shot in the shoulder helping with a case and Sally is always fearful of the danger he puts himself in.

But then Matthew finds himself asking Melanie for her help when a case hits much too close to home. Sally is shopping with a now 8 year old Amelie and is distracted by finding information on her phone as Amelie pleads with her to let her try on a green dress. Feeling rushed and hurried, Sally says no then steps outside the shop to take a call. When she returns inside, Amelie is gone.

Matthew has made a name for himself both as a former police officer and as a private investigator. But there are people who feel Matthew has ruined their lives and want revenge. With Melanie requesting to be involved in the search, Matthew feels helpless being regulated to the sidelines. Where is Amelie and will they find her? Has Sally had enough of the danger Matthew puts his family in? Readers can find out November 1st which is the anticipated release date!

Thank you to NetGalley, Teresa Driscoll, and the publishers for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. Having read all the other books with Matthew and Melanie, it was a pleasure!

Thank you Teresa Driscoll, Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for the eARC of Close Your Eyes.

An Ex Detective, Matt who becomes a Private Investigator finds missing people. But what happens when his daughter, Amelie goes missing after her Mother, Sally takes a call on a shopping trip. One minute Amelie is there and then gone. It's now a race against time to find Amelie. The most important time is 48 hrs to find and track down leads but Matts hands are tied. He needs to rely on the police force and his an old work mate, Mel Saunders to follow protocol. Will they find her?

I read this book in 2 seatings over a period of a day. I found that the plot line, which was medium paced very gripping. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the main characters and had a feeling that there was a lot of past history. Ive since learned that even though this book isn't officially part of a series. There is a backing story that mentioned within some of Teresa's other books so you can read this as a standalone or catch the underlaying storyline. As a parent, this really is your worst nightmare and that was portrayed really well within the storyline. The Mc's are very relatable, well built and felt 3D.

The pacing of the book felt constant at a medium pace and had good elects of suspense, intrigue and the story of both why Matt ended up doing PI and why Amelie went missing entwined very well. The final pay off at the end of the book had me literally on my seat!

4.5 stars for Storygraph, rounded to 5 for Amazon, Goodreads and Netgalley
