Lots of twist and turns in this storyline it makes you wonder who the real villain of the story is there are so many possibilities
Good listen
This was definitely an interesting book. The daughter in this book was crazy and the mom wasn’t far off. I liked how the point of view went back and forth between the mom and the daughter. It was nice to see both perspectives.
Reading My Daughter’s Revenge, you just kind of mosey along until about three quarters through. When you get to the big twist you will be floored! I love that sort of reveal. I enjoyed the mother-daughter POVs and the fact that the characters were intentionally not like-able. I’m certainly going to look at other Simmonds books now that I’m done with this one.
Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture Audio and Natali Simmonds for the Audio Arc of My Daughter's Revenge
Narrated by Izzy Meikle-Small, Claire Storey.
My Daughter's Revenge is a medium/fast psychological domestic thriller from 2 female POV. Mother Jules and Daughter, Leah. What drew me through this book was the dynamics between the family members and the obvious indignation of the daughter and how she is treated. Even though I wasn't keen on these two characters, I hugely empathised with them both. The Mother who was overprotective but felt invisible and the daughter who felt suffocated. The plot line and the direction this book took was compelling and some nice twists occurred, with a great satisfying payoff at the end.
Narrated by Izzy Meikle-Small, Claire Storey, these two ladies did a great job with both the POV of the Mother and Daughter, but also the male voices of the other characters,
4.5 stars for Storygraph, rounded to 5 for Amazon, Goodreads and Netgalley
This novel had a great premise and SO much potential. Unfortunately, it ended up being entirely too slow to get going and extremely repetitive. The cast of characters was incredibly unlikable and had zero redeeming qualities; in fact they all came across as immature, selfish and whiny. Don't even get me started on the lack of communication between these people and the plot holes in the story... so frustrating. The narrators did a fine job with these characters and the ending was great, but it wasn't enough for me to love it.
Who would have thought "My Daughter's Revenge" would captivate me so thoroughly? As someone who judges books by their covers, I fell in love with this stunning one, and boy, was it worth it! With its gripping mother-daughter thriller premise and rave reviews, I didn't hesitate to dive in.
The story alternates between the perspectives of Jules, the mother, and her almost 17-year-old daughter, Leah. Their tumultuous relationship, Leah's enigmatic nature, and the mounting tension in the plot kept me hooked from the get-go.
Opting for the audiobook was a clever choice, as it heightened the suspenseful moments, keeping me glued to my seat and bracing for the worst. Trust me, it only gets more intense! After experiencing all the drama, I couldn't help but be grateful for having a son instead of a daughter.
The author's writing style is so gripping that I found it impossible to put the book down. Plus, it's on Kindle Unlimited! This is a book you don't want to miss. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading her previous book, "Good Girls Die Last."

I think I have a new favourite author! Within minutes of this narration I knew it was something special and I was not disappointed!
At one point in this story one of the characters proclaims 'Busted' and anyone familiar with this band will recognise that one of their bigger hits is utterly on the money for a theme song for this book!!
The story is about a family having their fair share of problems - In her late 40s, mum Jules is finding that despite her best efforts, husband Adam is rejecting her sexual advances, leaving Jules feeling old and unattractive. Jules finds that her close relationship with 21 year old son Rhys is becoming more distant, while 16 year old Leah is really only interested in connecting with Jules when she needs something! A large part of the story is narrated through Jules - her story is riveting, her life every bit as interesting as her daughter (and that is really saying something!). I dont want to say too much about Leah's story so as not to give spoilers, but I can safely say that the story starts on the back of Leah having got herself into trouble over a seeming obsession with an older boy....what happens next is utterly mind-blowing.
It has been a while since I have found an audiobook this gripping. The writing is superb, the plot is explosive and the actresses that play Jules and Leah do a fantastic job in bringing this story to life. I 100% recommend this cracking psychological thriller!
My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Firstly the dual narration for this audio book was really well done and made this book! This is my first book by the author and was drawn to this by the title and this did not disappoint, it's fast paced and entertaining and perfect for physiological thriller lovers! I was engaged through out and dying to know what happens next. I gave this 4.5 on storygraph but rounded up to 5 stars for my review here. I will definitely be checking out more by the author in the future. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this audio arc.
Holy crap!!!! I might have whiplash from all the twists and the turns in this book. My head is still spinning and I will probably have quite the book hangover. The story seems to move along kind of slow and then you get your first shock and then it just keeps speeding down the rails. The narrators did a good job, This story is set in the UK if I understood right, but the accent is not one that kept me from listening at my usual 2x the speed. I quite enjoyed this story and will definitely recommend it to everyone. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to this psycho book!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC in audiobook format.

This audiobook is a must-listen /read for fans of psychological thrillers.
3.5* for a good, twisty ending… This story, primarily about a complicated mother/daughter relationship was captivating at the start, but definitely was a bit of a slow burn if you’re looking for nonstop action in your revenge drama genre. The characters aren’t especially likable, but that’s to be expected from the start. I found it enjoyable to listen to the two narrators…they kept it flowing and enticing.
There was a bit too much detail in the sexual realm for my taste…we got the message. It almost had a YA vibe, but I give it props for an unexpected ending!
I’m intrigued enough to look into more by Simmonds.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC. All opinions are mine.
Wow I absolutely devoured this audio.
The author was new to me and didn’t disappoint me in any way. This audio was so fast paced, full of juicy twists and turns, thoroughly enjoyable and what an ending. Didn’t see that coming ! Fantastic !
The characters were so real and it was easy listening
Highly recommended for its originality and twists
I can’t wait to read more books from this author
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre
This book blew me away and gets a solid 5 stars! I loved the many twists and the build up to the shocking end.
I definitely will be reading more books by Natalie Simmonds!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this fantastic read!
I'm not sure what to say about this book. I liked parts of it and disliked the other parts. The premise is great! Maybe I shouldn't have read the summary because it made it sound like it was going to go in a completely different direction than it actually did. I found the two many characters to be so unlikeable. I don't feel like they had any redeeming qualities. I've read books with unlikable characters before, but some of the choices made by these two characters, made me cringe.
The book already has great reviews, which is great! I know this book will be well received as more people discover it. It was just not necessarily the book for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
While the beginning of the book was a bit slow, the plot twists after plot twists in the ending made it a lot of fun.
I'm usually not too big on unlikeable characters, but this was a great way to do it. I loved seeing how unhinged Leah got the longer the book went on.
As some of the other reviews say: I could have done with Jules being a bit less horny, though the ending works better this way.
Overall not a perfect book, but a good, readable thriller, perfect for the summer.
What the heck did I just read!?!? 🤯🤯 Mother and daughter duo, Jules and Leah are both super messed up women, but is it all their fault? This book was a real shock to me. I wanted to stop reading multiple times because of how twisted this book was, but I had to push through to know what happened. I didn’t like any of the characters, except for Leah’s brother, but I think that was the point. The main characters weren’t written to be likable. I don’t want to say too much because it’ll give the story away, but if you’re looking for a mind bender, this is it.
I enjoyed the narration of this book. The way they voiced Jules and Leah portrayed them well. There were many times I got chills listening to them.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ALC of this book.
One word for this audio: addictive
Two words: dark and wild
Three words: Are you serious?!
Four words: Did that just happen?!
The story kicks off with a bang, as the two narrators beautifully showcase their different energies and emotions, highlighting the loneliness of both mother, Jules, and daughter, Leah. The narrators bring the story to life, drawing us deeper into Jules and Leah’s tales and the intricate, twisted intersections of their lives. We are taken on a wild, trainwreck of a ride, screaming at both Leah and Jules for their choices and actions. The audio is positively addictive, thanks to author Natali Simmonds and narrators Izzy Meikle and Claire Storey.
Triggers: severe loneliness, lying, betrayal, mind games, and revenge
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my advance e-audio copy.

This book was so good!
This was so well written, it was immersive and captivating and I was totally invested to know how all the plot lines came together in the end.
I will admit it took a different turn than what I was expecting in the beginning but I was pleasantly surprised by the way that the author told this story. I also loved the last chapter of the book, one last twist to really turn the story. This book literally plays out like a tv show in your head,
I think Izzy Meikle-Small and Claire Storey did an amazing job at narrating the audiobook. It really helped envelope me into the plot and create such a realistic atmosphere.

The story is told from the point of view of 48-year-old mother Jules and 16-year-old daughter Leah. Both of them are facing challenging situations and trying to deal with them in the best possible way.
Jules and Leah are desperate for attention and go the extra mile to get it. Unfortunitelly for both of them this results in an unexpected mess that they must deal with secretly.
Meanwhile, Jules deals with her rusty marriage and fears that her husband has an affair but Leah with her lies is tangled in a situation no one wants to find themself in.
While trying to pretend everything is normal they deal with all the madness that is going on and there is just a point when too much is too much... We don't want to cross this line but it's too late...
It took me a bit to get used to the narrators, the voices didn't fit into the picture straight away but once I was sucked into the story everything felt normal and natural.
This author is new to me but I am keen to explore more!
