While I think this book was a cute and easy read. It felt like there was a lack of really any depth and the attraction and general personalities of the story are very surface level. If that is something that you are fine with and want a really light read about goofy pets and their owners then this one is for you.
I want more of these two and their puppies. I think this was a super cute manga, and I loved that there were points where you see from the dogs' perspectives. I definitely want to keep reading to see where this relationship goes.
✨4 stars✨
Thank you Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for this eARC!!
This was so stinking cute!! Both the story and the art style are absolutely adorable. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!!
This book was absolutely adorable. A big guy with a little, fancy girl dog and a lady with a massive Beasty boy dog... how can they not fall for each other when we all know Pupposites Attract? I love that the dogs and the owners are the opposites of their usual stereotypes too! The rottie is a big ole baby and the little Pom totally has lab vibes going on. I love the slow build of friendship between the 4. I also love the banter. If you need a feel good book about cute dogs and cuter romance between a fire fighter and a teacher... look no further! I loved the art and the plot.
The art was well done and the story is pretty cute but it fell a little flat for me. This is definitely a "slice of life" style story so don't expect much plot. I like that sometimes, but for this story specifically, there just wasn't enough interest in the characters to get me excited to read it. But it does have great art and is really cute so if you like slower cute stories you should give this a try.
This was a cute manga. I like the way the characters connected and how the story involved their dogs. Just adorable,
This whole story is wholesome. I love the art style and the little details throughout the manga. I like how Kiyotaka and Chiharu are opposite. Also like the fact that Tsubo is sweet and helpful for being a big dog. I also like how the author puts the dog’s point of views in the story. I can’t wait to see what happens between Kiyotaka and Chiharu. Also can’t wait to see what happens with the dog’s.
This one is super cute! I love the graphics and the fun of pets in the story. Our hero has a small dog and the heroine has a bigger dog.
This manga is adorable, wholesome and exactly what you think it is. A couple meets and bonds over their dogs. Chiharu is a women with a big intimidating dog and Kiyotaka is a man with a cute little dog. This is just a chill, slice of life manga about people and their dogs. Super cute.
This is a cute manga story about two dog owners. Bold Chiharu and her scaredy-cat Rottweiler Tsubu-chan, and shy Kiyotaka with his bold Pomeranian, Monjuro. This is a slow burn romance between the two as they get to know each other and the dogs get to know each other too.
It is well drawn and engaging and I am looking forward to the next volume. If you like cutesy mangas then this one is for you!
This was cute and funny and I love all of the dog content but the actual people were kind of eh and I didn’t really care about them at all beyond their capacity as dog owners.
OMG the cuteness! Pupposites Attract is a delightful romp that mixes canine capers with blossoming romance, and it’s just the kind of heartwarming tale you need to brighten your day!
Meet Chiharu, a pocket-sized powerhouse of boldness, and her timid Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan, who’s a big ol’ bundle of fluff and nerves!
Seriously, imagine a fearless firecracker paired with a furry teddy bear who’s more likely to hide behind a tree than chase a squirrel. It’s the ultimate odd-couple dynamic, and I can’t get enough! And then there’s Kiyotaka, who’s like a gentle giant in a world full of action heroes, paired with his bubbly Pomeranian, Monjuro, who’s ready to charm everyone with those adorable puppy eyes. Together, these pairs form an unbreakable bond that’s as sweet as a freshly baked cookie!
The manga shines with vibrant art that captures both the quirky personalities of the humans and their furry counterparts perfectly. Hono Natsuna has a knack for illustrating emotions, one moment you’re giggling at Tsubu-chan’s dramatic flops, and the next, you’re swooning as Kiyotaka and Chiharu navigate the tangled web of feelings that starts to blossom between them.
As Chiharu and Kiyotaka embark on their daily walks, the interactions between the dogs( and their humans) become a melting pot of laughter, surprises, and, yes, the occasional heart fluttering moment.
There’s a certain magic in the air when these two duos come together, and it’s fun to watch how their contrasting personalities spark some seriously adorable chemistry.
You’ll find yourself rooting for this mismatched pair, hoping they figure out how to embrace their differences and let their feelings grow.
Will Chiharu’s confidence rub off on the shy Kiyotaka? Can Tsubu-chan and Monjuro play matchmakers in the cutest way possible? The suspense is real, and I can’t wait for the next volume to see where their walk leads them!
Pupposites Attract Volume 1 is a charming slice-of-life manga that celebrates the beauty of contrasts in both pets and their owners. It’s fluffy, funny, and filled with warm fuzzies that make it the perfect read for dog lovers and romance fans alike.
This was a really cute graphic novel about a short woman with a large dog, and a tall guy with a small dog and they keep bumping into each other with their dogs.
So cute!! The perfect read for when you need a pick-me-up. Ideal for both shoujo fans and dog lovers! It was so funny seeing the differences between the dogs, and also between the owners. One of my favourite things is how their friendship is set up, and the pace in which it develops. It is realistic and wholesome.
If you're looking for a pure and fluffy adult comedy, this is the manga for you!
This series will definitely become my comfort read <3
This is such an adorable manga! It's been awhile since a manga made me this giddy. Our main characters and their lovely pets are all so adorable. The bond between the main characters and their dogs is endearing, mirroring the love their pets feel for them.
The first volume introduces us to Chiharu, a teacher, and her pet Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan. We also meet Kiyotaka, a firefighter, and his Pomeranian, Monjuro. They coincidentally cross paths in their neighborhood during walks with their pets. Their first meet is an amusing encounter, and we readers could already gather how opposite they are in thoughts and actions. The same goes for their pets, who are extremely opposite to how they look. They are all incredibly adorable. I love them. There are supporting characters in this manga that are equally entertaining.
I really appreciate how Chiharu and Kiyotaka support each other in overcoming their problems and insecurities. In this volume, we can already see the beginnings of their awareness of each other, which will eventually lead to affection. It's so enjoyable to read! Not only that, their pets are the best. Honestly, there are no bad pets; they all deserve love.
Thank you, Kodansha, for my copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
★★★★ // On a serendipitous day, schoolteacher Chiharu and her Rottweiler, Tsubu-chan, meet firefighter Kiyotaka and his Pomeranian, Monjuro. After several meetings, sparks start to fly between the seemingly-opposite pair as they begin to discover more about each other.
As a dog lover and dog owner myself, I knew I just had to read this wholesome, fluffy story. I loved how right at the start, readers get to see the contrasting personalities of our two leads - them having opposing thoughts written with the same words next to each other on the page was a nice touch.
The only thing that took some time for me to get used to was the structure - every chapter seemed to be an isolated event, not linked by a central plot (more like a slice-of-life perspective). I'm used to reading more linear manga, where every chapter is a direct continuation of the previous, so this writing style threw me off a bit but isn't a large enough issue to stop me from wanting to read more.
I'm curious to see where this story goes and how it will progress!
This manga is adorable!! I love anything dog related so this was automatically a win for me. The character are sweet, the art is good and did I mention the dogs???? So much fun.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga. This was a cute story that if I want a slice of life dog story, I will probably pick up some more, however it is not a new favorite. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Pupposites Attract is a wholesome low-stakes romance between two dog owners that cross paths on walks. I loved the dynamic of a small, strong-willed woman with a huge dog and a shy tall man with a tiny puppy. There’s an added layer of the dog’s personality matching the other owner that was just too adorable.
The romance was perfectly paced, watching the main characters move from strangers to friends to maybe something more had me kicking my little feet with joy. Even as someone who has no desire to ever own a dog, especially a big one, I couldn’t help but fall for the sweet-natured Rottweiler Tsubu-chan. An easy recommendation for dog lovers and those seeking a fluffy and warm romance.
A good manga for cute dogs and cute scenarios. I really enjoyed reading this manga as it was a fresh concept that others will definitively like as well.
