I received an electronic ARC from Penguin Random House Canada through NetGalley.
Pluto and Joe are back and ready to explore beyond the neighborhood. Joe offers information about the scary creatures they will encounter including witches, trolls and wolves. Readers will be amused by the obvious fairy tale references. After fleeing from each, Joe realizes they may be friendly not wicked.
I appreciate Joe's vulnerability when he admits he may not know everything. We see how far he has come in trusting Pluto. Their friendship continues to grow. The story ends with them setting off in a rocket to trick those coming to take Pluto home. Gilligan continues to bring more discoveries for his characters. Mid-elementary readers will relate to their experiences and understand facing fears and challenges. The light tone will pull them in to explore as well. Brightly colored artwork will hold their interest and is worth exploring.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a funny and fun kids book. I think kids will really enjoy reading this book and will want more books.
