This book kept me guessing in the sense that I kept wondering where it was going. It was fairly interesting when it got there, so that's a plus. I didn't really feel connected to the characters, but the suspense was there. It's a twisty, kind of odd read if you're in the mood for that.

I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

I really enjoyed this story and never saw the ending twist coming. I found it a good pace and charecter development.

The Personal Assistant by Becki Willis.
This was a good read. It was slow to start off. But once Jack comes in I can't put it down. I do like how he wants to protect Lexi. I wasn't sure how I felt about Lexi at first but she grew on me. Lillian I didn't trust at all. Omg. Talk about double red herrings. I certainly didn't see that coming. My jaw was on the floor. I did like the ending

Lexi is having a rough day. Her purse was stolen and she was fired from her job. Her luck changes when she is offered a j0b as a personal assistant to a billionaire businesswoman, Lillian. Things are a bit odd. Firstly, Lillian is paying Lexi an absurd amount of money to basically do nothing. And she sends Lexi on really random errands, such as volunteering on her behalf at a children's hospital. As time goes on, Lexi begins questioning who her boss really is and whether she might be dangerous.

This was a quick and interesting read. I found the plot line fairly unique. there were some good twists and turns, especially the final one. There are definitely some pretty disturbing parts in this one. I initially wondered how some parts were going to take shape/work into the plot, but the author did a great job at making everything come together at the end.

I really liked Becki Willis' writing style. You can tell that this was a well thought out plot - carefully crafted and full of clever twists. Look forward to more reads by Becki!

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, Becki Willis and Joffe Books for an ARC of this psychological thriller.

I was very eager to read this; however, quickly found that it is not worth the hype. The beginning was very slow and took some time to get invested in. I found that the two plots almost didn’t correlate whatsoever and found it somewhat confusing once it did come together. The replace between the two main characters felt “tossed in.” Overall, it was a quick read, but I didn’t love it. 3 stars for “meh.”

There's a saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That's where protagonist Lexi finds herself after receiving a job offer that she feels she would be an idiot not to take. Unfortunately though things are not quite as they seem as her new boss begins to act peculiar and assign her very bizarre tasks. As Lexi continues to keep up with her boss's strange demands, she uncovers some pretty unsettling things that lead her into a rollercoaster of events that will keep you guessing about what's really going on.

This was fun and very psychological mystery and I actually really enjoyed the fast pacing of it, though it was a bit slow at the beginning. I didn't quite love heroine Lexi though, as she seemed almost too trusting to me, but I enjoyed all the side characters and the dynamics between them all. The ending was satisfying as well and I appreciate all the twists and turns it took to get there.

3.5/5 ⭐

Review for 'The Personal Assistant' by Becki Willis.

OMG!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! WHAT HAVE I JUST READ!?!?!? Becki Willis Where On Earth have you been my whole life?! You are an absolute writing legend!!!

This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all feeling the hairs raise on their arms and feeling their heart pounding. This title, cover and synopsis suited it perfectly along with the cover and synopsis.

This book has got to be the most heart racing books I've read I a long time, of not ever!!! It had be hook, line and sinker from the first page and I could not put it down!!! Every time I said one more chapter it ended on a cliff-hanger and I just had to know what was going on!!! If you are going to read this then clear your day because it is truly unputdownable. I started this this morning and finished it at 2am reading it in one sitting and although I'm knackered today it was 1000000% worth it!!! The storyline is unique and scarily very realistic and thanks to Becki's absolutely fantastic vivid descriptions you can see and feel everything that is going on as it comes to life throughout every single page. Becki does an absolutely fantastic job of showing the story through the perspective of multiple protagonists while weaving their chapters perfectly together at just the right times ensuring there is no confusion for the reader. When it came to the end I was completely shocked which is a huge achievement as I've read so many books so it is harder and harder to shock me so another HUGE congratulations Becki!!! The storyline is gripping, addictive and intense and is ram packed with mystery, suspense, tension, stalking, twists, shocks and absolutely everything that you could ask for in a non stop action packed psychological thriller!!! My heart was in my throat and I was on the edge of my seat throughout reading this. I was completely invested in the storyline and it will stay with me for a long time. The ending was was absolutely jaw dropping and so unexpected. This book would make a fantastic movie that I would be the first in line to watch. An absolutely huge success by Becki Willis and i cannot wait to read more of her books!!! If the rest of her books are even half as good as this one they are still guaranteed to be absolute page turners and the moment I have finished typing this up I am off to add the rest of her books to my Amazon Wishlist and Goodreads to be read lists!!

All the characters were realistic, well developed and had strong characteristics and personalities.. It is really hard to say how I feel about the characters without giving too much away. Thanks to Becki's incredible and evocative writing skills each and every single one of the characters came to life and she ensures you feel absolutely everything that they were feeling and seeing everything that is going on around them. Regardless of how you feel about the characters each and every one of them work perfectly together to create an unputdownable book with some explosive twists!!

I did absolutely NOT expect that humongous bombshell at all. What an absolute twist!!! I can hand on my heart say that I cannot remember when I was so gobsmacked by a book twist but Becki you have done just that!!! This book is rammed with suspense and tension and will keep you biting your nails, on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding while your flipping the pages because you just cant stop!!

If you read one book on your life, make sure it is this!!!! I would love to see this turned into a movie and Becki I really hope you are working on your next psychological thriller at this moment because this book will go far!!! In the meantime I am off to read more of your books!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on what promises to be a MASSIVE success!!!

Overall an absolutely heart racing, nail biting, unputdownable psychological thriller with several bombshells you will not see coming!!!

Well written interesting novel. However there were huge plot holes and to many "stories" happening. The book needs to be edited as there's too many side stories. The Milkman chapters also did not need to be included. Would've scored higher if it was edited to a couple of stories running along side each other

The Personal Assistant was my first venture into a book by Willis and I can safely say it's not going to be my last.

I found it a fairly quick read and devoured it in a few hours. Whilst it's slow in starting, the suspense begins to build and the pace quickens as we head towards the penultimate pages and the final sting in the tail...I wasn't expecting that, were you?

It comes complete with a medley of characters, Lexi and Jack being the main two. Sadly I was unable to form any emotional bonds with either of them, but their banter more than made up for that!

Just remember if something sounds to good to be true...then it probably is!

This was such a good quick thriller! I loved the twist and turns and everything coming together in this book! I’m not a romance reader, but the ending of this book definitely sealed the deal for me!
Thank you so much NetGalley for the advance reader copy!!

They say bad things come in threes, and for Lexi, that’s certainly true. After losing her phone, having her purse stolen, and getting fired, her life seems to be falling apart. But when she’s offered a lifeline – a job as a personal assistant to the millionaire businesswoman Mrs Lilian Sampson – things are looking up. However, it doesn’t take Lexi long to realise something isn’t quite right about Lilian or the company she inherited from her late husband. As the story unravels you’ll be kept on the edge of your seat.

The Personal Assistant is a fast paced psychological thriller, with suspense and intrigue. This was my first Becki Willis book, and I was hooked by her engaging writing style. The plot was innovative, with plenty going on, and I didn’t find it predictable at all. While I was initially taken aback by the secondary storyline (when you read it – you’ll know), it ended up adding another dimension the plot of which the psychology behind was intriguing.

The majority of the characters are well-developed, with Lexi standing out as a strong, likeable female protagonist. It’s easy to root for her as she navigates the twists which this book has to offer. There were one or two secondary characters who I felt could have been fleshed out more to help us better understand them.

Overall, the twists throughout the novel keep you gripped, and the ending was completely unpredictable I didn’t see it coming and genuinely felt my jaw drop! This is a perfect read for fans of psychological thrillers. 4/5 stars.

I found this book an ok read, not a gripping read but did finish it. Lexi is a nice character whose father as a con man. The plot though was too unrealistic for me.

Twists and turns there may be but I found this hard to stick with. The pace isn’t quite right and it isn’t tied up well enough in the end.

In my opinion the romance was written awfully and the book would be much better without it.

This was my first read by Willis and now that I know there are 3 other books in this Addictive Psychological Thrillers series that came out in 2023, I will have to go back and read them all!

What I liked most was the strong female lead, Lexi, who starts out with a really, very bad, horrible, no good, day, and winds up with a high paying/low work job based on a recommendation from her previous boss. But you know what they say - if it seems too good to be true...

Lexi is one badass woman who has been able to take her former life of crime and turn it around, even to the point of discovering her empathy for orphaned and hospitalized children, a "voluntary" task her very volatile boss gives her to do in her place. But there are too many coincidences in her new job that are raising red flags for her, and her spidey sense is giving her all the warning signs. This is a wild rollercoaster ride that will have you finishing the book in one sitting!

Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this advance reader's copy!

A nicely twisty thriller about Lexi, who is trying to build a new life away from her family but finds herself in a web woven by Lillian, who isn't entirely what she seems. This is a bit unrealistic in parts and the romance is a tad icky but it is a page turner. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

it took me a while too get into this book and after the interview with sam and what was said you can kinda see where the stories going but thats what kept me reading because i wanted to know if i was right and how it was all going too come about - I like lexi she has a history but shes not going too let her past define who she is i also like jack because he sticks by and wants too help lexi once secrets start too come out. Their relationship also is what kept me reading.

Lexi comes from a rough background and her father, a con man, is currently in jail. She thinks that she has pulled her life together when the bottom suddenly falls out. She is offered a job with Lillian, a millionaire who hires Lexi as a personal assistant. Lillian grows quite strange and there may be a connection with Lexi's father.
Enter a man that Lexi begins to have a relationship with. It did strike me as strange that she reveals sensitive information to him as she is in the midst of a situation where she can't trust those around her. I also felt that the romance subtracted some of the suspense in the book.

That being said it is a fast moving book
