First of all thank you for approving my request!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The authors writing style had me hooked throughout this book.
I didn't want it to end, a book I really couldn't put down.
I was thankful to have recieved an ARC of this book from the publisher. It sounded just up my alley from the description so I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. There was a slight downside however and that this book was number three of a series I have never heard of before so not only was I going into this series at a disadvantage I also had to books of information that I didn't know prior to reading this. That did not stop me from powering through this book however I do feel that reading the first few would have just give me a leg up on some things that I had to learn that hard way. While I do suggest reading the first ones and I think it would have made things a lot clearer and a lot more enjoyable I did enjoy the characters. I found this book to be a little hard to grasp at times the characters were a little all over the place and it didn't have the typical contemporary romance feel that I was expecting from the description. This book is all about main characters Ariel and Caleb who had a romantic past however that is now long gone and everyone has moved on. When the two are suddenly forced to work close together for a work thing the sparks start to fly again. But can this really work out? And do they even want it to? Can old wounds really heal over time? I really liked how the author showed how Ariel's mind was going in many different directions regarding her feelings towards Caleb. Nice strong characters that I loved to root for. Really good read that was nice and simple not to complex but a perfect palate cleanser. This book was a perfect ending and I can't wait to go back and reread this one from the start.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Endgame by Ola Tundun is the third and last in the Roommates series and unfortunately for me, it felt the weakest one. It kind of felt like I lost the Ariella, Caleb and Jasper vibe as technically Jasper was replaced with Dominic and I absolutely could not stand this character.
Compared with the first two books this was more business-orientated and on the side, annoying dramas were happening. I felt I struggled to connect with this one on the same level as the first two.
For me this one felt a bit all over the place, sadly I started to lose my interest around the middle of the book and was desperately waiting for the end.
In the whole series, my favourite character became Caleb. His growth and progression were unbelievable! Yes, there were plenty of dull moments but kind of understandable as he is technically in a completely different world! I loved the development between Caleb and Jasper!
I loved the strong family ethic from Ariella's side!
I loved the ending! It felt like a complete wrap-up and felt finally positive and grown up so this probably helped to wrap up from 3.5 ⭐ to 4 ⭐
Thank you for the copy :)
This is the third book in this series, I’ve not read the others and they can be read as a standalone, but I think you would understand the characters better if you read the others first. This book was ok, the really long chapters put me off though. The tangle of the two main characters romance was interested, but they didn’t make me want to read the first 2 books. It’s a steamy read, but too slow for me. A 3 star read
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
This is book 3 in the series. With that being said, I think you should read the first two before reading this one. There was so much going on that it was hard to understand Ariella and Caleb and just really get to like them. I just felt like I was missing a lot and would like to circle back once I’ve read the first two.
Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and author Ola Tundun for this eARC.
Unfortunately this book/series was not my cup of tea.
When I got this eARC I did not realize it was the third book in a series where each book isn't also a standalone as is in my experience mostly the case in the romance genre. So when I saw that book 1 & 2 are on KU I decided to read all three, so this is not just a review for this book, but the whole Roommates series.
From the very beginning I did not like any of the characters. Everyone was super self-centered, selfish, thoughtless, impulsive and immature. Not one of the characters seemed to have even a shred of normal human decendy or morals and this did not change as the series went on.
The relationship between Aari & Caleb was toxic and lacked communication and there was just SO much (unnecessary) drama!
There was no character developement for either of our MCs in this book yet we're supposed to believe that magically now their relationship is going to work out?! Nope, nope, nope
2.5 stars
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing Co for an ARC of this wonderful story!!
Ariella and Caleb are no longer together as the story opens, and they are trying to navigate being apart. They obviously both still love each other, though. This book is a messy ride as Ariella and Caleb fight their way back to one another. They encounter obstacles every few chapters with scandal, drama, life changes, work challenges, mental health, etc. I read the last three quarters of the book in one evening, un-put-down-able!
This is a worthy read!! I absolutely loved Ariella and Caleb's ending.
"Endgame" concludes Aari and Caleb's winding, messy love story, following their growth and struggles over three books. This emotional finale explores their flawed, human characters and the difficult journey to a healthy relationship, highlighting the need for personal and mutual development. The author, Ola Tundun, builds tension and depth, with realistic portrayals and complex themes that engage readers throughout. The epilogue provides a satisfying glimpse of the hard-won resolutions. Overall, it's a gritty, emotional series that captures the beauty and challenges of love.
I finished this book during ny vacation, and it was the best thing ever. I have been waiting for this final book for so long that once i had it in my hands i was so afraid and scared excited at the same time. Caleb is by far my ultimate book boyfriend and will always be.
Everything started with Roommate, then continued with Complicated and now finished with Endgame.
I have nothing to say besides that this were the greatest books i have ever read. I cried, i laughed and i got angry with every one of the characters in this book, every one of them. And i was so happy to see that Ola did the one thing that I asked het, and that was to protect Caleb’s heart.
If you are into intense drama and romance, amazing friendships, these are you books. If you want a book with me most honest and truthful characters go and read Roommate, Complicated and Endgame. You won’t regret it.
I want to thank @olatundunx for let me be part of this journey. I will always be grateful and these three books will be forever my favourite books in the world
You ever start a book telling yourself you won't get "that into it" and you can start it right before bed because it won't make you stay up past your adult curfew making your way through 40% of the book? Yeah, me either. Except that time I did, I was hooked before I was even 10% into the book.
The love triangle is strong in this one- Aari is torn between a rich man named Dom and her recent ex-boyfriend Caleb who broke her trust. Why, oh why, do I need to feel torn on who the right pick is? The angst, the desire, the love that is felt between these characters is fierce.
Ola Tundun has made a new fan!
Let me start with; don't get spooked by the 2 stars. That's just my opinion about the book. This is the 3rd book in a series, I haven't read the other two so it could well be that that is of influence on how I experienced this book.
For me the story was a bit confusing, there are so much characters that I had some trouble finding out what was happening. There was so much going on, I couldn't keep focused and for me the love triangle made it even worse.
I'm sure there is a big audience out there for this type of books, it just wasn't for me.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Endgame is the perfect ending to Ola Tundun's tumultuous Roommates trilogy!
In Endgame, Aari and Caleb take you through the wringer at every turn, battling their demons, trying to protect each other, and balancing the high-octane influencer lifestyles their jobs require. Long-held secrets about Caleb's success and relationship with Melissa are finally revealed. We learn just how insidious their world's true power players are. Aari is confronted with racism that has influenced so much of her mother's life and Caleb is given a hard lesson on what it means to love a black woman truly. And when you think they've finally found their HAE you realize the book isn't nearly over.....
As said expect these two to wring out every emotion before the trilogy ends.
4/5 stars
3/5 spice.
overall series rating 5/5 stars!
Thank you so much to Storm Publishing for providing me with this ARC for the Endgame by Ola Tundan. The release date is September 20th, 2024.
I did not read any of the other books in the series. However, I figured out what events took place in the previous books, such as how Ariella, the main female character, and Caleb, the male character, often had issues in their relationship. This time finally ends with Ariella moving out. At first, I did not understand why they broke up, but as I continued reading, I found out why.
Ariella is a sweet woman who loves her family and friends. Sometimes her deep love for others clouds her judgment, such as remaining friends with people who may not have the best intentions. I believe this and the fact that Caleb was not open about his past caused them to break up this time. He becomes a little hot-headed when others mistreat Ariella. There are a few side characters that mistreat her. The mistreatment ranges from unwanted attention and prejudice.
Caleb and Ariella being an interracial couple may have also been an issue since her family members often bring up the subject. This is understandable because people are not kind to mixed marriages or relationships. One dramatic scene shows how prejudiced people react to those in interracial relationships. That scene can trigger people when reading it. This book is perfect for those who want a more realistic view of what it is like to be in an interracial relationship. There are more happy moments in the book. I wish there could have been more of those in the middle of the book.
This is the final instalment to Ola Tundun's Roommates Trilogy, building from the cliffhanger at the end of the previous book, Complicated. There was lot going on throughout the book, moving through Ariella and Caleb's relationship as they face bumps in their relationships and professional lives. It would have been good to see some more detail at some points in the plot, but having the dual POV was really insightful to both main characters experiences.
There are some difficult topics that are touched on in this book, so reader discretion is advised . I think it would have been interesting to Ariella's experience in America and Singapore, as a mixed race woman, in more depth as it would have been interesting to develop on events that occured on her visits there.
It was an eventful conclusion to Ariella and Caleb's story - but a satisfying one at that!
3.25 ⭐️
I unfortunately did not get very far into this book. The writing was very forced and I found the dialogue flow so poorly it was almost unreadable for me. I have not read the other books in the series and so did not have a connection to the characters or the setting. Maybe I was missing important context that would have had me identify with the characters more. I am sure that the book is a hit for some, but unfortunately it did not come together for me.
In my opinion Ola Tundun climbs to new and new heights with each subsequent book, as she gets deeper and deeper into the various characters ad their personal struggles. When I started the first book, Ariella was not a character I particularly liked, but as I've gotten to understand her more and more, I find that I have grown to really love her, a mark of a very talented writer.
Caleb continues to be a character I love so much inspite of knowing better! And it was so stressful watching his ass get HUMBLED in Complicated, so seeing the redemption journey he goes on in Endgame was so heartwarming and special.
Ari's parents continue to be the absolute BEST, and Lara continues to be a right blood laugh!
I think this is supposed to be the last book in the series, but I am so excited to see what Ola Tundun does next :)
Thank you so much to Storm Publishing for providing me with this ARC. This book is due to be released on September 20th, 2024.
I am typically a big fan of books published by Storm Publishing but this one fell short. Right from the first few chapters, I knew this one was not going to be an all-time favorite but I still had hoped for it to be a 3 to 4-star read.....by the midway point, I lost all of my hope. This book was all over the place and lacked a cohesive flow. The plotline and overall story just didn't blend well. The way the author jumped around was just confusing. I also found the main characters hard to root for.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this one. 2 stars and that is being generous. I almost feel like I've read a completely different story than the other reviews I'm seeing.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 installments of Caleb and Ariella's lives this fell a little short for me with the focus being a little muddy and with a lot of workplace detail that didn't add to the story slowing things down.
The complexity of the relationship between the 2 and the third wheel of the love triangle still influencing their lives was well written but somewhat lost in the overall plot.
*Endgame* by Ola Tundun had some intense moments but didn't fully deliver the emotional depth I hoped for. Ariella and Caleb's dynamic is fierce, and I appreciated how their past wounds were explored. The tension between them felt genuine, and the stakes were high, with Ariella's career hanging in the balance.
However, while the plot had potential, it sometimes felt like it needed to be trying to do more at once. The push and pull between them became repetitive, and I wanted more resolution and growth from both characters. The ending wrapped things up satisfactorily, but it took a while to get there, and I wasn't as emotionally invested as I wanted to be.
Overall, it's a decent conclusion to their story, but it left me wanting more depth and connection.
This wasn’t it for me unfortunately. I was confused at the beginning about who the MMC was and then the FMC kept making me think she wasn’t into the MMC anymore even though it was dual POV of both of them.
The history between them was vague and it got too bogged down in the work descriptions.
