I love the premises of the book: a family get together in a remote island to discuss how the money from the sale of the family business will be split. 3 siblings, all with secrets.

Thought I found the narrative chaotic, and I couldn’t understand why Zoe didnt have signal, but Myra and Aseem were able to be on their laptop, checking up on Gave. Also Zoe’s agent had told her to block all negative people, she claimed to only make the mistake of not listens to the advice once, but she doesn’t block the stalker? I just couldn’t get around these 2 contradictions.

A good thriller full of a host of unpleasant characters, all with their own agendas. All the members of the Agarwal family are assembled at oldest daughter, Myra's Scottish island retreat for a family celebration and, they think, to find out how their inheritance in the family business will be shared.
It's not long before family tensions and acrimony rear their heads -although by the end of the book all are united in protecting the family at all odds. Hard to say more without revealing spoilers - there is a murder, but that's clear from the book's advertising blurb - but it's a while before that happens and you're left guessing for quite some time as to who might be murdered and why. At the heart of the novel is the exploration of the family and their interactions rather than it being a who dunnit or anything of that type. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I found this very slow and doesn't pick up until chapter 52 but even then I found it predictable. I did like it but wouldn't read it again.

Thank you Trisha Sakhecha, Random House cornerstone and Netgalley for the ARC

A great read that is an insight into a powerful and rich Indian family. Myra owns a remote Scottish Island that she is developing into a luxury resort. The family are all visiting to celebrate their parents wedding anniversary. Her brother Aseem and his English wife Zoe and their sister Aisha are particularly looking forward to this gathering as they expect their father to announce his retirement from his business and divide his wealth amongst his children. As the visit continues, it becomes apparent the outwardly happy family are hiding secrets and some are lying. Past tensions and tragedies threaten to overshadow the celebrations and as shocks and accusations abound, will this family survive? We know from the start that someone dies, but who? And how? A story of a devoted but flawed family and how money is the root of all evil. An excellent book that has some great characters, it flows well and has many twists, turns and shocking revelations.

A wealthy Indian family takes a holiday on a Scottish island on a lake, which is owned by one of the daughters. Told from dual viewpoints, we learn that all of the characters have secrets, and a toxic, decayed air begins to permeate. Early on, the reader is aware that someone key to the story has died but we don't know who until the end. The identity of the victim comes as a surprise, especially as their chapters are all written in the present tense.
I love a good thriller but did not find this as riveting as I had hoped. Some will love it but I was disappointed. Not for me.

A really good read, well written and riveting. From the outset you know someone has been killed but until near the end you do not know who. There are some good twists. I liked that the book was written from the different points of view of certain family members. Despite their wealth and lifestyle this is not a family you would wish to become involved with as there lies at their midst a dangerous dynamic.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review and to the author for a very good piece of work.

A family reunion in a remote setting, secrets, toxic relationships... the basic formula itself presents nothing new, but I can never turn my back on such a tempting premise. The result isn’t always the same, but "The Inheritance" was one of the most compelling books I've read in a while.
There's a murder, but for most of the book, you don't know who's actually been murdered. The author uses different POVs to dissect each character to a very satisfying level, and as secrets are gradually revealed, the tension builds up masterfully until the much-awaited climax. It all wraps up so nicely, and the characters are so well-developed that there are no unanswered questions.
A compulsive read, utterly gripping, and a masterclass in the genre!

I found, I kept waiting for the murder and there was a good build up. Each time I thought this is the time of the murder, it wasn't. Kept me glued. Great twists right up until the very end...

I have to say this book wasn’t for me. I read about half of it and then gave up. I couldn’t get into the story or identify with the characters. It is a well written book and I am sure other people will love it but it just wasn’t for me.

The wealthy Agarwal family meet in eldest sister Myra's deserted Scottish to celebrate the parents' anniversary, and the retirement of their father. We learn that this seemingly perfect family are hiding a tragic past, and each member has their own secret that their keeping from the family.

What a brilliant book! So many twists and turns all the way through. The backstory on the suffocating family dynamic is really well written, and the final reveal of what happens is shocking but not completely out of left field. This book is perfect for those who like a good mystery story set on a deserted island, you'll be hooked!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC of this book.

This was absolutely everything I wanted it to be! A mega rich family, an uninhabited Scottish island, a storm, a murder! Family secrets, love, revenge, guilt! Money!!

You could want for nothing more with this book. It does exactly what it says. It’s all about inheritance….

Brilliantly done!

I finished the book in one sitting and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. I didn't see the twists coming, and the ending is one of the ones that stays with you long after finishing the book.
I can't tell much without spoilers but my god, this was not what I was expecting, I loved it and hated it at the same time. It was amazing, I'm going to read more books by Trisha for sure.

The Agarwals meet on Myra's Scottish Island to celebrate their parents 40th Wedding Anniversary, where the three offspring expect news of the sale of their father's company and their share of the inheritance.

For anyone looking in, they would think this is the perfect family, all supportive and looking out for each other, but they all hold their own secrets, some more deadly than others. Will their greed cloud their judgement and who will come out on top.

This is a locked room mystery, with a difference, it's a well written book that kept me reading, even without the huge suspense, it's about family dynamics and the lengths families go to protect their own and their secrets, all while being engaging and raw.

I wouldn't say the family are particularly likeable and as a thriller, it's not edge of your seat, but there is something about the clever way this is written that teases out the story, and really made me enjoy this book.

It's not very often that a book knocks me for six and completely blindsides me. This novel did that and much more.
The Agawal family have descended on a remote Scottish Island to celebrate the anniversary of Mama and Papa. But also to decide how Papa is going to divide the inheritance when his business is sold.
Son Aseem has been overseeing everything so expects a bigger share than his sisters. He's there with his wife Zoë who has her own reason for wanting the money.
Older sister Myra, owns the island, and is investing a lot of money to make it a successful retreat, money she hasn't got. And youngest sister Aisha, the baby of the family, well she just treats the week like one big holiday as per her view on life.
By the end of the stay, the families life's will be changed forever.
The family were truly dysfunctional, they were all great characters but all unlikeable in their own way. I felt for Zoë at times as she was the outsider who married in and never truly felt welcome
I could definitely imagine this as a TV series. It gives off Succession vibes, a family who dislike each other but also hates anyone coming between them.
A fabulous read
I will leave my review on Goodreads, Storygraph and Bookmory now and on Amazon and Waterstones on publication day

Love, control, greed - this book had them all! We know there has been a murder from the start of the book but who is the victim and what is the motive? An intricately woven web of deceit, with lots of potential murderers and a multitude of twists and turns. Watch out for this book - it's a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for letting me read The Inheritance by Trisha Sakhlecha. What a page turner, I was captured from the first page. With so many twists and turns you are kept guessing until the last page. Worthy 5 star read.

This was not my normal read but what a fabulous one it turned out to be. A family with secrets and grudges bubbling below the surface while on the face of it happily coming together for celebrations. All of them hoping for a cut of their fathers millions as he decides to retire. But all is not as it seems and bitterness begins to show and the the truth is exposed. A page turner that I couldn't put down, with a twist at the end. Loved it!

Family dynamics are often upset when someone is writing or updating a will and the eager potential gift receivers line up ready to do what it takes to reserve their share. Always, however, it’s not as easy and straightforward as it appears with each party vying to suggest they have reasons to take a larger slice of the pie and as soon as possible. This excellent story understands the people involved, the many reasons for their own point of view and of course, there’s always a spanner in the works when it’s a novel. The writer then adds confusion by basing this within a very rich family, who may not be as rich as they hope, and mixes in Indian and British cultures to divide and rule. Can the mother and father remain in control? When this outline is set on a remote Scottish island where there appears to be an uninvited guest roaming the woods, trouble will arrive. Trisha Sakhlecha develops an excellent story; I can’t see how she will follow up this as a series, but I’ll be there soon to read her two previous thrillers.

Zoe and Asheem are heading to the remote Scottish island that Asheem's older sister Myra bought to renovate and live on. Their parents and younger sister Aisha are also on their way. They are all prepared to celebrate their parents 40th wedding anniversary. Although the children have other reasons for being there. They are waiting for their father to announce his retirement and the sale of his company, leaving the children the money from the sale. All three of them are desperate for that money for different reasons. But when their father make a surprise announcement, it leaves them spiralling. Tensions rise, arguments start and lines are drawn. But then someone dies...

This was incredibly slow to start with, and it felt like it was no more than a family drama. I thought about giving up with it, as I'm not interested in that kind of story. However, I'm glad I continued because it ended up becoming about a murder. Although, I felt like there could have been more about that, as even with that, it still focused mostly on the dynamics of this family. The twist at the end was the only reason this became a 4* review rather than a 3*
