Very story about two dog owners who are very much the opposite of each other (hence the title, of course). A little cheesy, but honestly I didn't mind. I mean come on, it's about two people with cute dogs. Of course it's going to be cute and cheesy!

Small teacher lady with a big dog and a big firefighter man with a tiny dog. Could it get any cuter?!

Pupposites Attract 1 is the first volume in a series essentially about two dog owners who are complete opposites of one another. Despite their opposite situations, Chiharu and Kiyotaka’s frequent run-ins with one another lead them to build a lovely friendship (and maybe a hint of something more..).

This manga was so cute!! I loved this take on “opposites attract”. Both Chiharu and Kiyotaka have lovable personalities. The seeds of a romance between the two has been planted and I’m excited to see where their relationship goes in the next volume. Their dogs are both ADORABLE! I loved getting to see some backstory on how Chiharu and her dog Tsubu-chan met. I hope the backstories of other characters are explored in future volumes!

As with most slice-of-life, the pacing and situations the characters find themselves in are pretty laid-back. Sometimes, this manifests itself into chapters that could be longer. Personally, I didn’t mind the short chapters as it felt like getting small glimpses/updates into the characters life as it progressed naturally. Definitely pick this up if you need a quick read to cheer you up.

“It’s important to know your limits and set boundaries but you shouldn’t forget the little kindnesses, either.” - Chiharu Kagura

✨𝐌𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐈𝐓:
Pupposites Attract is all about the main characters, Chiharu Kagura and Kiyotaka Tsujii, who by chance meet with their dogs, Tsubu-chan and Monjuro, while strolling outside. This was such a heartwarming and comforting read that I didn’t expect. I love how responsible Chiharu and Kiyotaka are as fur parents. As a fur parent of 9 cats, I can totally relate to them. The story shows how much Chiharu and Kiyotaka adore and cherish their dogs. It's charming how Chiharu is a small woman with a huge Rottweiler, and Kiyotaka is a tall man with a tiny dog. The title makes perfect sense now! I also love the parts where we get to see what Tsubu-chan and Monjuro are thinking and how much they love their fur parents. I can't wait to see how their romance unfolds. Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who loves dogs with a touch of romance.

This slice of life manga felt like the Seinfeld of manga series. (showing my age, but that's ok) It's not the first series that I've read that have a lot of nothing going on, but unfortunately for this one it made the volume a little boring. We didn't really get very much character growth or relationship growth through the volume. It wasn't until the very end that we saw some back story about how the FMC got her dog, but even that was meh. As a set up volume, it doesn't do much. I have no idea if these 2 people are going to just be friends, date, she's gonna help him train his dog because it doesn't have much control over it, I honestly have no clue. It could have been a really cute story, but I think it missed the mark a little bit. Not sure if I'll continue the series after such an underwhelming start.

Thanks to #NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an e-copy of #PuppositesAttract to read and review.

This was exactly what I needed! A very cute and slow read but I loved every second! I love the juxtaposition between our characters and even the perspectives from the dogs was very fun! I want more of this right now.

This was so cute! Chiharu and Kiyotaka are opposites except for their absolute love of their dogs. Despite her tiny stature, Chiharu has strong willpower and is the alpha with her rottweiler, Tusba, while Kiyotaka is a tall sweetheart who lets his pomeranian, Munjuro, control the scene. Seeing them meet and begin to fall for each other showed they have so much potential!

It was such a cozy read with lovely art! I can't wait for more of them as they hopefully recognize and then admit their feelings! It was a great first volume that gave us enough development to feel like it was a full story, but with more to come.

And besides our romantic leads, their dogs were so cute and can't wait for more of them- root your humans on!

So cute and so cozy. This is an extremely comforting manga, perfect to read when you’re all cuddled up with a warm drink. Absolutely enjoyed it!

I love dogs so I gave this 5 stars. The dogs were the star of this manga, Munjuro reminds me of my Coco 😍 There were some issues with this, one being that the chapters were way too short and felt more like quick scenes than chapters in a story. Literally almost all of the first half would have been bonus chapters in any other manga. It seems like the end of it was getting better at that and I do look forward to the next volume! Also I love Kiyotaka!!!!! He really is just like a dog (in a good way? lol)

My daughter is really into Manga stories. It is such a challenge to find stories that are the Manga style but avoid the super adult content that I don’t want her reading yet. She stemmed to enjoy this book. It passed the mom test as well.

This had a really nice art style that I enjoyed. I liked how the two characters were complete opposites and showed even in terms to types of dogs. I liked it gave a bit of backstory for Tsubu and would have liked to see for Monjuro too. I think the chemistry between the two is a little bit off and not really developed yet and think it would benefit of more development there.

This manga was so cute and enjoyable to read.

It consists of short vignettes centered around Kiyotaka, Chiharu, and their dogs. Even though the chapters were short I still felt connected to the characters and felt like the experiences they had were relatable as someone in her late 20's. The dogs were so precious and I the chapter were you were able to see the POV of the dogs.

Loved seeing the moments where the characters start to crush on the other one. Will definitely be reading Vol 2!

Pupposites Attract is exactly what the title proclaims it to be. Both of the main characters have dogs that appear to be very opposite of their personalities. But, their dogs do in fact align with their personalities perfectly! The way the main character first meets reminds me a little bit of the start of 101 Dalamantions. This story is very cute, it's more like a series of connected vignettes stories. I do like that the story does good character development, showing us there's more than meets the eye with both the main couple and their dogs! The art style is also so cute, the artist clearly does an excellent dog drawing dogs.

This adorable manga is the equivalent of the cute videos and Instagram posts you like and share on the Internet with friends or with your partner.

I like the two protagonists and how the polar opposites factor plays out, her having the big and intimidating dog and him having a small size dog. The rottweiler was definitely my favorite and I love how it addresses the stigma of big dogs being dangerous. (I'm also a fan of Nala The Needy Rottie, if you haven't checked out her channel you totally should, especially if you loved Tsubuchan and dogs in general). 🐶❤️

Regarding the romance, nothing really happens yet, but we see a meet cute and how this has the potential to be a really nice and healthy slow burn.

Overall, I like the messages of this manga, from the career confusion in your 20s, which I found very relatable, to how dogs can become anchors in your life and hold you together at the best and worst of times.

I'll definitely keep an eye on the next installments.

It’s really cute! The contrast between the two dog owners is really sweet I just wish there was more to it.

Chiharu is a petite elementary teacher who owns a large yet timid Rottweiler. She has a problem controlling her strength. Kiyotaka is a tall and strong firefighter who adores his small yet energetic Pomeranian. He is shy and tentative. The two meet by accident in the dog park. Then they start to run across one another more frequently.

What I enjoyed the most about this manga: I like how the mangaka shows the natural fear (and prejudice) people show towards Rottweilers. People assume, just by their appearance, they are aggressive and scary. This is untrue! It all depends on the dogs’ upbringing and owner.
I also adore how the dogs’ personalities are opposite of their owners! It is cute how Chiharu and Kiyotaka treat their canine babies, especially Kiyotaka. His entire world revolves around Monjuro.

This manga is so cute and heartwarming! It is a nice change-of-pace for me. The romance between Chiharu and Kiyotaka is slow, which is fine with me. I cannot wait to see how these two canine parents’ relationship evolves. I plan to add this series to my collection. It is a nice series to re-visit for a pick-me-up.
