A short book, a love letter/poem from a mother to her unborn child.
As a mum who always wanted a little girl (and after some struggles, did eventually get my wish), I can relate to this book, however I didn’t gel with all the ideas. Some lines felt very personal to the author’s experience, whereas others referred to the biological side of pregnancy, which I didn’t feel fit in with the overall theme and dreamlike illustrations.
I did like the lines that referred to the emotional element of pregnancy. They were expressed honestly, beautifully describing how it feels having so much love for a child you haven’t met yet and imagining your future together.
Thank you to NetGalley/the publisher/author for this eARC.
I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years, and I dream about the day I get to have a child. This poem spoke to my soul and my love to my future child.
even though it feels a little wrong to rate something like this, i have
this is a short (around 30 pages) poetry book and it was nice. it was quick.
i probably read it within 10 minutes?
i did like some lines:
"Mommy felt the bond you shared,
before you were ever born.
A simple smile on her face, her fulfillment
before your little fingers were formed."
