This is a great series with echoes of Jo Bartlett's Cornish Midwife series and a crossover of characters. You can read these as standalone stories but they are better read in order so that you understand the characters' histories. We return to Dannie and Charlie's story in this novel. They are anticipating the birth of their son and looking forward to their future as a family. Dannie has huge anxiety which she tries to deal with. Mindful of her relationship with her Mother, she is afraid that she may be like her Mother and struggle to maintain a strong maternal bond. However, as the story develops, you can see the differences in Dannie and her Mother. Dannie is a warm, empathic person as opposed to her cold, detached parent.

Life at the Hospital is varied and bust but the strong team in A and E support each other and keep their eye on Dannie who is working so hard. Gwen adds lots of humour, as ever, and it is noticeable that Dannie might be lacking her own family closeness, but has a found family in her many friends. Parallel to Dannie's story, you see Chloe's. She too lacks family support but finds it in a surprising place. There are some upsetting aspects ro Chloe's story which many may find too much. However, life goes on for all the characters and you wonder what will happen next.

In short: Family closeness and friendship conquers all.

This book covers a lot of hard hitting, and emotional topics. It is less a romance, than a look at what good and kind people do when things get tough. The life of this book is based around the hospital and especially the maternity. There are several pregnancies and the worries as well as Jos that they bring are looked at. Broken wedding vows, divorce and finding new love is central and the author looks in depth at the jealousy and emotions that this all brings. Some great, and kind, characters as well as some on the mean side.
This is a standalone book however there are so man characters and each has a back story that it was hard to follow at first.

Lessons in Love at the Cornish Country Hospital by Jo Bartlett is an utterly wonderful book that captures the charm and warmth of the beloved Cornish Country Hospital series. Bartlett's storytelling is uplifting and heartfelt, filled with engaging characters and a beautifully woven plot. The book draws you into the scenic Cornish countryside and the emotional journeys of those who work at the hospital. I am always super excited to visit the Cornish Country Hospital to catch up with long lost friends. This is how these books make you feel. Great storylines that capture my interest from page one to the very end.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure.

I loved this book. I have read all of the Cornish Midwives books and all of the Cornish Country Hospital books, I feel like I know all of the characters personally.
I don’t think I could have been as compassionate as Wendy was with Chloe.
I couldn’t put this book down and read it while on holiday. It was another of Jo’s books that had me laughing one minute and crying the next!!

I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series and to read what Jo does next.

This is the 4th instalment of this fabulous series
And I couldn’t wait to revisit the Cornish country hospital to see how the story continued to unfold.

We got to catch up with the characters and how their lives were progressing and also to meet some new additions with a particular focus on us finding our more about Wendy’s story. . This was a rollercoaster of a read with lots of emotions and the author as always also brings some sensitive issues to the core and brings them out onto the open.

I am looking forward to the next instalment .

A gentle story peopled with lovely caring human beings and peppered with many reminders of what really matters in life and how many forms love can take. This book tackles infidelity, second marriages and complex relationships. Also, love the canine characters. Despite the sometimes dad themes, ,love triumphs and you will be left with a warm glow and a determination to forgive more and love more.

Love, there are many kinds of love: romantic, friendships, mother and child, self, for someone you should probably hate. And this book features them all. But what resonated most with me was Wendy finding love for herself and the confidence she gains.

There were so many amazing characters, too:
I need a Gwen to teach me her ways she's so charismatic and vibrant and her energy levels? Off the charts, I love her!

Danni and her mom, the indifference her mom showed to Danni and her brother, is so heartbreaking and her fears about motherhood and whether she'll make the same mistakes. I love that Danni felt so real, her fears and insecurities.

I saw myself in so many of the characters in this one, and every storyline moved me.

I absolutely adore this series.

This is my first Jo Bartlett book and it didn’t matter a bit that I hadn’t read the others in the series. I loved it. I shed tears of joy and happiness and once I started I couldn’t put it down. Brilliant book!

TRIGGER WARNING - BABY LOSS AND EATING DISORDERS
The first thing I want to get out the way is that this book has a stillbirth and the subsequent breakdown of the mother (understandably I may add). There was no trigger warning regarding it, and I found it incredibly difficult and triggering to read; I have lost two children myself, a miscarriage and a stillbirth and it was kind of thrown upon me. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars is for that reason.
There is also talk of eating disorders within the book which is mentioned in the acknowledgment at the back with some support groups, but NOTHING for the baby loss which I found really very disappointing.
It was a good book otherwise, well written as always and great to go back to Cornwall to all the familiar faces and as always I enjoy Jo’s style of writing and the descriptions of places and people make it feel real.

The fourth in the series and it didn’t disappoint. Wendy works in housekeeping and Gary is a nurse in A&E takes the focus in this book although we have other characters from previous books. It’s best to read them in order so you can understand sweat and how some of the characters are where they are. A great book with great characters who by now you feel you know so well. Thanks to Jo and her publisher and I do hope that there is more to come. Thanks also to NetGalley

Back in St Pirans again I’m loving this series of books by Jo Bartlett.
When Wendy starts to feel Jealous of her daughters relationship with her ex husbands new partner Chloe she never expects it to change her life.
Wendy shows how a blended family can become become your biggest supporters.
Danni and Charlie are eagerly waiting for the arrival of their baby and Ester and Joe are about to tie the know.
This book brings us back with a lot of regulars at St Pirans and as always it’s an emotional read. Every book in this series gets better and better.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for n ARC of another great read.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an advance copy of the book in exchange for a review.

Lovely to be back at St Pirans with all our old friends. This is another in the series (4th) but could be read as a standalone. Nice easy read, recommended.

This was a beautifully written story full of love, understanding and forgiveness in what was a very difficult situation that anyone who found themselves would have found difficult if not impossible to come to terms with. I was encapsulated by the story of Wendy and young Chloe and the love and understanding that ensued. This was a very poignant and touching read which made for a real page turner.

The gang at St Pirans hospital are back.
Danni is pregnant with her first child. Wendy is still reeling from the fact her wayward ex husband is going to be a father and to top things off his girlfriend is muscling in on her daughters .
She’s feeling jealous and she didn’t like Chloe the new girlfriend u til she meets her at the hospital in a vulnerable state and when Chloe opens up to Wendy she sees a very fragile young woman with no family support and when a tragedy occurs and the chips are down she can’t abandon Chloe in her hour of need.
Very emotional book and extremely sympathetically written.
Loving this series and looking forward to the next visit.

Good story!

We're back to check in for another installment at the Cornish Country Hospital! We're happy to be greeted by nurses and doctors who we've met on prior visits, and hear about what's going on in their lives. Aidan is getting ready to become a father, Danni and Charlie are expecting a little boy any day now, and we've got an invite to Esther and Joe's wedding! It's nice to find out that Wendy and Gary are doing well, and that Mike is in a relationship with Chloe, who seems to adore Wendy's girls, which is always a bonus.

So, now that you're up to date, I can tell you that each of the items of note above will lead to much deeper storylines. Some are joyful, some are sad and others scary. But as always, the staff and friends at the hospital band together to support each other. I hope there will be another book in this series!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
