Imogen is a workaholic who has no home or social life. She makes up stories about a fake dog, family and boyfriends to try and fit in with her work colleagues. She organises corporate marketing events and is excellent at her job. One day though she has 3 events to supervise when she gets a call from a hospital about her mother. It topples the well planned day Imogen thought she was going to have. The next day she is concerned her boss is going to fire her but instead of that she is given a month away from work to rest, her boss fears that Imogen is close to burnout.
Imogen has no idea what to do with her enforced holiday. She has arranged a pre Christmas lunch with a favourite client of hers, Dorothy who is the matriarch of a family vineyard. Dorothy realises Imogen is very upset and has an idea to invite her to stay in Holly Cottage, a holiday let she owns on her estate.
It’s a happy Christmas book including romance and family with trips to buy Christmas trees, Christmas markets, light instillations, and lots of food with a twist before we get to all of this. I did feel it left an issue unresolved towards the end but maybe that’s another story to be told in a different book.
THANK YOU NETGALLEY FOR AN EARLY COPY OF THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE.
Sarah Morgan can do no wrong in my eyes. I really love her Christmassy romance and I really love how emotive these reads are becoming. I am not typically a crier when I read books but this one had me destroyed - in all the right ways. I found I kept balling my eyes out at several points but I totally loved it. This book had me unlocked. Embracing the joy of Christmas (Yes in July and NO I'm not sorry).
I loved the characters - I loved the intrigue and I loved how everything knitted together so perfectly. I'm so so so glad that a certain character didn't reappear as I didn't need their happy ending and quite frankly it didn't sound it like it was deserved. I'm glad that end was tied up as it was but it didn't take the magic away from the story or the setting.
I'm so glad I picked this up and honestly could read more and more spin offs around these characters so if they're coming... SIGN ME UP.
The easiest 5 star I've ever given.
I always do a little happy dance when I hear that Sarah Morgan has a new book out as she is one of my favourite authors and she writes the BEST Christmas romance books
In A Christmas Cottage we follow Imogen, a dedicated but overworked events organiser who is forced by her boss to take a month-long break. With her personal life in shambles and no family to turn to she accepts her client, Dorothy's offer to stay at her countryside cottage.
This is the perfect read for anyone who enjoys heartwarming christmas stories, it is full of heartwarming moments and sprinkled with Christmas magic 🎄.
Imogen had a job which takes up all her time but then she has no one else. Only a mother who disowned her. She starts a new job and pretends to have a family and a dog so that she fits in. Then just before Christmas it all falls apart but Dorothy one of her clients offers her the chance to stay in her spare cottage. But then things unfold in a most unexpected way. Has she found what’s she’s been looking for? Can love win out in the end?
Imogen is an events organiser but is letting everything get on top of her until a catastrophe happens and her boss makes her take a month off. Her client Dorothy offers her a cottage on her land and everything changes. Loved this book with all the twists and turns
I am always super excited for Sarah Morgan's yearly Christmas novel and this one was every bit as beautiful as the others!
I loved the setting, the heart-warming storyline and the characters.

ticks all the cosy, wintery romance requirements with lots of lovely scenery, a magical sounding Christmas market and a wonderful love story.
Nothing not to love!
It’s always a treat to read a new Sarah Morgan book, even a Christmas one in August. Imogen seems to have it all, a great job, a loving family, but her life is definitely not perfect. This is such a good read, heart warming, heart rending, inspiring and makes you want to hold your own family tight. And be lucky enough to have a proper White Christmas.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.
A cosy Christmas read.
Imogen had a hard life as a child with her mother and even though she has a high profile job her private life is all pretend, at work she is told to have a month off work as she is a t burnout.
Dorothy who is a client of hers offers her guest cottage to stay for a month over the Christmas period, but Dorothy is not who she seems and Imogen`s life starts to change for the better.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC and I give my honest review.
An idyllic Christmas emerges for a family torn apart at earlier time. It has all the charms of the festive season bringing joy , friendship, romance and family together. There are amusing moments ,sprinkled with tearful. Characters you will take to your heart . A sprinkle of Christmas cheer goes a long way
Wow such a divine Christmas book I loved it!
A truely heartwarming story extolling the virtues of home, friends, family and Christmas!
Imogen a workaholic with no real life or friends outside of work is teetering on the edge of burnout following issues at work and the fraught relationship she has with her absent disengaged mother, when told by her boss that she needs to take a month off and recalibrate/relax Imogen is filled with dread and anxiety!
Enter Dorothy one of her clients who invites her to stay in her cottage for a break and the story really unfolds, revelations, friendship, love, and family abound as Imogen discovers the meaning of family and all it entails!
Heartwarming, wholesome, and full of Christmas magic
Thank you NetGalley for this early read
Firstly, thank you so much for letting me have the pleasure of reading this beautiful book early.
In this book we follow the run up to Christmas with Imogen, Sara, and Dorothy. Three ladies who all have a difficult time around Christmas. Together they build bridges with the past and learn to work together for the future
This is one of my absolutely favourite authors so I was super excited to read their latest book as part of my Christmas in July reading.
This was a beautiful read that was both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time and was so much more than just a Christmas read. The characters were engaging and relatable and the setting sounded idyllic. This was a story of family, friendship and how the events of the past have shaped the future and also of second chances. I was throughly invested in this story from the first page and read it in practically one sitting.
This would make a fabulous hallmark film and I am definitely going to re read it in December
I’m always so excited when there’s a new Sarah Morgan, especially a Christmas novel as she is the queen of Christmas. This one is no exception. I’ve read it on holiday in Florida but her prose still evokes Christmas so clearly I can almost taste it. Once again I loved the three perspectives of the sane situation from the members of the s family. Imogen was a great character- a little too driven at the start but all too understandable given her background. Tina created her insecurities and I did wonder about the future between them but was glad it didn’t end in a cliched reconciliation which would have jarred with the rest of the book. Imogen’s attitude to the past was admirable and her growing relationship with the family was brilliant. I loved all the characters but especially Ralph and Ava. Perfect Christmassy read to get you in the mood- even in July in the sunshine.
What a totally amazing book, my first Christmas book of 2024 and what a way to start.
A story of how a lonely girl with no family to call her own can tell so many stories she ties herself up in knots.
When one particular disaster leads her to having lunch with client Dorothy her whole outlook on life is changed.
Full of Christmas twinkles and festive magic and a very naught dog names Ralph, set between London and the Cotswolds it’s a book for anyone who loves Christmas and The Holiday Movie..
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of Sarah’s new Christmas book.
A Christmas Cottage is everything you would expect from Sarah Morgan. Theres secrets, romance, family and a little mystery all with a festive backdrop.
Imogen is relatable and understandable in so many ways. Even if you wouldnt do the thugs she did its easy to understand and sypathise with her. Dorothy is her favourite client but they seem more like friends so when shes offered a life line its great to see Imogen take hold of an opportunity and made a change - it makes you root for her.
Having never been much of a Christmas person, Imogen planned to continue to work over the holidays as much as she could. Not having a big family meant it was no big deal. So when her boss decides she’s running on empty and tells her she has to take all her accrued holidays starting immediately she’s at a loss. She’s never had so much time on her hands. Luckily one of her clients offers her the use of her cottage in the countryside and she accepts. Maybe she can sneakily work while she’s there. But the trip to the country turns into more than Imogen could have ever imagined.
I have read many of this authors books, mostly her wonderfully festive books so when I was invited to read this on netgalley I obviously jumped at the chance. Even during a British heatwave I was still pulled into the Christmas spirit. The Queen of Christmas books has written another great book that I literally couldn’t put down. So much festiveness in one book, it was brilliant. Great characters and a lovely cozy story.
Another fantastic Christmas read by Sarah Morgan which had everything from romance , Christmas cheer, family, friendship and cute dogs.
The story focuses on Imogen who is a workaholic but we soon find out why. The characters were likeable and also relatable and I loved Mlles. The setting was stunning and I could just imagine sitting in Holly Cottage with the fire on and a hot chocolate.
This is a 5 star Christmas read which I would recommend to everyone with a prefect ending.
Thanks to NetGalley, Sarah Morgan and HQ for an advance copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
