Wow such a divine Christmas book I loved it!
A truely heartwarming story extolling the virtues of home, friends, family and Christmas!
Imogen a workaholic with no real life or friends outside of work is teetering on the edge of burnout following issues at work and the fraught relationship she has with her absent disengaged mother, when told by her boss that she needs to take a month off and recalibrate/relax Imogen is filled with dread and anxiety!
Enter Dorothy one of her clients who invites her to stay in her cottage for a break and the story really unfolds, revelations, friendship, love, and family abound as Imogen discovers the meaning of family and all it entails!
Heartwarming, wholesome, and full of Christmas magic
Thank you NetGalley for this early read
Firstly, thank you so much for letting me have the pleasure of reading this beautiful book early.
In this book we follow the run up to Christmas with Imogen, Sara, and Dorothy. Three ladies who all have a difficult time around Christmas. Together they build bridges with the past and learn to work together for the future
This is one of my absolutely favourite authors so I was super excited to read their latest book as part of my Christmas in July reading.
This was a beautiful read that was both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time and was so much more than just a Christmas read. The characters were engaging and relatable and the setting sounded idyllic. This was a story of family, friendship and how the events of the past have shaped the future and also of second chances. I was throughly invested in this story from the first page and read it in practically one sitting.
This would make a fabulous hallmark film and I am definitely going to re read it in December
I’m always so excited when there’s a new Sarah Morgan, especially a Christmas novel as she is the queen of Christmas. This one is no exception. I’ve read it on holiday in Florida but her prose still evokes Christmas so clearly I can almost taste it. Once again I loved the three perspectives of the sane situation from the members of the s family. Imogen was a great character- a little too driven at the start but all too understandable given her background. Tina created her insecurities and I did wonder about the future between them but was glad it didn’t end in a cliched reconciliation which would have jarred with the rest of the book. Imogen’s attitude to the past was admirable and her growing relationship with the family was brilliant. I loved all the characters but especially Ralph and Ava. Perfect Christmassy read to get you in the mood- even in July in the sunshine.
What a totally amazing book, my first Christmas book of 2024 and what a way to start.
A story of how a lonely girl with no family to call her own can tell so many stories she ties herself up in knots.
When one particular disaster leads her to having lunch with client Dorothy her whole outlook on life is changed.
Full of Christmas twinkles and festive magic and a very naught dog names Ralph, set between London and the Cotswolds it’s a book for anyone who loves Christmas and The Holiday Movie..
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of Sarah’s new Christmas book.
A Christmas Cottage is everything you would expect from Sarah Morgan. Theres secrets, romance, family and a little mystery all with a festive backdrop.
Imogen is relatable and understandable in so many ways. Even if you wouldnt do the thugs she did its easy to understand and sypathise with her. Dorothy is her favourite client but they seem more like friends so when shes offered a life line its great to see Imogen take hold of an opportunity and made a change - it makes you root for her.
Having never been much of a Christmas person, Imogen planned to continue to work over the holidays as much as she could. Not having a big family meant it was no big deal. So when her boss decides she’s running on empty and tells her she has to take all her accrued holidays starting immediately she’s at a loss. She’s never had so much time on her hands. Luckily one of her clients offers her the use of her cottage in the countryside and she accepts. Maybe she can sneakily work while she’s there. But the trip to the country turns into more than Imogen could have ever imagined.
I have read many of this authors books, mostly her wonderfully festive books so when I was invited to read this on netgalley I obviously jumped at the chance. Even during a British heatwave I was still pulled into the Christmas spirit. The Queen of Christmas books has written another great book that I literally couldn’t put down. So much festiveness in one book, it was brilliant. Great characters and a lovely cozy story.
Another fantastic Christmas read by Sarah Morgan which had everything from romance , Christmas cheer, family, friendship and cute dogs.
The story focuses on Imogen who is a workaholic but we soon find out why. The characters were likeable and also relatable and I loved Mlles. The setting was stunning and I could just imagine sitting in Holly Cottage with the fire on and a hot chocolate.
This is a 5 star Christmas read which I would recommend to everyone with a prefect ending.
Thanks to NetGalley, Sarah Morgan and HQ for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
