The Collins' Children's Almanac is a delightful and engaging year-round companion for children, making it the perfect gift for inquisitive minds. This vibrant almanac is packed with a wealth of information, celebrating festivals, world holidays, and special events, ensuring that young readers have something to look forward to every month.
Each month features a comprehensive calendar of events and special days, allowing kids to stay connected with what's happening in the world around them. From nature spotlights to simple gardening tips, the almanac encourages children to engage with the environment throughout the seasons. One of the most interesting activities includes foraging for berries and fruits, with a crucial emphasis on safety—children are reminded not to pick anything they’re not absolutely sure of and to leave enough for the birds and animals that rely on these natural resources.
The inclusion of celestial events invites young stargazers to explore the night sky, fostering a sense of wonder about astronomy. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the upcoming sporting events section, which includes fascinating facts and stats to pique their interest. The almanac also highlights exciting new technology and incredible inventions, ensuring kids stay informed about the latest advancements.
In addition to its educational content, the almanac celebrates the history and traditions of various religious festivals and special days from around the world, promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
What truly sets this almanac apart are the fun activities it offers. With recipes, crafts, and puzzles, children can enjoy hands-on experiences that reinforce their learning and spark creativity.

The 2025 Children's Almanac is a fun take on the usually Almanac, it isn't too full of information that it will bore an kid, but is just enough to keep them interested.
Perfect for a little gift or a stocking filler
The 2025 Children's Almanac is a beautiful, spell binding tracking calendar, which I wish someone made for adults as well. For each month, children will find out what is happening in science, history, nature, astronomy, sports, andante world in general — festival or an international event is highlighted in the calendar, and along with text to help the children understand the topic.
There are also numerous arts and crafts activities that children can do themselves, including spotting birds of the summer or creating a snake out of household items for national snake day.
it is the ideal gift for children ages 8-12.
This is lovely and I think it should be a gift given to every child! Beautiful illustrations, lots of interesting facts and information for each month of the year! I loved it and so did my daughter!
This is a beautifully illustrated book filled with bite-sized, easy-to-understand information with a month-by-month overview of festivals, celebrations, and special events, paired with engaging ideas for every season. The visuals provided are stunning
I really loved this! The illustrations were amazing, I loved the bite sized bits of information and the activities included. A lovely book for children and adults alike who like illustrated children’s books and also informative in the right way
This book took some time to open online but was worth the wait. I think it will be a perfect gift for children as it looks engaging and contains a great deal of information to be absorbed and also acted upon by the reader. The illustrations are bold and modern and I’m sure it will be well received by a child.
I usually love the children’s almanacs and I did thoroughly enjoy looking at all the seasonal activities mentioned in here but somehow felt that it lacked enough ‘almanac facts’. I don’t know what I thought was missing, can’t put my finger quite on it. Still a lovely gift for outdoorsy children (as mine were and still are!) Lots of lovely suggestions of activities for them to do.
The Collins 2025 Children's Almanac is a great small but possibly long read(if read month by month through out 2025),especially for children and younger teenagers.
It's packed full with accessible, easy-to-understand introductions to important dates and events throughout the year, this almanac would serve as a fantastic guide to the world around us for young children.
What I as an adult reader particularly enjoyed was the *Night Sky Diary* sections, a perfect addition for any budding stargazer, offering a comprehensive list of celestial events like super moons and meteor showers. It’s a wonderful tool to help young readers and curious adults connect with the cosmos, encouraging them to look up at the night sky and learn more about our universe.
Overall this is an engaging and educational read that combines fun facts with important learning opportunities—an excellent addition to any young reader's bookshelf!
Thank you Collins kids for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own
2025 Children’s Almanac is a fantastic read for all primary school children, especially key stage 2. It is a month by month guide of festivals, celebrations, special days, activities and ideas of things you could do each month. It features fantastic photographs, illustrations and diagrams alongside the brilliant and accessible information. The 2025 Children’s Almanac would make a perfect Christmas gift, ready for the new year.
This is a month by month book of that leads us through the different events and changes that take place in a year. With an attractive calender for each month, children can keep track and keep a record of what's coming up and what they have experienced already.
The illustration is clear, bright and assists with comprehension. I can certainly recommend as a Christmas present.
I received a free copy of, 2025 Children's Almanac, by Collins Kids, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a great book for kids. Month by month their is fun activities to do holidays to learn about and things to learn about. I really enjoyed this book.
A decent book, that the right reader will be using for twelve whole months – and who can say that about the last book they bought someone? Geared towards the 2025 calendar, as should be obvious, this takes us through the year's celebrations, from New Year's to Christmas, giving us knowledge of all the whys and wherefores, and also tasks for things to do. So we make a basic pinwheel in honour of Jan 26 – International Day of Clean Energy, we celebrate the all-important World Hippo Day, and so on.
Of course, not all days are as forgettable as the International Owl Awareness Day (I mean, how do you make an International Owl more aware, anyway?!), and this clearly works better when it's a long-standing tradition that it's talking about, or when it's related to nature's calendar as a proper olde worlde almanac would be. To that end there are the phases of the moon for every month, and talk of the climate and what the world around us is like. But don't get to thinking this is a heavily detailed, day-by-day thing, for only about five or six days are really looked at in close-up per month, and the book is not light on activities.
It also has to be noted this is a British book for British audiences, and so the nature and eclipses etc won't tally with what some audiences worldwide might be expecting. But the right audience is well served by this, with things to go outside in search of, awareness of other cultural events increased, and a good balance of diverse subjects covered. I did laugh at the stamp on the back demanding we "read me, love me, pass me on" as by then it will be 2026 and this will be much less useful. But you never know, this could have started a healthy annual tradition. I wouldn't be too surprised.
Such an enjoyable, informative book - definitely not just for children! I learnt so much and really enjoyed the short, snappy format.
Jam packed with information - fun facts & trivia, as well as a lot of ethical, sporting and religious events with plenty of other topics spread throughout the book; I found the mix of content very well thought out, definitely something for everyone. There are also plentiful cool activities and simple recipes to try out as well as more information on how you can help the environment for example- all of the content is helpful without being too preachy.
The monthly calendar of events at the start of each chapter/month correlates with some more detailed information in the following pages which was a nice idea.
Each page packed with colourful, engaging illustrations. This is a very easy 5 stars - will certainly be gifting this to some lucky children in the family this Christmas!
Next year’s almanac book from Collins is perfect for all children.
Vibrant illustrations will lead the reader through the year with wonderful, sometimes unknown, days that are celebrated.
We really loved that there were activities we would take part in while reading the book with easy, simple to follow instructions.
A fantastic and fun resource that inspires children and enhances their time management.
Cutely designed as well.
