I’m not sure this writing style is for me. Book was okay but didn’t pull me in due to the style of writing. Perhaps I’ll give it another chance but right now it’s just meh.

I read this book in one cozy start of autumn evening and it gave me all the cozy vibes. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it will not be my last, so talented with story weaving. Thanks to the author, NetGalley and publishers for the arc.

Marcella Keyes is struggling. Her debt from the loan she took out in college for her dad’s hospital treatment is only building up. She doesn’t even have a bed. On her birthday, she has had half a bottle of wine when she stumbles across an ad to marry a billionaire by Christmas. So, why not fill out the 200-question-form right?

Finn Marsh is trying to find companionship. That’s all he really requires. His mom isn’t expected to make it through December and once she’s gone, he’ll be completely alone. What he didn’t expect, was to fall head-over-heels for his assistant who claims that she didn’t mean to fill out his marriage questionnaire.

The first in a multi-author series (Cinnamon Rolls & Pumpkin Spice)!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️5/5

He's the roll, she's the spice...

Marci wants to quit being an assistant to her boss, Finn, because, get this, he's too nice. She's the grumpy spice. Finn really is a cinnamon roll, sunshine guy. He bends over backwards and isn't above using blackmail (or in this case, paying off a portion of her massive debt).
I really liked Finn.
No spicy times.

Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO by Camilla Evergreen was a fun workplace enemies to lovers story.
It was the perfect start to the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series.
This was absolutely delightful. The plot was well-paced and captivating from start to finish. The characters were charming and witty. I highly recommend this fun and quick read.
A fun romcom. And I enjoyed every second of it! A wonderful book to start my fall reads with!

Such a good autumn read. Workplace enemies to lovers, really liked the characters and the writing.
I received a copy from NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions in this review are my own. I also want to thank the Author.
Is it rational to hate my billionaire boss because he’s too nice?

Maybe not.

However, it’s definitely rational to apply to become a billionaire stranger’s housewife so I can quit being a personal assistant.

When—in a shocking turn of events—I encounter billionaire scarcity and learn I’ve signed up to become my boss’s wife before Christmas, I backpedal so hard I’m liable to pull something.

Shame indeed my too nice boss picks this moment to blackmail me.

The agreement is simple: I date him; he pays off my crippling debt; I have until the end of November to decide whether or not I’m saying “I do.”

It’s one measly autumn, and then I’m free.

There’s no way I'll fall in love before this contract’s up…

Even if Finnegan Marsh proves to be so much more than nice

ARC Book Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Marcella (Marci) spent her latest birthday drunkenly filling out a questionnaire to become a mystery billionaire’s wife. While she never imagined her application would go anywhere, she was surprised to learn the author of said questionnaire is none other than Finnegan (Finn) Marsh, her boss. Intrigued by her answers, Finn sees a future where the two could be happy. He feels so strongly about their compatibility that he offers to pay half of Marci’s outstanding debt if she agrees to give his offer a fair shot. Will Marci be able to survive one Autumn with a man she claims she can’t stand, or will she back out of the agreement and her job?

This is my first book by Camilla Evergreen and it won’t be my last! I loved her writing style. It was easily consumable with her witty voice that made for perfect banter. In addition, the plot was thoroughly entertaining. I flew through this book thanks to the fast pacing. While it is a book of average length, I felt like I blinked and it was over.

In addition, I greatly appreciated Evergreen’s character choices for her MMC and FMC. She goes against the typical stereotype of the grumpy/ sunshine trope by making Marci the grump. Her pessimistic attitude leaves little room in her life for Finn, the epitome of a cinnamon roll. His sunny disposition contrasts against Marci’s doom and gloom attitude made for hilarious scenes.

Needless to say I enjoyed my time reading Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO by Camilla Evergreen. It was the perfect book to start the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series. If the remaining books in this series are half as good as the first, I will be one happy reader.

Special thanks to Netgalley, Victoria Editing, and Camilla Evergreen for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 Stars!

This was a cute, fun read for the start of autumn! I love reverse grumpy x sunshine and a golden retriever MMC and that's exactly what I got! It was a very quick read (I knocked it out in an afternoon!) and a nice little palette cleanser between some of the longer novels I've been reading.

I think where things fell a bit flat for me was Marcella sometimes seemed just plain mean; I get the whole black cat attitude (because honestly, that's me) but some thoughts/actions just seemed unprompted towards the beginning of the story and that was a little off-putting!
Additionally, I don't really vibe with the insta-love trope and (even though we know Marcella drunk-filled out his questionnaire and that was the catalyst for things) that's how the first hundred pages felt—very abrupt!

However, Marcella grew on me as the story progressed and I definitely got a better grasp of her character through every chapter! I love how accepting Finn was and how much he adored Marcella without wanting to change her; he truly was (as the title stated) a straight-up cinnamon roll of a man. This is also a little shout-out to Georgia! I love seeing my home state as a contemporary book setting.
I also loved the side characters and everything just felt so cohesive!

Overall, if you're looking for something sweet, cozy, and autumnal, I recommend giving this a chance! It's closed-door, very mild-mannered (aka very cutesy and demure), but please make sure to check the trigger warnings provided by the author at the beginning of the novel! I always appreciate when authors give a warning about the content so readers can keep themselves safe.
All of this to say, I look forward to the next book in the series! Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and Camilla Evergreen for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Okay, can I say…Finnegan and Marcella are hilarious. Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO by Camilla Evergreenis such a fun, zany, golden retriever-black cat fall festive love story filled with all the beautiful, witty banter and fantastic pet names you could wish for.

Finnegan is a brilliant billionaire, and he is a complete marshmallow. But while his life might seem perfect from the outside, he is also incredibly lonely. His father passed away, and now he faces losing his mother to dementia. He has devised a brilliant plan to ease his loneliness- post an ad with an application for the position of his wife! He just leaves off his name. Why include that detail?

Marcella has such a tender heart and keeps all her feelings tight under a protective, thick layer of armor. On her birthday, she makes an impulsive, slightly tipsy decision and applies to become a billionaire’s wife. Her only comment on her ideal man? Anyone other than her boss, Finnegan.

The fun times start when Finnegan tells her he wants her as his wife. She is not amused. Through playing video games, wandering through corn mazes, making apple pie, and Finnegan rescuing Marcella from her police light ambiance apartment, the two form a close bond and work together to find their happily ever after.

This is such a fun read, and I am so glad you can snag a copy today. Be advised that there ARE some more serious elements, but the fun banter levels it out.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hating the Cinnamon Roll CEO. is the apart of the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series. It was such a cute workplace enemies to lover book. Cute quick read, hard to put down, and a nice palette cleanser. She’s a got the black cat personality driven to fill out an application to marry a billionaire so she can afford her bills, and he’s her golden retriever billionaire boss that’s tired of dating fake people and looking to get married. They’re personalities should clash, but the more of the real “her” she lets thru the more he falls for her.

The only thing I didn’t like is in a few spots it was a little confusing who was talkin, but other than that I loved it.

This was a pumpkin spice latte condensed in a book.
It's so much more than I expected. Whole book flew by like a fall afternoon behind my window.
Main characters were lovable and not annoying. Finn is an ultimate book boyfriend that every girl deserves. It's so sad (for the otherss) his heart only belongs to Marcella. It's also super cute. I loved that he was so patient, so kind.
As I was reading, I actually smelled cinnamon in the air.
This is cute, easy to read, fall rom com, this is pumpkin spice, this is a warm hug, everything condensed in a single book. This is my favourite trope, no spice, yet full of spice and great writing. This is a book every romance lover should read. Now excuse me, I am going to bake a pie, or buy an apple cider.

Thank you so much to Net Gallery shelf for eARC of this lovely book.

I got 22% into this and couldn’t continue. I wasn’t vibing with the writing style, and didn’t love the FMC. This one just wasn’t for me unfortunately.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!

What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. This is a first by this author but will not be my last! I read this in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.

First I want to thank NetGalley for a free arc in exchange for an honest review. So I found the beginning of the book a little weird and wasn't sure if I would be able to even read it, but by the end of the first chapter I was hooked! Marcella is a grumpy, moody and introverted administrative assistant to CEO Finnegan, who is her boss. Finnegan is actually the sweetest, funny and patient boss. On her birthday, Marcella gets drunk and fills out a dating questionnaire unaware that her boss, Finn, was the one who made it. It gets funnier from that point on. It is a great story that will have you loving it until the end! I enjoyed seeing as Marcella lets herself open up for love!
