With thanks to the authors, publishers Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC sampler of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This review is based on a sampler I received containing the first 14 pages of the book. Unfortunately the first 8 of those were taken up with the cover, ads, publication details, and a table of contents, which didn't leave an awful lot of content to base the review on.
That being said, the content I did see was within a section called Amazing Animals, and contained some weird and wacky information about dogs who sing and a pig who paints to name a few. I got a "Ripley's Believe It or Not" kind of vibe from what I saw, with lots of short and snappy pieces that you could easily dip in and out of, making for a fun reading experience. The table of contents would suggest a wide range of topics are covered too (environment, people, science, literature, art, food etc), so the book would seem to have something for everyone.
The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge contains fun facts and stories about a variety of subjects from animals to literature to space. I thought the format of this book was great as the pictures and small paragraphs of text on each page made this really engaging to read. The couple of pages of content which are included in this sampler were interesting and I looking through the contents page there are some other sections which really catch my eye namely the 'Brilliant Books' section.
I do wish in this sampler that we were provided with a few more pages of the actual content rather than covers, contents etc. as out of the 14 pages of this document, 8 of them were taken up by contents pages etc.
Overall this sampler was a good way of seeing the format of this book as well as the categories covered and this book definitely reminds of Ripley's Believe It or Not.
