Really great patterns, I found it really easy to follow along with and it was full of really useful tips on crochet!! I'm a beginner and found it great!
Hot Girl Crochet : Fun & easy crochet projects, from bags to bikinis. This is a fabulous, really stylish crotchet pattern book that will appeal to all ages and levels (especially the younger generation wanting to learn crotchet). Excellent instructions and colourful pictures. A lovely book that would make a great gift.
I loved the layout of this book and how easy to follow it was. So many crochet books seem a little dated or only aimed at older generations so to have something that I can sell that is modern and attractive to all ages is great. I appreciated having the techniques and stitches at the beginning of the book and the chapters were easy to reference. My only gripe is that the pictures for each pattern were grouped together instead of after the corresponding step so it was harder to follow the pictures going step by step.
Hygiene alarm bells are ringing after reading this: "I wouldn’t recommend washing, steaming or pressing crocheted articles made from wool or some other natural fibres (see here for more about various natural fibres). Wool basically cleans itself; it doesn’t really need to be washed – all it needs is to be hung up to air if necessary."
Otherwise, it's an interesting compilation of patterns from a young, attractive influencer, taken in artsy, social-media-style photos. Many of the patterns are retro-inspired, and the clothes are more suited for people who like skimpy designs -- think a backless top, holey dress and super holey skirt.
It would have been good to show photos of the front, back and sides for all the patterns, which would be helpful for readers deciding what to crochet. I was a little disappointed that The Little Bag That Went Viral pattern was not of the chequered bag she originally created, but instead a variation.
Photos are also included of her designs that are not patterns in the book, which could be misleading for readers.
This is a fantastic book filled with unique projects. The patterns were super easy to follow and it’ll delight anyone who loves crocheting their own clothes and decor.
A lovely introduction to crochet with a good range and well-illustrated, simple patterns for garments and accessories.
Lovely book, looks very 70s in style which fits with the crochet theme. Easy to read and a variety of patterns to test out. Some easy and some more complex so a good range for those starting out and those more experienced.
Great instructions for learning to crochet. I think I would have liked more projects to make. Thanks to Netgalley.
Hot Girl Crochet by Rose Svane was a great book to learn to crochet your own clothes, accessories, and homeware with contemporary crochet book. I found it very easy to follow, it had lot of information with detailed instructions throughout with great diagrams on how to do all the stitches. with step by step instructions and other techniques you need to create some wonderful items.
A great book all round.
Hot Girl Crochet is a really great introduction to crochet it starts off really informative with lots of detailed instructions and diagrams on how to preform the stitches and other techniques to give you the basics to move forward. the patterns are written in a discussion format walking you through in a step by step approach. The designs are showcased with lots of cool analogue style photography, they're all really summery 90's vibes and really wearable pieces and they're definitely great for the summer season.
As a person who works in the yarn and design industry it's really great to see a new to me designer again establishing early on how important tension is and also giving information on how to changing a hook size to help aid that adjustment in tension. Tension can hugely effect your end result and askew your sizing so always check tension before making garments at least or fall short to the yarn gods and sizing faeries haha!
There's also a small discussion on sizing which was something that felt was slightly lacking however the projects themselves do walk you through how to develop the size you're wanting by almost self drafting from garments you already own. The book has a good range of designs from homewares to accessories and garments so lots to choose from.
I'd say it was a great starter book for anyone wanting to dabble and play around and have fun with their projects and move along with their crochet journey!
There are a few accessories in this book that I’m interested in making, but the rest of the ideas are just not my style or I’ve seen them before elsewhere,
Absolutely gorgeous book for beginners who want to learn to crochet contemporary clothes and accessories--even cool items for the home--with a fab Scandi feel. I'm taking up crocheting now and this fine book will convince you to do so too!
I absolutely love the concept and design of this book. Too many crafty books are for the older generations but this brings crochet into the modern world with such cute designs. There are good drawings and explanations with plenty of pictures and the designs are so cute. I can’t wait to make more.
It’s a good book for the absolute crocheting beginners, full of useful information and tips, as well as cool and easy patterns. The section about reading visual patterns would
Make more sense if there were examples and explanations to each sign etc.
I’m not giving the top mark here as those are pretty common items, patterns available for free online. So they are kind of lacking originality. Overall cute position but not essential
Hot Girl Crochet is a fantastic guide for new crocheters.
The designs are beautiful, and the book inspires you to get creative with your colour choices. The instructions are easy to follow and focus more on techniques than just patterns, making it great for beginners. It includes a variety of projects, from items for your home to clothing.
I like that many of the clothing patterns are based on sizes of clothes you already have, but I wish there were more options for mid to plus sizes.
Overall, this book is sure to capture attention thanks to its fun title and lovely patterns.
I have read many crochet books trying to find inspiration of things to make and often I am disappointed as they tend to be quite old fasioned. With a title like Hot Girl Crochet I had high hopes for this one. Whilst there is some lovely tops and a skirt that is really cute, I dont think that it quite lived up to my expectations. I guess with crochet there is only so much "hot stuff" you can make! There is a bag in there that looks amazing and I think that will be the first thing on my hook after this.
I have always wanted to learn how to crochet and I think this book will be perfect for that so I can't wait to buy the physical copy! It is very informative and easy to follow, it covers everything you need to know and has some great designs. I loved the layout and the pictures!
Hot Girl Crochet offers a good base for essentials targeting those who are new to crochet as well as those looking for a new challenge. In addition to the fun patterns, the book features easy-to-digest explanations about the types of yarn and stitches available.
I most often gravitate towards crocheting scarves and blankets and wished that those had been covered too, but the existing patterns were lovely. This book is bound to capture interest, particularly among teens due to the title.
A great guide to crochet, covering all the basics with easy to read instructions and guidelines! The patterns included have such variety and are so cute, have already recommended this book to a friend.
An interesting book. There were some good designs included with clear instructions and lovely tips on how to make the project your own.
An ideal read for the newbie crocheter and a book that I may consider for my class.
