This book is like spending a cozy day at home wrapped in a blanket while sipping a warm drink: it's the definition of comfort. 🐶 Pupposites Attract is a slice-of-life romance manga about two pet owners who are so very different from their dogs. In this story, we follow two characters: Chiharu, a small but fearless woman with a huge and sweet Rottweiler, and Kiyotaka, a tall but shy man with a cute and energetic Pomeranian. This manga is so adorable, fun, and wholesome. I've only read the first volume, and I'm already itching for more! I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming additions to this series.

I initially picked this up because the book cover and description reminded me of another manga series I loved. If you liked Skip and Loafer or Wotakoi, I highly recommend checking this out! 😍

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very quick and easy read. I love the gradual development between Kiyotaka and Chiharu. It's so cute how they are the epitome of opposites attract. While Kiyotaka is a big, strong firefighter and has a cute, small Pomeranian (Monjuro), Chiharu is a gentle teacher with a Rottweiler (Tsubu-chan). So their encounters are so fun to read about.

I love the art style, there's a perfect balance of values. And the text did not get lost in the art.

Lastly, the anthropomorphism of the pets were not overdone and I found them quite funny.

A cute, lighthearted rom-com about a pair of dog-lovers who grow close thanks to their dogs.

Kiyotaka is a tall firefighter with a tiny Pomeranian while Chiharu is a petite teacher with a Rottweiler. They’re pretty different from each other, and appearances being deceiving is kind of a theme in this book (except for Monjuro, the Pomeranian, who is exactly as she looks). There’s no animosity between the two leads, and they’re all civil adults so nothing really childish or immature happens (so far). It’s just a really sweet, bright, slow romance, and I hope this continues in upcoming volumes!

Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC.

I loved this one! It was cute and fluffy. The art was beautiful. The relationship between the dogs and their owners was too wholesome. What I loved was that the author included Monjuro and Tsubu-chan’s thoughts in one chapter. Happy tears truly. Mojuro being the little firecracker she is and Tsubu-chan being the gentle giant who loves cute things 😭😭 made it so wholesome and fun to read.

An adorable premise - A rottweiler and a petite FMC meet-cute with a tall MMC and a pomerian. The mangaka went all-in on this trope with their names - Monjuro and Tsubu chan.

I loved the art, but the rest of the storyline wasn't intriguing enough for me to pick up Volume 2.

Thanks to Kodansha Comics for having this arc available on NetGalley. All options my own!

Kiyotaka having such a cute small dog like Monjuro and Chiharu having a cute big dog like Tsubu-Chan seems funny.

I love how the dogs thoughts are included too.
Kiyotaka and Chiharu would be so cute together hopefully in volume 2 or 3 they realise their feelings.

Can't wait to read more cuteness.

Thank you for the opportunity to read. This was very sweet, but for me, the thoughts/dialogue was a little stilted/repetitious at times. The compressed file/picture quality hindered my full enjoyment I think.

I loved this, I wanted to read it because there were dogs involved and it was such a cute manga. It was so cute the dogs were always so excited to see each other every single time. If you need a quick read I highly recommend this.

As an owner of a very large dog, I found this manga to be pretty relatable. My malamute attracts alot of attention on walks and I’m constantly meeting fellow dog owners. These two characters are opposites in the sense that the fmc is a strong willed, “small” woman with a large dog and the mmc is a shy, large man with a small dog. It was cute but a little bit boring and I don’t really feel the need to continue the series.

Thanks to Kodansha Comics for having this arc available on NetGalley.

This is such a cute little romance about two working adults who meet each other by happenstance by way of dogs! The two keep running into each other, and the hope is... they will run right into romance.

It's always nice to see manga about adult romance (I like that she's older too!) and the dogs and their very different personalities is so cute, I really enjoyed this soft little 'can't wait for them to realize their budding feelings' book and will keep up with this series for sure.

Thanks to Kodansha and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for review!

A light, easy read for animal lovers. The chemistry between the two leads, the contrast between their dogs, and the reversal of expectations (girl has the big dog, boy has the little dog) is cute and makes for an interesting story. The art is high quality and what I would expect of a manga of this caliber. Recommended for collections browsed by animal lovers and romance lovers alike.

Pupposites Attract
Release Aug 6
Volume 2 release Oct. 8
Looking for a cute wholesome slice of life? This one would be for you! It's a fun cute story about two people who are not only opposite in personalities but the size of their dogs too. Volume 1 hints at some romantic feelings developing later on. We get glimpses of their everyday life, as well as how Chiharu got Tsuba. I like how there is a little overlap in their careers and as their encounters increase, the other starts to come to mind. So it's not one where they just jump into a relationship, but it seems it might grow to be more after building a friendship of sorts.

Personally, I can connect to a point with this manga since we have a bigger dog and everyone around us has smaller ones. 😆 Although I'm weak when they all give me those cute puppy dog eyes. We've watched so many small pups and I will say the manga does a good job at describing the dogs personalities for their size haha. Our big boy is such a push over when it comes to other dogs, thinks he is smaller than he is, and spoiled but he is the sweetest. Everyone is always surprised by his size and color. Then his forever pal (became like family) is small, thinks she is bigger than she is, and knows she is treated like a princess (luckily she never chewed on things that weren't meant for them to chew on)- she is so sweet too 💕
I can't wait to see more of the pups!

Honestly, the book felt like a cup of hot chocolate you'd have while wrapped up in a fluffy blanket on a rainy day - and so that's how I was while I re-read the book.

The characters are so cute and the cover's adorable! This is the fluffiest romance manga I've read. Big guy, small dog & small girl, big dog? (not to mention, everyone's cute??) Give it to me now!!

The title is on spot and I cannot wait to read more about these cuties.

This is such a cute, lighthearted, slice of life manga!

While the main characters of the manga are both very cute, their dogs Monjuro and Tsubu-chan are the real stars. Monjuro as the flapjack octopus was absolutely adorable.

There isn’t much plot development in this volume, but it seems like it’s going to be a slow burn romance so maybe we will see more in future volumes.

THE DOGSSSSSSSSSS SIGHHHH CUTIESSSS

This oh-so-sweet meet cute is your classic opposites attract, except this time they're both die hard dog lovers. Over the top Chiharu is strong willed and personable, with a cutesy calm Rottweiler named Tsubu-chan. Meanwhile super shy (yet large) Kiyotaka absolutely adores his tiny Pomeranian Monjuro. The two manage to keep running into each other on their walks, and eventually their workplaces. It's overall a cute story of two adults finding someone that shares (and understands) their love for their pets. 3/5 stars.
