This is a very cute book with lots of things you can do with your dinosaur. My daughter (5) quite enjoyed some of the silly ideas, and especially enjoyed seeing the dinosaur who was helping the one woman knit (like her mommy). The writing was simple so she was able to read it with me, and the illustrations were cute. The ending left her wanting a bit since it ended with a question, "But what IS it good for mommy?" My son (2) enjoyed pointing and informing us that "Di-SORE!" were on the page, engaging with the book as well. This is a fun silly book that tells you what it says it will and is good for any kiddo who loves dinosaurs. I read this digital book as a gift from the publisher through NetGalley.
My littles thought that this was so funny. Who knew a dinosaur could help out with all those things. The only thing I would add is that it felt that the last couple pages where the story starts talking about the kangaroo, it felt as if the book was maybe a Part 1 or that it should have continued but it didnt. I thought that it was a weird ending and the kids were a little thrown off too. It was just random.
The illustrations are vibrant, entertaining, and go well with the storyline.
I would recommend this.
Thank you NetGalley, Linda Bailey, and Penguin Random House Canada for allowing my family to review.
This was a cute book and something I enjoyed reading for my son. I never know if kids books will work as an ARC, but this worked well.
I think this book was very creative. I loved the illustrations. I do think that some of the for using a dinosaur were not relatable to kids nowadays. For example, kids have very little experience opening cans, using coffee grinders, nutcrackers, or paper shredders. I feel to be more relatable. It should’ve had more examples that kids would like to use a dinosaur for.
Thank you Random House Canada for the ARC opportunity.

This book is ADORABLE! I can picture it during story time and kids loving it. There are several ways to use this book and create lesson plans with it as well. This book is going on my purchase list as soon as it publishes!
This was so adorable. My little loved it and the illustrations were beautiful overall. I think I’m going to have to get our own copy of this. So unique
If You Happen to Have a Dinosaur by Linda Bailey is a delightful, imaginative read that perfectly blends humor with whimsy. Geared towards young readers, this book explores all the quirky and unexpected uses for a pet dinosaur, sparking giggles on every page. It’s a perfect pick for sparking creativity and laughter, proving dinosaurs are anything but extinct in fun! We loved this book and will continue to reread and recommend to everyone!
What a cute book! Love the art. Kids loved it. Reminds me of the when you give a mouse a cookie series. I’d read them more by this author for sure.
I liked this book. The illustrations were fun and cute, and the ideas of what to use a dinosaur for made sense and were funny. The book isn’t really a rhyming book, which threw me off at first because it sounded at the beginning like it might be. Would read this to my kids!
I read this with my 4 year old. It kept his attention, but compared to other dinosaur books, this one just wasn't quite as good. The ending felt weird with bringing up other animals.
This has always been one of the sweetest little Dino books, and was very popular around 10 years ago. Glad to see it's come back, and it still enjoyable in e-book format.
A playful and imaginative read aloud for our dino-loving students! The illustrations are bright and engaging. The scenarios are completely ridiculous. Guaranteed to make your students chuckle!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
This delightful children's book was an instant hit in our household! My 4-year-old was completely captivated from start to finish, begging to read it "just one more time" every time we reached the last page. The vibrant illustrations drew her in and held her attention throughout the story - no small feat for a preschooler!
The pictures were so engaging that she would point out new details during each reading, making every time through the book a fresh experience. Her enthusiastic thumbs up and constant requests for reruns speak volumes about how much this book resonates with its target audience.
This is a perfect book for any dino loving fan out there and even those that aren't. The story is full of ways your dinosaur can be used: babysitter, kite, snow plow, and suggestions on ways not to use your dinosaur (any type of food guarding). The fun scenarios and illustrations will have kids and parents giggling and laughing. The illustrations are colorful and provide a wide variety of dinosaurs performing their jobs. A must purchase for an elementary school, those with young children, or are kids at heart.
This book is very cute! I enjoyed the interesting and detailed illustrations, and I like the silliness of it all:)
"If You Happen to Have a Dinosaur" by Linda Bailey was such a fun read! My students couldn't stop laughing!

What a fun book, sure to be a hit with all your dinosaur lovers! What if they lived with us? They make great can openers and footrests. This silly, bright tale will be enjoyed by younger readers. Great illustrations of the interactions between dinosaurs and their people. Super ending that encourages kids to imagine life with other creatures, as well. Thanks to NetGalley and Tundra for the eArc.
My son loves dinosaurs and he loved when I read this book to him. I highly recommend for other parents, either to read to your kids or get for them to read and add to thier collection
This was literally the most adorable book! I actually read it with my grand-babies (ages 4 and 6) to get their reaction. They were giggling the whole time! There are so many things you can do with your pet dinosaur! When we finished the book, I asked them what their favorite part was. Both said, “When the dinosaur ate the bad grade!” The story ends alluding to another book possibly in the series, but with a kangaroo perhaps? I would recommend this book to friends with young children or grandkids, and also to teachers in lower elementary grades. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
