This book is a cozy, heartwarming read that sweeps you straight into the magic of a snowy Scottish Christmas. Olivia Bingham has had it with dead-end relationships and ghosted messages. So when Fraser, her latest dating app match, goes silent, she decides it’s time to take matters into her own hands and heads to the Highlands to confront him in person.

Naturally, things don’t go as planned—Olivia’s car breaks down, leaving her to trudge the last bit through rain and snow, where she’s hilariously met by Ginger, a cheeky Highland cow, and later by Fraser’s adorable niece Effie and her grandmother. Snowed in at Fraser’s hotel, Olivia is forced to spend more time with him, and as she helps him wrangle holiday guests and pitch in with the work, his grumpy exterior starts to crack, revealing a side of him she hadn’t expected.

The book is packed with charming, quirky characters—Effie is the absolute standout, and Ginger the cow adds plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Fraser’s gruffness mixed with Olivia’s determined spirit brings a sweet grumpy-sunshine energy, and the Highlands in winter is the perfect festive setting. If you’re after a feel-good Christmas escape with just the right touch of romance, Mistletoe Magic in the Highlands is pure holiday joy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria & Aries for the ARC!

Just another brilliant read from Bella Osborne. From the 1st few pages you will be drawn into the chaotic life of Olivia (Liv) Bingham. Trying out the online dating scene, Liv is matched with hunky Fraser, a top hotel chef from the Scottish Highlands. It's been going really well and Liv is so happy when meeting up is on the cards, when disaster strikes, all of a sudden she's ghosted, his profile is gone and all their messages! When her mum and sister argue she needs to get on with life, it's just another failed relationship by another man!! Liv thinks on this and decides she is not going to let him treat her like that and she is going to have it out with him, even if it does mean a 6 hour drive from her home in Blackburn. Her family think she's crazy, it's a week before Christmas, and she is going to drive to the middle of nowhere to meet a man who it seems doesn't want to see Liv.
When the Scottish weather and a puncture force Liv to abandon her car and seek refuge in a run down wreck of an hotel, there's no lights on but Liv is freezing cold and desperate so she explores the hotel.
What follows is a story full of laughs, mystery, an arrest, new friendships and of course love.
A lovely read this Christmas, you won't want to put it down,

I loved the premise of Mistletoe Magic in the Highlands by Bella Osborne, but it didn’t quite capture me as I’d hoped. While the main characters were great, many of the side characters felt unnecessary and didn’t add much to the story. It felt like there was just too much going on, and as a result, the plot fell a bit flat.

Once again, Bella has penned a truly magical book. A heartwarming, christmassy story which has a lovely festive setting.

A very sweet holiday romance novel set in a crumbling hotel in the Scottish Highlands.

After Liv is ghosted on a dating app, she vows to find Fraser Douglas at his restaurant in Scotland and give him a piece of her mind, but a blown tyre and a snowstorm lands her at Frasers’ closed and crumbling family hotel days before Christmas as Fraser prepares to open his new restaurant. Liv is furious with Fraser, and he’s rude, grumpy, but also doesn’t seem to recognize Liv or refuses to acknowledge their shared online relationship ship

An overall very fun read with a sweet and wacky cast of characters. Effie is my favourite person in this universe and she deserves the world. After awhile though the miscommunication was dragging. Liv planned to give him a piece of her mind, but she totally shied away from confronting Fraser,

I liked the premise of this book but overall the love story fell flat. I picked this up expecting a romance. I feel like the people in the book never even started to like each other and then they were kissing under the mistletoe and I was just staring like what is going on? The book did have aspects outside of the romance plot that really increased how much I enjoyed the book. Dolly and the crew from the tearoom brought some fluff to the book I really enjoyed.

Double win in my book……found a new author and loved the rom-com story line. Liv had once again been ghosted, but this time she is mad enough to find him and give him a piece of her mind. Once she finds Fraser at his restaurant in the Highlands thing aren’t quite what she expected. He has no idea who she is, his cousin is loving but a bit too much and let’s not forget the killer Highland Cow. What has she gotten herself into?
The banner is great, a few laugh out loud parts, a little mystery to figure out. A bit love - hate going on between the MCs. A fun clean romance. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own. #MistletoeMagicintheHighlands

This was a fun Christmas time read the banter is amazing but at times I felt like the characters could have used more depth. If you’re looking for a quick fun holiday ready this is a good place to start!

This was interesting.
Admittedly, it took me a long time to read which may have impacted my rating.
I do think it was a bit of a slow story - I don’t think there was anything that really sucked me in.
The characters were average, the story was average

I have nothing bad to say! It was pleasant :)
I’m very happy to have had a happy ending :)

I expected so much more, however this book fell flat for me.

The plot was chaotic, there were scenes that did not seem necessary to plot development and the main tension point was often lost. I found the writing stunted and repetitive with dialogue between characters running so long that I would forget the point of the conversation and have to go back to the beginning.

The setting was also lacking in description, all we know is that the hotel is in a castle. No idea what era or size, or any inkling of the interior.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

Loved every single one of the characters! I do feel like they all connected a bit too fast for my liking, but I guess that’s expected with a book of this length. The pacing felt kind of strange but overall this was a great light happy read!

I absolutely loved this latest from Bella. It was so funny and full of wonderful descriptions of the Scottish landscape together with a festive them what more could I ask for. A perfect read which I am now sorry I've finished it. Always a pleasure to read Bella's books. Bella Osborne is usually one of my go to authors and I was really looking forward to this book. Christmas in the Highlands, whats not to like. but unfortunately this one didn't really do it for me.

I struggled to relate to Olivia and had mixed feelings towards her. Fraser seemed a nice person, when he wasn't being a grump, but when they met I didn't really see any evidence of the spark that was supposed to be between them.

My favourite character, however, was Effie. She was so sweet and I'm glad Olivia was good with her especially when Fraser is so protective of her.

The descriptions of winter in the Highlands was good and I loved the addition of Ginger, the highland cow, some of her antics had me laughing out loud.

An easy Christmas read with grumpy/sunshine vibes.

I have been obsessed with Scotland lately so as soon as I saw the title for this book, I knew I had to read it ASAP. The book covers the week before Christmas and is a story a lot of people can relate to in this day in age of dating! This book is a cute, easy Christmas read. I loved all the characters, especially Ginger the cow! Perfect book to curl up by the fire with this holiday season.

PS I love the cover.

Thank you, Net Galley, the author, and the publisher, for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book, it was just what I needed - funny, warm, easy to read and Christmassy without being overpowering.
I've heard a lot about Bella Osborne books, but this is the first one I've read and I'm not really sure why?!.
It was laugh out loud funny. The story was a bit never going to really happen, but that's the beauty of books.
I liked all of the characters, they were all different and brought a lot to the book.
Definitely a great, light hearted Christmas read, not to be missed!

I would like to thank Netgalley, Aries and Aria and Bella Osborne for the E ARC of this book.
Olivia thinks she has found the man for her, they have been texting using an online dating app and then he is gone, she has been ghosted. This is not the first time it has happened but it will be the last, she is going to take action. With the help of her Mother and Sister she sets off to confront Fraser Douglas.
The drive to the Scottish Highlands takes her longer than she expects and when a tyre puncture stops her in her tracks less than ½ a mile from the hotel he works in, it means she has to walk in the rain and snow. She is then confronted with a highland cow. She is rescued by Effie and her Grandmother, both relatives of Fraser. When she does meets Fraser, he is just as he came across online, and he doesn’t recognise her, why?
Due to the weather Olivia has to spend time at the hotel along with some others who are stranded due to the weather. Fraser says they can stay but everyone has to muck in and help. This is maybe not as successful as he hoped.
Fraser has a big event planned for a couple of days’ time and needs all the help he can get but when his staff resign what is he going to do? Can Olivia help?
A fun read that kept me engaged thorough out. I like Olivia, she had so much to give and really wanted to help. Effie was a delightful character who although a bit naive had a heart of gold. Fraser was a bit grumpy but as you got to know him and his back story you understood why.

No spoilers:

This book is everything you want in a silly holiday story. The silly out there plot reminded me of the movie Holiday in Handcuffs, but the endearing qualities of the town and side characters felt like The Holiday. I love cows and the main draw to this book for me was the cow on the cover. I’m happy to report the highland cow has an active role in this story.

Things I loved:
-The voice of the main character. I felt like she was very relatable and an enjoyable protagonist.
-The endearing and enchanting picture of living in the Highlands
-Great character work when it came to the backstories. The side characters were all so much fun.
-The jokes. This author did a great job of sneaking in really clever jokes that you’d blink and miss if you weren’t keeping up with the banter and running jokes.
-Janet the witch.
-Ginger the Cow

Things that I struggled with:
-I wish the romance had been teased more. We don’t get romantic moment between the two leads until 50-ish% through. While I don’t mind a slow burn, for contemporary romance the romance felt late. More small glances or something would’ve made it feel more satisfying when the leads finally get together. However the author does a great job of making their relationship feel natural. Given that it’s only 300-ish pages, that doesn’t leave much room for them to fall in love.
-while I found interactions with Effie funny and cute, I found myself confused by how old she was supposed to be. Which made it difficult to understand if this is a teen or adult having some of these conversations. It wasn’t a big deal but when more adult things came up it took me out of the story. Is this a 13 year old joking about these things or a 20 year old?

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Bella Osborne's new book reminds of a screwball comedy, something like Bringing Up Baby but not quite as clever. It is very funny though and though I could have wished for nuanced description of my country and its people, the lack of it didn't wind me up. Fraser, Liv and especially Effie are strong characters with real and very distinct personalities. Much of the plot is unnecessary for the story arc but the humour it provides is ideal for a lazy afternoon's reading.

A wonderful feel good festive read just perfect to cuddle up with on an autumn day in the lead up to Christmas!
The perfect glorious wintry setting in Scotland, fabulous diverse eccentric characters, and a slow burning convoluted emerging love story.
Liv and Fraser so totally different in character and the banter between them was hilarious,Livs sunny disposition and Frasers grumpiness put together made for a great storyline that kept me entranced page after page I really didn’t want the book to end!
Add in eccentric Effie and the most lovable highland cow Ginger, snow,Christmas cheer and a slow burning romance you have the perfect recipe for a fantastic five star read!
Thank you NetGalley for this early read
