Monjuro is a perky Pomeranian. Tsubu is a retiring Rottweiler. Their owners are Kiyotaka and Chiharu. Several chance meetings turn to intentional ones as they all grow closer. But if you think I won’t make a lame joke about the relationship going to the dogs, well, you’re barking up the wrong tree.

As a dyed in the wool cat person, this story should have as much weight with me as little Monjuro, but it has a heart as big as Tsubu. It’s a surprisingly fun and wholesome little romance that gives both warm fuzzies and possibly some mild shedding.

Sometimes it really is the smallest thing, and the switch of the dog personalities so Tsubu is the softest Rottweiler in existence and Monjuro basically owns Kiyotaka, instead of the reverse, was a smart play. It might not feel fresh but it at least reheats the leftovers real well.

This also translates to the owners - Chiharu keeps Tsubu on a short leash, but Monjuro could probably murder somebody in front of Kiyotaka and the latter would just run off to grab a shovel and some bleach. It just makes things a touch more interesting than they would be otherwise.

Honestly, Tsubu low-key steals this volume with his wimpy behaviour. Seeing something this huge be this timid and affectionate is not new, but the mangaka has so much fun that it’s hard not to just go along with it and have a good time. And when he worries Chiharu might forget him? The feels!

These little touches enliven a pedestrian (appropriate given how much they walk the dogs) romance that is just getting started, but is very firmly in the ‘shy to admit it but we’ll get there’ camp.

The art is quite nice, the characters are enjoyable to hang out with, the whole thing is chill without feeling bland. It also has a couple of downright hilarious moments - that bit with the CPR dummy just comes out of nowhere and is hysterically vicious.

Even the anthropomorphism of the pooches is done just lightly enough that I’ll allow it. There’s entirely too much charming stuff in this whole thing - this has the world’s cutest dog bib and it’s not even close.

No, if you don’t like pets or slow-burn romance you won’t enjoy this. But I was able to take a chance on this thanks to Kodansha and, boy, was I ever glad that I did. It’s not the next “wow” romance, but it is utterly sweet and heartwarming. The very definition of ‘feel good’.

4 stars - dogs are still things that happen to other people, but if more of them were like this I might be convinced to change my mind (just kidding, my cats rule, but that doesn’t give a good ending line for the review).

4.25 out of 5 stars!

When I saw the cover of this book I knew I had to prepare myself for some cuteness overload, and it really did turn it being one of the cutest most sweetest mana I have read!
Before this I have never read a manga that focuses on dogs or their owners before. The drawing is too cute, the story is too cute and the title speaks for itself.

I can't wait to read more about Chiharu, Kiyotaka and their sweet fluffy companions!

I really liked this it was soo freaking sweet and cute. The dogs are soooo adorable. his younger brother at the park was funny. I hope we get more relationship movement in the next volume. The art is adorable as well. I liked the chapter where we got the dogs POV, I wouldn't !one more of that in the next volume either. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC In exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley for approving me for this ARC. I loved the main character and their dynamics with one another and with their dogs. While I do wish we got to see a little more of the brother and coworkers, I’m sure that will be included in the sequel or other volumes. I liked how the translation notes had images, it made the terms easy to understand and engaging. Overall, the plot was engaging but also low stakes so it was easy to enjoy and relax while reading the book. I can’t wait to read the second volume!

This is an adorable TOOTH-ROTTING FLUFF about two opposites who get attracted to each other because of all the meet cutes they keep having (BECAUSE OF THEIR ADORABLE DOGS)
I absolutely loved this manga! Cant wait for the next volumes to come
As a owner of dogs and cats, it’s like my favourite fantasy come to life, but alas, we don’t live in this perfect world where love can be found anywhere!
4 STARS for the adorable dogs (and their even more adorable owners)
Thanks to NetGalley, Kodansha Comics, and to the Author for the ARC!

After seeing this manga everywhere on TikTok I was pleasantly surprised to see it on NetGalley.

This is such a cute story about two people and their dogs, from meeting each other the first time to spending time together and getting to know each other.

I wish it was longer though… I’m just a sucker for a romance WITH CUTE DOGS.

I am hooked! This manga was so cute and so heart warming. I loved the contrast between the dogs but the joint love for their own pets was felt so strongly.

The human/dog relationship was captured so so well and I loved that we got to know the insecurities of the girl when it comes to her ability to control strength. Loved the opposites attract trope just would have preferred a bit more to happen in the plot.

"Pupposites attract 1" is such a cute story. It's full of fluff (no pun intended) :)

The plot revolvs around two characters who keep bumping together because of their dogs. Their relationship blossoms through these chance encounters, and maybe turns into something more? This is such a meet cute story, and i will love seeing if the story gets sequels so that i can see their relationship blossom some more. The story ended in such a cliffhanger that just leaves me wanting more. The book also shows how deep and complex the relationships we have with pets can be, and how they can change how we see the world, and experience certain things.

Not only did i love the main story, but the small extra comics at the end were so cute. Including what would happen if you woke up with your body switched with your dogs', freaky friday style.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I just wanted to check this out because it looked cute--and it IS. It's a sweet little story with dogs and awkward crushes. I can't wait to read more. I love this sort of adorable low stakes happy fluff.

This was definitely a fluffy (no-pun intended), low-stakes romance. The beginning was very episodic where the chapters are super short while the second half of the story, which I much preferred, expands on the characters and lets us into their worlds. It was definitely heart-warming in. the end, and I'm a huge animal lover and a pet owner so I loved seeing the bonds between the owners and their pooches!

This was my first manga read, to fill up for the 24 in 24 Readathon. I'm glad I picked this up.
It was tricky for me in the beginning, because I couldn't understand the flow of the storyline/plot. But with time I adapted to it. There were also quite new words, thank goodness there was a dictionary at the end.
For the beginners, I'll be quite apprehensive in recommending this one. But if you have been reading mangas for a long time, you'll enjoy this one. It's cute and adorable.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

This was such a cute manga! I loved the characters (dog and human) and the relationship between the two MCs. It was just very adorable!

For those who have a dog as a pet, this manga is ideal. It shows us two people who have adopted two dogs who seem to be the complete opposite of their personality but who get along in an excellent way. As the characters and pets meet in a very funny and at the same time tender succession, we get to know the protagonists.

It is a super fun, light, relaxed manga, ideal for clearing your head and getting attached to some of the nicest dogs.

Thank you Kodansha Comics for the ARC I read on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

So cute and so cozy. This is an extremely comforting manga, perfect to read when you’re all cuddled up with a warm drink. Absolutely enjoyed it!

The artstyle is the first thing that drew me in, I love the character design especially the one with the dogs.
I love how they start to meet when their dogs keep bumping into each other, and i love all the love they feel about theit own dogs.
I especially enjoyed the backstory involving their dogs. It was such a cute story but it lacked some development in my opinion, I would have liked to see some more time to develop their friendship.

A story that promises romance and cute dogs … GREAT!

But ack, do you know that feeling when your friend shows you their baby and you have trouble seeing why your friend thinks his baby is the most wonderful and unique thing ever?

It's the feeling I am left with after reading the first volume of ”Pupposites Attract, Vol 1” by Hono Natsuna.

It was a story with scene after scene about humans who adore their dogs, but also had weird and obsessive talks and comments about a woman worrying about her uncontrollable strength? Even the guy was thinking about it.
I have no idea what it was about, nor did the couple click to me so I can cheer on the romance.

The closer you get to the end, the more you get to see the heartwarming aspect (we saw how the female MC met her dog and how it changed her life) but because the story is illogical chronological told, and because the story has four main characters, I felt the story was trying to be a lot of things, but didn't deliver the punch that would make me buy volume two.

I can't sum up my thoughts better than:
What is the story's focus?
What is the story trying to tell me so I can get an idea of where it's heading?
Why do I need to hear four people's (two humans and two dogs) inner thoughts? And now that I think about it, we got the thoughts from a brother too. We are told the story, not shown it.
Is the story just an excuse for drawing cute-looking dogs?

Today as I am writing the review I have no patience for a story that lacks focus. I felt like I was being told the story, not shown it. I don't understand the characters or what journey they are heading for ...

Based on other reviews I am the only one feeling this way, and that's okay.
I just didn't enjoy the story as much as I had hoped, nor do I think I would use time on the next volumes. I'm sorry.
