Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and J M Dalgliesh for the eAudio of Homewrecker.
Narrated by Alison Campbell, Tamsin Kennard

This is a dual POV psychological thriller of a family who has a school age teen, Katie who needs to be homeschooled. In steps Deena a tutor who seems to gel with Katie immediately as well as Sophie's Husband, Scott. First half of the book is mainly from Sophie's POV, which you get a very good sense of who she is and how she is perceiving this new women in the household. Things are not as they seem though and even with the foreshadowing, the twists and the finale are worth the time reading. The other POV is from Deena. Again, Dalgliesh builds some great characteristics and you get a very good sense who Deena is. Or do you?

Really enjoyed this medium paced, well written thriller. As always, I really enjoy listening to both Tasmin Kennard and Alison Campbell as narrators. They have superb voices for these type of thriller

Homewrecker - J M Dalgliesh

ARGHHH this book had me in a TIZZ!!!! I couldn’t figure out which way was up or down!! THE ENDING ALMOST BROKE MY BRAIN!!! This is my kind of psychological thriller.

So when Sophie and Scott have issues with their teenage daughter at school, Scott hires a tutor to keep up her studies at home. Things start to go down hill for Sophie with her mental health and it feels like someone is out to get her or is there?

All the characters had this edge to them. You never know whether to trust or like them but you don’t have any cause to not to trust so it sets you on edge. I love that. When you can feel something up the back of your neck. The book wasn’t as fast paced as I normally like but it gave the book a more sinister undertone.

I loved it. The ending was perfection! This book had me whipped up in a frenzy. If you need a book to get your heart racing… THIS ONE IS IT!

In all honesty, I did not finish the book. I love the narrator. Her voice is perfect for the work, but I only made it through the first quarter of the book before I quit. The book is called Homewrecker, so we know it's coming, but it took so long to get to anything- 25% through and still....nothing. I also found the main character to be unrelatable and a bit unlikable, so I didn't really care about what happened with her.

Thank you for the opportunity to preview.

Very well written story I found myself completely immersed with it. I really liked the main character and even though towards the Middle she started to become an unreliable narrator, I was still fixed on her account of things. Many hidden secrets to be discovered and a great read.

Home Wrecker by J M Dalgliesh and Narrated by Alison Campbell, Tamsin Kennard.
The story is about a family that is struggling with a teen who keeps getting kicked out of school for behavior. So the husband hires a tutor who ends up moving in with the family. Things take a turn and Mom isn't so sure about the intentions of the tutor toward her handsome husband. Also the 12-year-old daughter seems to prefer the tutor to her own mother.
The story is great! And you won't expect what happens. The narration is excellent, with the correct speed and inflection. I highly recommend this book. Very well written and told. I feel I enjoyed the audio version but the written would still give me the same anticipation.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio.

A suspenseful thriller with a big bang ending.

Sophies family life is taken over by a governess, and it goes completely awry in a few days. Rebel daughter, workplace harassment, a husband lusting after the governess, and a governess trying to take her place. Sophie's mental health is also a little precarious, and everyone around her starts using her illness against her.

The ending was surprising, as with many in the genre with red herrings.

The narrator was expressive and did the various voices well.

JM Dalgliesh kept me hooked from the start!
She tells the story of Sophie and Scott, who seem to have everything going for them. A loving marriage, amazing careers, and two beautiful children. As their story unfolds; we learn their daughter is a bit of a trouble maker at school- resulting in her needing a tutor. Queue Deanna, a young and beautiful tutor who comes to the families aid but to everyone’s delight- except Sophie. She thinks Deanna is too comfortable in her home; and way too comfortable with her husband.
As time passes, Sophie begins to lose grip on her home life and balance. Soon things are coming to a head and no one knows what to expect, least of all Sophie.

Kudos to JM Dagliesh for keeping me on the hook and giving me twists I didn’t see coming!

What an incredible psychological thriller and what a wild ride it’s been. So many twist and turns! The character development, the captivating and quite addictive storyline makes for one unputdownable book!

The narrator did a fantastic job bringing this one to life. I loved the unreliableness of the narrator. The characters brought out perfectly each one unique and interesting. Cannot wait to read another by the author and narrator

Home Wrecker by J.M. Dalgliesh was so crazy I did not come close to guessing the ending. If you like gripping, tension-filled, psychological thrillers then you will love this book!!

Sophie and Scott are married with successful careers and have two children Katie and Chas. Katie, her twelve-year-old daughter gets into some trouble at school, and they decide they need to hire a tutor named Deana. It’s not long before Sophie starts to feel like something is wrong and questions whether she made the right choice in hiring Deana. Sophie soon feels that Deanna is making herself a little too comfortable in their home and questions her true motives.

Dalgliesh did such a good job with the storyline and plot. He also wrote about mental health, what it was like for Sophie to feel like she was losing her mind missing out on periods of time and how it affected her family. There were so many twists and turns in this book and that ending was not even close to what I expected. This audiobook kept me hooked and I didn’t want to stop listening. I was mad, confused, suspicious, and flabbergasted lol. Alison Campbell did such a great job narrating all of the parts. I enjoyed her narration. I highly recommend this audiobook. Thank you to Bookoutre and NetGalley for letting me listen to this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinion’s.

This is certainly a tricky one to review as there's very little I can tell you about the plot that won't give you spoilers.

Sophie seems to have the perfect life. A loving husband, 2 beautiful children, a large exclusive home and successful TV career.
That is until her daughter gets in trouble at school and they invite a tutor into their home and things start to go wrong for Sophie bit by bit....

This was a pretty complex plot overall and there were times I was a little confused - but this could be because I was listening to it over a longer period than I'd normally read a physical book.

I loved the way that the author managed to have me feeling a certain way about the characters for the majority of the book and then to completely change my mind towards the ending - there were so many twists that I didn't see coming - even though I suspected some of the events, I had no clue who or why things were happening.

I feel that this disjointedness was maybe done on purpose to create the right atmosphere as Sophie gradually loses grip on reality.

I did like the ending which pulled together all of the different strands of the storyline together perfectly - at this point, so many of the confusing elements from earlier, had made total sense - so I'm definitely thinking the confusion was just me!

A clever and well written story and I'd definitely give this author another read - and the narration was perfection as ever.

💕Thank you to the author and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

I have mixed feelings about this book. The beginning was far too slow and, quite honestly rather boring in terms of the setting up of the storyline about Katie’s expulsion from school, Sophie’s work-life balance, the arrival of Deana to home school Katie and the general domestic set-up. This took so long that I started to lose interest. However, the story picks up about a third of the way in with the description of the decline in Sophie’s mental health and the introduction of Deana’s voice into the narrative. Once this happens, the story becomes far more suspenseful and the escalating sense of jeopardy makes it a very compelling story right up to the end. Readers and listeners have to get over the very boring start however to get to this point. The narration was good in the audiobook but I suspect I might have given up on it if I was reading it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and review the audiobook.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and Netgalley for this advanced readers copy of the audiobook for JM Daigliesh's Homewrecker. I've enjoyed most of the psychological thrillers in the Bookouture catalog that take place in Britain. This one continues that mold. It is very much a psychological thriller, nd as you read (or listen) you need to sort out what is going on, and try to figure out the end game. This one works for that. A mother who is a tv anchor with a daughter who has been suspended from school -and forced into home tutoring. A husband who finds a young, attractive woman tutor to teach the daughter, but also ultimately move into the home's basement apartment. The book uses competing character perspectives for chapters. And as expected, has plenty of twists. Just when you think you understand what is going on, you realize you don't. Enjoyable read.

GALVANIZING tale grips you long before the bona fide REVEAL!!!

Starts with a slow burn. For those who like high stakes and twisty endings, Home Wrecker is a great read!

Sophie has the perfect life or so it appears. But her daughter is having troubles and has been kicked out of school. Now Sophie is sure the tutor they’ve hired is after her husband. Things start disappearing and reappearing and it’s hard to know whats true and what’s just in her head anymore.

This one is a true psychological mystery that will keep you on your toes and thrill you right to the very end. It’s creepy AF but you won’t be able to stop reading /listening.

The narrator of the audio book is perfect never over dramatizing but inputting just the right amount of emotion and suspense and is a voice (and accent) pleasant to the ear.

Highly recommend!

I listened to the audiobook version of this title and I really enjoyed it.
I wasn't sure where it was going or who was the bad person!!
It had lots of twists and turns. I couldn't have guessed the ending - there was a bit too much going on, but I enjoyed it all the same.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Overall I enjoyed listening to the book as a quick read. I could have lived without Deanna’’s point of view seeing how her character turned out at the end. The book is definitely giving Lifetime Movie Network. Some parts seemed predictable and then the ending sped up and took a sharp left.

I’ve seen some hype around this read and was eager to get stuck in but honestly I think I missed the memo. I found it extremely slow paced and predictable an it was missing the intriguing aspect. I found the storyline boring and didn’t really hold my attention. Sophie for me was such an irritating character. The ending was just rushed and unbelievable and really just meh. I’m all for a storyline that’s a little different and stretches the truth but this one just didn’t ring true in any way. Not for me I’m afraid.

This was a good book that kept my attention for the most part. There were times when I feel like it got a little slow, but it did pick back up in the end. I thought I had things figured out, but the ending did catch me by surprise.
