This is a cute, comfort read with lovely dogs and their adorable humans. This first volume is fine to read on its own. If you want the story to continue, then you will have to wait for volume 2.

The art, especially of the dogs, is so cute.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me access to an eARC!

Chiharu and Kiyotaka both have pets that don't match their image. Chiharu's a bold young woman with a shy rottweiler named Tsubu and Kiyotaka is a shy guy with a bold Pomeranian named Monjuro. When they keep meeting during their walks, a friendship blooms.

This is a cute first manga for someone just getting involved in the scene or a good slice of life palate cleanser to read in between dense series. There's not too much of a plot here, but all the characters, including the pets are fun and adorable. Looking forward to more.

This was so cute!! Really sweet, but at the end of the day i felt like it wasn’t really memorable, i might pick up vol2 if it’s on NetGalley but i probably won’t seek it out

This is literally perfect. The "pupposites" in question are actually perfect complements to each other, and the animal content is well-balanced- enough to enhance and share details about the main characters, but not giving the dogs all the personality and fun panels. I can't wait to read the next one and see Chiharu and Kiyotaka's friendship and romance develop.

Happy release day to Pupposites Attract! Thank you to Netgalley for providing a review copy in exchange for honest feedback.

4.25 Stars!

This adorable slice-of-life manga stars two polar opposites; Chiharu, a determined woman with ample physical strength, and Kiyotaka, a large, sweet man with pushover tendencies. The two begin a casual friendship after their dogs, Chiharu’s gentle Tsubu-chan and Kiyotaka’s energetic Monjuro-chan, meet. The couple quickly become closer as they admire each other's differences in handling daily life.

Hono Natsuna knocked it out of the park with this delightful odd couple perfect for fans of sweet slow burn romances, light comedy hijinks, and anyone who works hard so their dog can have a better life. Of course, I loved every adorable frame of Tsubu-chan and Monjuro-chan! What really drew me in was the story behind how Chiharu bonded with Tsubu-chan and the involvement of her father as an service/rescue dog trainer. I was surprised and charmed by the moments of sincere depth of emotional connection given the levity of the rest of the novel. I'm looking forward to the next book to see the progression of the main relationship and hopefully learn more about how Kiyotaka got Monjuro-chan!

This book is the perfect short, sweet, and funny treat to read while cuddling your pets.

Aw, syrupy sweet! I need volume 2, now!

This is opposites-attract in so many ways! The bodies of human and dog don’t seem to match their personalities (big lugs are shy, bitty ones are friendly), each owner’s dog has the opposite personality to their own, and, of course, the budding romance between the humans, who are so different from one another.

I dearly hope volume 2 has these two clue in and do a date by the end. For a first volume, the pacing of the romance feels great. They JUST met, I don’t need a marriage proposal! But I want to see these two turn into social messes around one another next release!

Now, of course, the art of the dogs is more important than the art of the humans, right? Right! And it’s just cuteness every time. Monjuro the pom is just a happy cloud with feet. They must be a delight to draw, since they’re fairly simple, but also always moving. Tsubu the rotweiler is more complex, but not too energetic, most of the time, so there’s not much action the artist has to conquer. Also, Tsubu has the cutest accessories.

So, yeah, I need volume 2! Snap snap, come on!

Thank you to Netgallery and Kodansha Comics for an early release copy of Pupposites Attract volume one by Hono Natsuna.

Pupposites attract is a cute and sweet romance manga that follows the cute romance between Chiharu and Kiyotaka who both a love their animals, it just so happens that their animals are in completely different from themselves, while Chiharu personality is bold her “scary” Rottweiler is a scaredy-cat, Kiyotaka is shy but his Pomeranian is outgoing.

I really love the art style in here, there a plenty of cute scenes with the dogs and both owners, Some scenes are cutesty and others are more heart-felt, I loved these characters and their dogs, I think all of them have a good dynamic with the characters.I wish we would have gotten just a few more pages with the characters romance but we are getting a second volume in October! I can’t wait to see where their love story goes, the special scenes at the end are adorable! Overall a very sweet and cute romance between animal lovers!

This was a very cute, sweet, and cozy read. This book was such a good read and a quick mood booster. From page one, you are immediately captivated by the characters. Both main characters are simple, like the whole book; however, this is not in a bad way. These characters are sweet and easily likable. They each have traits that make them relatable, especially their love for their dogs. The illustrations are detailed and perfectly encapsulate the vibe of the story. In particular, the details of the pets are expressive, allowing you to understand their thoughts in the moment. I love how there is no insta-love, and the story provides a realistic take on how people actually fall in love, starting with just a slight interest in each other and then sparking into a friendship. I enjoyed seeing the thoughts of the pets throughout the story.

Pupposites Attract 1 is a wonderful fluff masterpiece. The art is good and the dogs are drawn realistically enough that you can tell what breed they are or what they are conveying by body language. It's also lovely to see manga out there with working adults as the main characters while still being wholesome enough that I won't worry about a kid reading this just because it had cute dogs on the cover. If you're looking for a fast-paced Reiwa-energy love story, however, this is not for you (yet). At least they know each other's names, what they do for a living, general personality traits, and that their dogs definitely do get along by the end of this volume. I am looking forward to reading the next.

This manga is so cute!

Chiharu and Kiyotaka are opposites of each other. Chiharu is a small woman but strong-willed. Kiyotaka is big but soft and shy. Even their dogs are the opposite. Tsubu, Chiharu’s dog and her best friend is a rottweiler; he’s adorable and loveable. Monjuro, Kiyotaka’s dog and best friend is a playful and energetic pomeranian.

I loved Chiharu and Kiyotaka’s bond with their dogs; it was adorable. The more Chiharu and Kiyotaka interact, the more they get to know and understand each other. There was a hint of romance between the two owners.

This has to be the most adorable manga I’ve ever read. The artwork is wonderful. It was a delightful read. I can’t wait to read Vol. 2.

I loved every minute of this volume. The contrast between each dog and their owner is hillarious. The artwork for everything but especially the dogs is very adorable. I like their chance encounters that are leading to more interactions. The next volume will be an immediate buy.

This new Josei series is cute! I like the meet cute with the dogs, and I love that the hero and heroine are that polar opposites kind of couple. My biggest complaint with this one would be the shorter chapters. I don't think that did this one any favors. It chopped up the story unnecessarily and pulled me out of the cute things that were happening. I think I'm going to just collect this one digitally rather than physically.

"Pupposites Attract" is an adorable and sweet manga about two doggies and their owners. The whole time I was reading this volume I was thinking about how much I want a puppy (the cuteness is strong in this one). I think our main characters will be so cute as a couple. Hopefully, we will see them confess to each other next volume.

Very story about two dog owners who are very much the opposite of each other (hence the title, of course). A little cheesy, but honestly I didn't mind. I mean come on, it's about two people with cute dogs. Of course it's going to be cute and cheesy!

Small teacher lady with a big dog and a big firefighter man with a tiny dog. Could it get any cuter?!

Pupposites Attract 1 is the first volume in a series essentially about two dog owners who are complete opposites of one another. Despite their opposite situations, Chiharu and Kiyotaka’s frequent run-ins with one another lead them to build a lovely friendship (and maybe a hint of something more..).

This manga was so cute!! I loved this take on “opposites attract”. Both Chiharu and Kiyotaka have lovable personalities. The seeds of a romance between the two has been planted and I’m excited to see where their relationship goes in the next volume. Their dogs are both ADORABLE! I loved getting to see some backstory on how Chiharu and her dog Tsubu-chan met. I hope the backstories of other characters are explored in future volumes!

As with most slice-of-life, the pacing and situations the characters find themselves in are pretty laid-back. Sometimes, this manifests itself into chapters that could be longer. Personally, I didn’t mind the short chapters as it felt like getting small glimpses/updates into the characters life as it progressed naturally. Definitely pick this up if you need a quick read to cheer you up.

“It’s important to know your limits and set boundaries but you shouldn’t forget the little kindnesses, either.” - Chiharu Kagura

✨𝐌𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐈𝐓:
Pupposites Attract is all about the main characters, Chiharu Kagura and Kiyotaka Tsujii, who by chance meet with their dogs, Tsubu-chan and Monjuro, while strolling outside. This was such a heartwarming and comforting read that I didn’t expect. I love how responsible Chiharu and Kiyotaka are as fur parents. As a fur parent of 9 cats, I can totally relate to them. The story shows how much Chiharu and Kiyotaka adore and cherish their dogs. It's charming how Chiharu is a small woman with a huge Rottweiler, and Kiyotaka is a tall man with a tiny dog. The title makes perfect sense now! I also love the parts where we get to see what Tsubu-chan and Monjuro are thinking and how much they love their fur parents. I can't wait to see how their romance unfolds. Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who loves dogs with a touch of romance.
