This was my first book by this author, and I'm a new fan! I enjoyed the journey getting to know the characters as the well written plot developed. I was so curious about the connection between Deanna and the other characters. This story was well written as I found myself fully immersed in what was going on and what was going to come. Fully invested, i flew through this book.

Scott and Sophie have the perfect life and home, and they both have successful careers. Their daughter Katie has some struggles in school, so they bring in Deanna as a tutor. Once Deanna enters the house, things get crazy. There were shocking twists and turns throughout, and the ending caught me completely off guard! I thought I knew where the story was headed, but my assumptions were WAY off!

The narrators, Alison Campbell & Tamsin Kennard, did a great job bringing the words to life. I loved both of their voices!

I will definitely be reading more by J M Dalgliesh.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

It was a little slow at first but towards the end I couldn't stop reading. There was so much going on, so many twist. The writing was catchy and I really liked the narrators.

This is a great edge of your seat thriller! I love domestic thrillers, and this one checks all the boxes. Every time you think you know what's going on, believe me, you don't. The author weaves a domestic thriller that looks easy to see through, basic. However, it is not, there is so much playing behind the scenes. Hang in there for the shocking ending.

I really enjoyed this psychological thriller. It was quite far fetched but an enjoyable listen on audio and I was hooked into wanting to know what was going on.

What a great listen/read. A twisty read about a family with an explosion at the end, didn’t see that coming.
When they invite a tutor into their home to work with their daughter it all goes wrong.

Gripping and an intense 5 star read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Sophie and Scott have the perfect life on the outside with two perfect children except for the past year their 12 year old daughter Katie has been getting into trouble at school. This last episode has got her suspended for three weeks so they hire a tutor named Deanna. As time progresses, Sophie starts to forget things; if she went to the grocery store, how to cook a certain meal, and maybe accidentally slipping a secret to little Katie. Who is Deanna? What are her true intentions?

‘Home Wrecker’ left me such an emotional mess. I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. It kind of reminded me of ‘Behind Closed Doors’ until it didn’t. I thought I had this entire book figured out!! It’s been a while when I’ve been shocked by a twist. Was the twist actually believable? Maybe not but who cares!

This was my first book by J.M. Dalgliesh but I definitely will be reading more of his work. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio

This author was new to me and I would definitely add his other works to my TBR list. This story was a psychological thriller that had me guessing for most of the plot. Untangling the messy web of the main characters life was intriguing without being exhausting. The very end was a bit predictable, but overall a great suspense read.

Thank you Netgalley, J M Dalgliesh and Bookouture Audio for the audiobook. A great narration by Alison Campbell and Tamsin Kennard. A thriller that will have you feel like you're going crazy. The twist at the end caught me so off guard but I have to say I loved the ending and how everything tied into each other! Must read or listen to see for yourself!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookoture for an ARC of Homewrecker!

While the premise of this book had all the makings of a gripping thriller, it didn't leave enough details or clues throughout the story to make it a page turner.

The middle of the book felt slow, and really didn't pick up until the end. The ending was satisfying albeit predictable.

Overall, an interesting read but nothing to write home about.

If you're looking for a quick and easy thriller perfect for fans of Freida Mcfadden, this one is for you! Talk about bingey!

I never wanted to put it down and flew through it in a day!

While some parts were slower than others, it really didn't bother me! I was surprised by the ending and ultimately would recommend to thriller lovers!

3.5 stars rounded up for GR

Thank you to NetGalley for this audio ARC opportunity!

Wow. Thats all I can say here. This was such a ride from the very beginning! I can usually pin point thrillers or plot twists but i was off on this one. It’s always nice when it works out that way!

This is so well written and wraps you in the story immediately. Sophie is being gaslit like no other. I mean the depth of the lies being twisted around her is crazy.

Katie got on my nerves, but she is twelve and wrapped in a family drama far bigger than any child could ever comprehend. Chaz didnt play the biggest role throughout the story, but finding out he helped Sophie in the end was refreshing. He knew what his dad was and wouldn’t leave them alone. Same with Katie. She found out and helped because she knew it was important.

Scott is something else. I was never a huge fan of him. He was controlling and made comments constantly that were not okay.

Deanna surprised me. I was unsure of her, especially after her POV chapters. But they were put in place for a reason and i can understand why. I do wonder howScott didn’t know or recognize her though? Especially with his connection to her sister.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good thriller with a little bit of girl power in the end!

Wow! This story takes a very unexpected turn. I had difficulty connecting with the main character in the beginning. My impression was of a wealthy woman with a total lack of control over her family life, especially her children. Yet, I'm glad I stuck with it because the ending is quite dramatic and justifies the main character's behavior. The author has done a great job laying the foundation for a troubling revelation. Highly recommend!

4 🌟I was absolutely captivated by this one!

The audiobook was phenomenal and the story so gripping. I love a thriller where the suspense and tension is present throughout the whole story and this one delivered! There’s a multi layer mystery going on with the entire family and I really thought I had things figured out at the end buuuuut nope. I definitely did not have everything figured out.

If you want a thriller which makes you feel like you can’t turn the pages fast enough, this one is definitely for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook ARC! All opinions are my own.

A mother hires a tutor, Deanna, to help her troubled daughter. But she starts to suspect that Deanna is trying to steal her life, especially when she sees Deanna getting close to her husband and asking about his ex-wife. The mother is determined to protect her family and stop Deanna from ruining her life.

This book was a unique experience. It started off as a typical thriller, but as it progressed, it took me on a wild ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. The ending was particularly surprising and satisfying.

I was truly impressed by the narrator's ability to keep me engaged throughout the story. By the end, I found myself holding my breath, feeling as though I was right there in the midst of the action. The slow build-up of the story was expertly done, leading to a sudden and impactful climax that left me reeling. Overall, a job well done!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for an audiobook ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you Netgalley for my copy.

I liked this book, I felt the need to race through it to see what was happening. I liked the twists, they weren't quite what I was expecting, except one glaringly obvious one, but that was fine.

Happy to read more by Dalgliesh.

Homewrecker was an enjoyable mystery. The plot does get a little confusing about 2/3 of the way into the book. In my opinion the author was trying to keep the reader guessing and had a lot going on that was hard to keep track of.
For me part of this was due to the lack of character development prior to this point of the book. The story to gets complex but everything does get sorted out in the end.

Home wrecker was a fun thriller about a mother who gets a tutor for her daughter. What happens when the woman she let into her home wants to take it from her? Starts a bit slow, but overall, an entertaining read with many twists and turns.

📚 Book Review 📚

Sophie seems to have it all, a great television career, loving husband, two children and a beautiful home in London.

Sophie and Scott are the archetypal, high flying couple who have the insta life, until their daughter Katie’s behaviour deteriorates and she is expelled from her school. In order to preserve her education, they hire a tutor named Deanna. But is Deanna exactly who and what she seems? Sophie starts to question not only Deanna’s position in her home, but soon, she also starts questioning her sanity.

This is a great read, so good in fact, that I listened to this on audiobook as well as reading on my kindle. There are great twists and everything turns upside down about 80% of the way through, which I loved. The actual ending for me was not quite right though, there were aspects which were just a bit bizarre and weren’t realistic, hence the 4⭐️, it was going to be 5⭐️ until that ending.

The audiobook was very well narrated and I enjoyed listening to it. All round though, a great story, unseen events and shockers a plenty!

I’d like to thank Bookouture, Bookouture Audio, NetGalley and the author for the arc and the fantastic opportunity, in exchange for my honest feedback 😊

Audiobook released on 8th August 2024
