This is such an interesting and helpful resource. I am currently learning Spanish and French online, and one of my most common mistakes is remembering the exceptions to the rules. This book explains the rules and gives the exceptions, and the format is easy to use. While I am pretty good at learning languages in general, this is the kind of thing that makes me so much better. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.
Learn & Retain Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French with Spaced Repetition. This is an interesting method for learning languages, and will appeal to many academics. To be honest, I prefer a more practical approach, but I can see the benefits especially for retaining what is learnt. It probably could do with a fast track more simplified option just for dipping into.
Trying to use this book's anki flashcards was initially frustrating. An apparent mismatch between the Adros Verse flashcards and the Anki app made the installation instructions fail. I received a *very* quick response from Adros Verse and resolved my problem. I'll add to this review when I've had a chance to work with it.
I've learned both French and Spanish as foreign languages, and I certainly see the logic in studying the Latin languages together. I also find this book to be very comprehensive and it's easy to look up grammar and basic vocabulary. But herein is the problem, as I prefer a much more practical approach to learning, with everyday language and examples. As for the software, it's too complicated with too many options.

Review coming soon. Had issues with the download.
Great resource for someone like me who is trying to immerse myself more in learning another language. I can’t wait to see how much this helps in my journey. It’s also good that it has 3 other languages if you want to learn those as well.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
Thank you for providing this book. This is really helpful and It has make things easy for me. I am still reading it and loving it. It’s really good in terms of grammar.
As someone with some academic level of training as well as a high level of personal interest in and love for the Romance languages, I am very happy with the explanations and coverage in this book. Tips such as similarities with English is a section that I do not frequently come across in language training books. In terms of the emphasis on the grammar, which I value, this is 4.5 stars. The presentation could have been more engaging though.
I did not sign up to the website mentioned in the beginning of the book and nor watched the YouTube videos. They might be good complimentary materials indeed but, I took value out of this book without going through those steps. I will keep repeating the tips and information in this book to practice these languages. I am a rookie when it comes to Portuguese, and I was glad to come across this title that allows for comparative and connective learning with the other Romance languages. It is handy for those who speak at least one of the languages covered in this book, but it is also good for those who are just starting out in one of these languages. I would say best suited for intermediate level learning to advanced speaking/fluency. Yet there are certainly many aspects that are applicable to the very beginners.
