Sophie has what seems on the surface to be a perfect life, but don’t look too deep. She feels she’s playing second fiddle to the dead first wife, her bosses at the tv station find her dress sense grumpy and want a change, her daughter is troubled and about to be expelled from school again and her cleaner has left with no sign of returning. Deanna seems to be the answer to at least one of those issues in her role as homeschool tutor to Katie. However she’s soon got her feet well and truly under the table. Overly friendly with Sophie’s husband and kids she’s soon living in the basement flat on call for anything.
Okay so this has the bones of a good psychological drama especially with Sophie’s blackouts making for unreliable narration. But it really misses the mark for me with its convoluted sub plots, too many unlikeable characters and the most unbelievable twist at the end.

Sophie has a well established career and is working really hard to keep up with everything going on around her - her daughter Katie seems to have suddenly turned a rebel and has been expelled from school for incorrect behavior.
When Deanna enters their life as Katie's tutor everything seems to change - Sophie's whole family seem to be falling in love with Deanna, and she doesnt know why!

Does Deanna want to replace Sophie or is there something more sinister at play? Deanna seems to have everything under control unlike Sophie who seems to be forgetting, misplacing things and almost becoming suicidal!

This book was a perfect example of how gaslighting works, eerie to the core!

I liked it. Don’t let the title fool you…. Dalgliesh has penned a twisty tale that will have you guessing. Things are not always as they seem!
I very much enjoyed the audiobook. The narration is clear, well paced and easy to listen to.

OMG! It’s been quite some time since I devoured a book in less than 24 hours, but Homewrecker was absolutely addictive! I started with the physical book and then switched to the audiobook — and let me tell you, Alison Campbell and Tamsin Kennard are nothing short of INCREDIBLE! Their narration added so much depth to the story; both have such soothing voices, which is surprising given that this is a psychological thriller! They absolutely killed it with the dialogue, making each character come to life in a way that made the experience fully immersive.

This was my first book by J.M. Dalgliesh, and I am already looking forward to diving into more of his work. The writing is sharp, the plot is gripping, and there are two majorly shocking twists that left me reeling. I thought I had it all figured out, but Dalgliesh kept me on my toes the entire time.

I’m honestly surprised and a bit upset that the Goodreads rating is less than 4 stars from early reviewers — this book is engrossing, and the production quality of the audiobook is top-notch. If you’re in the mood to lose some sleep because you just *have* to know what happens next in a psychological thriller about a family in shambles, add this to your TBR immediately! It’s out today, 8/8, and trust me, you don’t want to miss it.

Thank you to Bookouture, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My jaw is still on the floor with this one! I was completely wrong when the twist came and could not imagine the ending any other way. A very good first impression reading a J M Dalgliesh book. I will not hesitate to read another one of his books. Thanks for the opportunity to read this.

Thanks to #NetGalley and BookoutureAudio for the book #Homewrecker by #JMDalgliesh. This book is amazing and the twist ending totally surprised me. Sophie and Scott have a dream life with two children. When their daughter, Katie, starts misbehaving and gets kicked out of school, they hire Deanna to tutor her. But it seems that Deanna is getting a little too close to Scott. Are they having an affair? Why is everything so messed up and I am so confused?

This was my first book by this author, and I'm a new fan! I enjoyed the journey getting to know the characters as the well written plot developed. I was so curious about the connection between Deanna and the other characters. This story was well written as I found myself fully immersed in what was going on and what was going to come. Fully invested, i flew through this book.

Scott and Sophie have the perfect life and home, and they both have successful careers. Their daughter Katie has some struggles in school, so they bring in Deanna as a tutor. Once Deanna enters the house, things get crazy. There were shocking twists and turns throughout, and the ending caught me completely off guard! I thought I knew where the story was headed, but my assumptions were WAY off!

The narrators, Alison Campbell & Tamsin Kennard, did a great job bringing the words to life. I loved both of their voices!

I will definitely be reading more by J M Dalgliesh.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

It was a little slow at first but towards the end I couldn't stop reading. There was so much going on, so many twist. The writing was catchy and I really liked the narrators.

This is a great edge of your seat thriller! I love domestic thrillers, and this one checks all the boxes. Every time you think you know what's going on, believe me, you don't. The author weaves a domestic thriller that looks easy to see through, basic. However, it is not, there is so much playing behind the scenes. Hang in there for the shocking ending.

I really enjoyed this psychological thriller. It was quite far fetched but an enjoyable listen on audio and I was hooked into wanting to know what was going on.

What a great listen/read. A twisty read about a family with an explosion at the end, didn’t see that coming.
When they invite a tutor into their home to work with their daughter it all goes wrong.

Gripping and an intense 5 star read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Sophie and Scott have the perfect life on the outside with two perfect children except for the past year their 12 year old daughter Katie has been getting into trouble at school. This last episode has got her suspended for three weeks so they hire a tutor named Deanna. As time progresses, Sophie starts to forget things; if she went to the grocery store, how to cook a certain meal, and maybe accidentally slipping a secret to little Katie. Who is Deanna? What are her true intentions?

‘Home Wrecker’ left me such an emotional mess. I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. It kind of reminded me of ‘Behind Closed Doors’ until it didn’t. I thought I had this entire book figured out!! It’s been a while when I’ve been shocked by a twist. Was the twist actually believable? Maybe not but who cares!

This was my first book by J.M. Dalgliesh but I definitely will be reading more of his work. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio

This author was new to me and I would definitely add his other works to my TBR list. This story was a psychological thriller that had me guessing for most of the plot. Untangling the messy web of the main characters life was intriguing without being exhausting. The very end was a bit predictable, but overall a great suspense read.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookoture for an ARC of Homewrecker!

While the premise of this book had all the makings of a gripping thriller, it didn't leave enough details or clues throughout the story to make it a page turner.

The middle of the book felt slow, and really didn't pick up until the end. The ending was satisfying albeit predictable.

Overall, an interesting read but nothing to write home about.

Thanks so much to Bookouture for the gifted audiobook!

If you're looking for a quick and easy thriller perfect for fans of Freida Mcfadden, this one is for you! Talk about bingey!

I never wanted to put it down and flew through it in a day!

While some parts were slower than others, it really didn't bother me! I was surprised by the ending and ultimately would recommend to thriller lovers!

3.5 stars rounded up for GR

Thank you to NetGalley for this audio ARC opportunity!

Wow. Thats all I can say here. This was such a ride from the very beginning! I can usually pin point thrillers or plot twists but i was off on this one. It’s always nice when it works out that way!

This is so well written and wraps you in the story immediately. Sophie is being gaslit like no other. I mean the depth of the lies being twisted around her is crazy.

Katie got on my nerves, but she is twelve and wrapped in a family drama far bigger than any child could ever comprehend. Chaz didnt play the biggest role throughout the story, but finding out he helped Sophie in the end was refreshing. He knew what his dad was and wouldn’t leave them alone. Same with Katie. She found out and helped because she knew it was important.

Scott is something else. I was never a huge fan of him. He was controlling and made comments constantly that were not okay.

Deanna surprised me. I was unsure of her, especially after her POV chapters. But they were put in place for a reason and i can understand why. I do wonder howScott didn’t know or recognize her though? Especially with his connection to her sister.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good thriller with a little bit of girl power in the end!

Wow! This story takes a very unexpected turn. I had difficulty connecting with the main character in the beginning. My impression was of a wealthy woman with a total lack of control over her family life, especially her children. Yet, I'm glad I stuck with it because the ending is quite dramatic and justifies the main character's behavior. The author has done a great job laying the foundation for a troubling revelation. Highly recommend!

4 🌟I was absolutely captivated by this one!

The audiobook was phenomenal and the story so gripping. I love a thriller where the suspense and tension is present throughout the whole story and this one delivered! There’s a multi layer mystery going on with the entire family and I really thought I had things figured out at the end buuuuut nope. I definitely did not have everything figured out.

If you want a thriller which makes you feel like you can’t turn the pages fast enough, this one is definitely for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook ARC! All opinions are my own.
